Hiking Around the New Rockslide Near Copper Lake | Alpine Lakes Wilderness

Copper Lake is one of my favorite lakes on the west side of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. With recent rains, there was a huge rockslide that impacted Trout Lake and the outflow.
This may be the earliest in the season I've ever been to Copper Lake, and it was very pretty and quiet. I prefer it right now compared to later in the summer time with all the crowds!

It's a beautiful area! Wait a few weeks and Big Heart Lake will be easy to get to, but the crowds will get worse. Or go now and hopefully the crowds are minimal. It's a tough choice!
