NOTE 1: In prewar Poland, there was a strong anti-Russian resentment. To tell the truth, Poles did not have much reason to love Russia after more than 100 years of slavery during the partitions, with deportations of hundreds of thousands to Siberia and executions of patriots after failed uprisings, with destruction of Polish national property and Russification of schools and offices. Also alive in the interwar period was the memory of the atrocities committed on Polish soil by the Red Army during the Polish-Bolshevik war of 1920. All this made anti-Russian satire flourish in Poland at that time and this song is one of such examples. It tells the story of the Bolsheviks' clumsy attempts to imitate Western fashions, when "in the salon, by the gramophone” Natasha and her friend Sasha are dancing fashionable dances: foxtrot and rumba. She wears an evening dress and boots with uppers, he is in a tuxedo and rubashka (a kind of peasant cloth shirt).
NOTE 2: This is my second uploading of this record. The previous version included a slideshow made of photographs of fat Russian proletaryan women dancing in evening dresses and boots with uppers. Unfortunately, this grotesque vision, which followed the satirical text of the song did not meet with kind reception of the ladies visiting my channel. One of them, probably a supporter of the ideology of political correctness a la Marx, called it a "sexist approach". Unfortunately, we live in the times when a "sexist approach" can even be kissing a woman's hand, and the only situation in which a "sexist approach" is not a threat is perhaps a demonstration of making chamomile tea. But here, too, it is not at all certain, because it depends who is holding the kettle.
I deleted my first video because such humorless creatures like those "sexist" ideologists are always eager to report material they don’t like as "violation of YT rules" , so I would have had a problem then, for one of my former videos with Michael Jary's dance orchestra had recently been banned by You Tube as "spreading hate" (I illustrated it with some archival photos of Berlin streets during the 1936 Olympics).
I lived through the communism in Poland with quite a heavy political censorship, but the censors there did not even dream of what we have here today. I hope, these new pictures presenting the street traffic in prewar Warsaw are not going to be either "sexist" or "hateful" in the YT cenzors’ eyes, but who knows. - Hudba

Thank you very much for this funny Russian-themed tune you recently posted in another version, I should check that one again. And I enjoyed this just like the other version, as well as the nostalgic prewar Warsaw views...
The earlier version was illustrated by my with the the old Russian posters presenting the humorous fat-women types and it was fiercely criticised by some of my channel's female viewers. I was accused for being a "male chauvinist" or so and it was a lesson for me, that the world is really changing and not for the better, around us. The younger generation seems to be loosing the sense of humor together with the wider cultural and historical perspective of the European legacy. So many of them choose to become the boring, narrow-minded ideologists.
@@240252 So sorry to hear so Grzegorz; of course all forms of discrimination, sexism etc. should be condemned; however I am afraid those viewers missed the point that everything should be considered in its historical framework. It is pointless to condemn historical works that cannot be looked at through the prism of present-day standards, since the latter did not exist back then. Besides, this song was about sarcastic humour and self-relativisation, an aspect that, apparently, was not understood either by those viewers. But we know this is characteristic for the moral atmosphere of nowadays, tending towards excessive political correctness and touchiness :-(
I believe this is a great tune and even if I understand nearly nothing it‘s very catchy!
