Design in Dialogue

Design in Dialogue returns for a conversation with the Swedish designer-maker Mattias Sellden, featured in a new exhibition this month at Friedman Benda. Sellden creates sculptural furniture of remarkably animated character, sometimes seeming caught in mid-stride across the room. Each piece is unique, its form developed in response to lengths of timber, whose twisted topologies he uses as the basis for his compositions. Further enlivened with polychrome, the works are wonders of direct craftsmanship yet also engage with contemporary aesthetics. Sellden is interviewed by co-hosts Glenn Adamson and Stephen Burks.
