this will be episode #1 of the 400 Gallon reseal. This video was shot about 2 months ago so its not exactly up to date but ill have new content as this operation progresses. i hope you enjoy!
If you display this type of "roll with the punches" attitude in other areas of your life, you may just become my new hero. Yes, I'm serious. If ever a massive tank like that began to fail on me after 7 months, I'd take a sledgehammer to it, immediately! Kudos to your soldier like response; I've learned A LOT from this upload!
wyzemann thanks man I really appreciate that! If it did leak again I was considering the hammer method haha. But much to my surprise it holds water now so that’s good I guess. Thanks for watching man and have a good one, I hope I don’t disappoint lol
Hey Brother your video when you set up say 400-gallon tank I saw that video is was amazing you do at the time and right now is amazing too perfect video but it's pretty huge and beautiful thing I love it even the fish amazing
Oh no! I know how you feel. I had a 90 gallon and two 125 gallon tanks leak in the last 6 months. I replaced one of the 125s with a 220 gallon and I'm resealing the other 125 now. I can't imagine a 400 gallon leaking! Good luck.
Fishy Wishes that’s crazy bad luck, 3 tanks in 6 months?! Bummer. I’m glad you got them fixed or replaced. How are you liking the 220? Also thanks for watching and commenting!
All About DIY I love it! It's home to my Frontosa colony. The fish look small in it! Lol. I used the canister filter I had and added a fluval fx6. I have some videos of it on my channel if you would like to check it out sometime.
Crap bro that friggin sucks! When you get the tank off check the stand, make sure the top of the stand is level and even across the whole top. I saw a couple of videos where tanks cracked or just started leaking because of stress from an uneven stand. Good luck man, the lighting diffuser on the bottom is genuis. Wish I would have done that.
JDO Fishtank thanks man and yeah, I didn’t want to chance it so I replaced the top board on the stand. It’s full of water as we speak so far so good. Thanks for watching broski!!!
Maybe superglue jell it? Use some dye to see where it leaks....then go over that part..and might as well do the rest. Maybe plain superglue would be better?..it can fill in tiniest leaks...harden forever.
Damn that is a bad day! This leak was fairly slow but started to speed up as I was draining it which was kind of scary. Especially when I started thinking about what if i wasn’t home haha. Thanks for watching this disaster
I hit the bell cause I know it helps! I really appreciate all the videos on this leak it really helped me out! I'm in south fla if you're ever in the area come by and check out my fish gallery!
Free Swimmer yeah it sucks but I have it resealed and full of water now so now I’m just waiting a few days to see if it leaks. Thanks for watching man! And yeah, if it happens again I’m going plywood for sure.
Aaron Steigmeyer on this big of a tank I just did a reseal since I have no way of hoisting the three sided front piece. It’s 10 mm thick glass and is simply to heavy for me to remove and place back onto the base of the tank.
john tran yeah I think cost is the reason most people have glass tanks these days. This tank is about 20 years old so it held up pretty well especially since it sat outside for a while. It’s kind of the risk of a glass tank lol. Thanks for watching!!
David McKay it was $900 about 5 years ago it’s just been set up like this for 7 months until it leaked. All good tho I have it resealed and it holds water.
crankyboiy yeah man it was a bummer but it’s all good. I got it resealed and I have it setup with some fish that I’m in to right now. Thanks for watching and check out the new setup if you get a chance. I’ll be uploading a 6 month update here shortly.
Syed Hasan I don’t think so because I had the bottom of the tank protected and not a single rock touched the glass during maintenance. I think I may have sliced the silicone with a razor blade or something like that. The silicone was about 10 or 15 years old at that time so it could have been age too. Thanks for watching!
Age of silicone is possible. My Mbuna 180h tank had 500Lbs of granite on bottom glass. It was fine.. Takes a major impact to crack glass and wow that's a huge leak. Are you confident there wasn't any twisting on stand ?
Free Swimmer Yes you are right but it also depends on how those rocks were placed. A crack sound means something is either broken or crushed. Let's see what comes out once the tank is fully evacuated...
Syed Hasan to answer your question/thoughts, there wasn’t a single crack in any of the pieces of glass. The old (15 year old) silicone failed and led to the leak. I have resealed the tank and it’s full of water as we speak. No leaks. I will be posting another video soon.

Free Swimmer yeah it sucks but I have it resealed and full of water now so now I’m just waiting a few days to see if it leaks. Thanks for watching man! And yeah, if it happens again I’m going plywood for sure.

D.P.K Fish Aquariums thanks man! I did save it actually. I have it full of water as we speak!
@@allaboutdiy1375 did you just do a reseal or did you have to take panels apart to make a new seam?
Aaron Steigmeyer on this big of a tank I just did a reseal since I have no way of hoisting the three sided front piece. It’s 10 mm thick glass and is simply to heavy for me to remove and place back onto the base of the tank.
Cons of a glass tank lol and i have one. We need acrylic tank to be a lot cheaper one day
john tran yeah I think cost is the reason most people have glass tanks these days. This tank is about 20 years old so it held up pretty well especially since it sat outside for a while. It’s kind of the risk of a glass tank lol. Thanks for watching!!
All About DIY man im worry about mines. Mine is at least 15-20 years original seal
Sucks bud mad skills catching those babies
Ry Mac cichlids thanks, more coming soon!
Perhaps this is why it was a bargain @ $900 7 months ago...
David McKay it was $900 about 5 years ago it’s just been set up like this for 7 months until it leaked. All good tho I have it resealed and it holds water.
Dayum that sucks man 😢😭😭😭😭😭
crankyboiy yeah man it was a bummer but it’s all good. I got it resealed and I have it setup with some fish that I’m in to right now. Thanks for watching and check out the new setup if you get a chance. I’ll be uploading a 6 month update here shortly.
Man that really does suck!!!!!
WesP’s World sure does, but as we speak it’s full of water so version 2.0 will be up and running soon. Thanks for watching
All About DIY that’s great.
Man all this talk about resealing. Im worry now. I havent reseal my 120g tall in over 20 years lol.
Don't buy a 2nd hand one. My 4rd tank in a row just started leaking. I will only buy a new one from now on
Look for the root cause...could be those rocks.
Syed Hasan I don’t think so because I had the bottom of the tank protected and not a single rock touched the glass during maintenance. I think I may have sliced the silicone with a razor blade or something like that. The silicone was about 10 or 15 years old at that time so it could have been age too. Thanks for watching!

correct rock placement can be key.. Also, If there is anything questionable with silicone, age can bring it out..

I’ll buy it from you
H-A-M no can do buddy, I have it all fixed and it holds water. How much you got tho? Haha
