I am from Nicaragua and i just come to Hungary and here i see one verry nice they work well.
Hello again young man, a few tips for you.
1. When driving your tractor's, never ride the clutch! Always put your left foot on the tread plate otherwise you will cause premature wear to the clutch disc. What you are doing is pressurizing the clutch pressure plate which allows the clutch disc to momentarily slip. This takes the meat off the disc or it can put a glaze on it which makes it less effective.
2. Hay, the hay you cut in this video is very mature and as such dusty because the seeds have dried out and are ready to fall. The best practice for cutting hay in my opinion is laid out below.
A. Allow the seed head to form and then dry out but do not let the seed head get too dry and go brown otherwise the grass begins to die back. This results in over dry, dusty hay which is bad to mow, bale and handle.
B. Cut the hay after 11am in the morning and before 3pm in the afternoon. This allows the Sun to warm the grass up effectively by which time the sugar levels in the grass have risen so when you mow the grass the sugar is trapped in the stalks and it makes it more palatable for livestock to eat and convert into meat of milk. Cutting too soon or too late in the day yields low sugar content and as such poorer quality grass.
C. Your mowing technique. I always go into a hay field and mow it from the outside in. So, mow with the fence or wall to the left side of the tractor and go around the field three times. Then I take the middle of the field out and then do the final back swath (with the mower up to the fence but not touching it) last of all.
Yes indeed, riding the clutch isn't a good habit at all.
Damage risk in doing that.
Also thanks for explaining when it's the proper time to cut the grass.
grand father always let the heads of the grass bow over before mowing so the seed drops and refreshes the sward
I have one. These mowers came out in the 1970's and was the beginning of the end of the sickle bar mowers. They would cut anything standing or not. Never clog and maintenance free. You see how easy to change blades. They basically float on the ground but can cut a bit shorter than you like. No adjustments for cutting height. Quite heavy unit too. They did come with a full deflection apron. Is very risky to mow without one. Zwegger brand mowers.
Actually it's a German FAHR... KM22 not Dutch PZ
Foarte frumos a mers . Dau strainii astia niste indicatii de crapa pietrele😂
Mersi. Da ai dreptate. E problema ca soferul tine piciorul pe ambreiaj, nu e bine ca nu are aparatoare coasa, ca sar pietrele in sofer, etc. :))
I've never seen a mowing machine like that before
Keep working support yourself
leeboy244 well thanks.
Dam that's a big field
I rember the old school sickle mower's
Joseph Terry old school is always good.
Moc dla dorosłego a kosa dla niemowlaka.
Never seen anything like that looks like it would cut anything.
These mowers have been around for 40 years and they came out the same time as the PZ Zweegers HAYBOB which would shake the grass out for drying and then row it back up again before baling in Ireland it would take ar least 4 days of dry weather before u could bale Both are still for sale today and very popular
Very good job
Also lads sometimes the clutch pedal is heavy or hard to press therefor it's able to hold the weight of your foot with out it going down. Or engaging
First time you pay and put a clutch in you'll think other wise. Your clutch plate springs and throwout bearing takes the abuse before the clutch disk. Once the clutch disk takes on wear from this then the other two are already shot. Fields are not smooth so the bouncing up and down creates downwards pressure on the clutch from your foot. If you ever have to slip the clutch for any reason then your going way to fast and are actually doing less but it's costing you more. Use a lower gear and use the throttle in turns and such.
Nice Ford 4000, are going to bale the grass.
thanks
Nice ŽTR 165!! (Czech Reaper) :)
Never saw a mower like that in the states. We don't have to put license plates on farm tractors here. Looked like it was doing a good job mowing.
plenty of drum mowers in the US, just depends where..not really good in clay soils if land isn't perfectly flat and I don't think I ever saw drum mower over 7ft...though a longer swatch might exist..pros and cons
TVTruther .
DesertDigger1 We were using drum mowers here when The USA put the first man on the moon! Actually the disc mower has taken over from the drum mower these days .
I grew up in the commercial hay farming in northern california -- we used JD's w 7 ft sickelbar mowers before we switched to 14-16' hay swathers - raked it up w tandem 12' reel rakes -- first place I ever saw those drum mowers was when I lived in New Zealand --
drum mowers are the best but only on flat soil, if you find an anthill or mole heap makes the hey not good for animals.
I spent many hour cutting with that mower. When you put the mower into cutting position be out on the end you can't get crushed and have better mechanical advantage to control it. I see what you guys are saying about him riding the clutch, Don't . After your second time around/ cut do a reverse back cut then your grass dries better evenly . Your grass looks light so run it at 540 and just watch your wheel placement. Your only cutting 5 ft 4" if I remember? Our grass had too much clover in it to dry so the rotary was the only thing to cut it! The rotary mower conditioner was the best for cutting and drying the hay! You should be wearing hearing protection. It really looks like your center hitch is too short, the way you are cutting the soil at the 6:52.
Frumos clip!
Mulțumesc
good
Thanks all for your support. I'm glad to see people like you!
Beni Andrei Priza merge incontinuu.

No problem God bless you
Nice video ,but 2 concerns 1 no skirts on the mower i wouldnt want to be the guy filming from behind chance of stones 2 foot on the clutch all the time you will burn it out ,apart from that a great memory for me when i used to cut hay with a drum mower like that on a deutz 65 ,
Pete Owen yeah... you're right!... i have 2 skirts.. but i don't need them! Right here, no one have skirts on their mowers :)))....And yeah, i'll be careful with the clutch... Thanks for advice ! ;)
Nice job! What country are you from? Needless to say, the drum mower was invented by the Dutchman Piet Zweegers in Geldrop, and they still build the best drum mowers in the world there!!
I mow with a Ford 7610 myself and front + rear drum mowers, 5,5m together. Unstoppable combination :)
Oh and by the way, the people here are quite right about the covers! The drums spin so fast that if they hit a rock, it can hit you in the head killing you instantly!
+Michiel Kisteman that's nice.... :) I am from Romania.

Fahr KM 22? We had one of the first Fahr mowers imported into The UK, a KM4 which had 4 small drums instead of 2 big ones and I believe the cutting width was about 5 feet 6 inches. It did not have a skirt either but it had a guard running across the top. Even then my dad had a very lucky escape when the mower picked up a stone and smashed one of the tractor cab's side windows! Dad was unscathed but, as I said, he was lucky. As others have said, they are way too dangerous to use without some sort of stone guard. We used it for many years until it literally fell apart! It was MUCH better than a sickle/cutterbar mower ( It would cut through anything, long thick tangled crops which would leave a cutterbar helpless) but far inferior to the disc mower.which replaced it, Having said that, it was one of the first , there has been a lot of developments since then.e.g. the first round balers were no where near as good as they are now!
Mackeson3 Hi!... I have a Fahr KM 22 mower. But i know that it's risky to use that mower without skirts on it... it's dangerous! Risk of serious Injury... you said about you're dad, and right now, i can understand the risk of this thing!

I have one of those mowers grate things they go through anything but you should have the top panel and side skirts I know some one who still has a stone inj his right arm from using one with all the safty stuff on it
same here and there were a lot of strange sounds from that. personally i prefer a disc mower because they are a lot safer and leave a better finish. but i would use a drum mower to cut rushes and dock leafs

hum looks like it cuts an puts in wind rows at the same time ?
Have you ever tried to not cut so close to the ground? I think the grass recovers faster and 2nd and third cuts will be nice
Bikerchic No... Actually we are cutting everything like this. It doesn't really matter about the times when we will cut again. For us, it is important to maintain the field mostly cut, to cut a lot of grass once, so the result will occur in the number of balers.
@@Dave77 It's time to mow
Is that all you are going to cut ? You are a very relaxed operator no rush at all , couldnt afford to be like that here in Ireland where we only get two or three good days at a time
No, we cut more fields.
2 right as fast and clean as u can all the more drying time

Nice video, one thing I notice is you have the linkage set too low, you are putting pressure on the bearing of the first drum, the body of the mower should be slightly higher at the tractor end if you follow me.
I have 3 of these mowers They last for ever
im from the US and have one of these same style mowers but I can't buy the correct blades with that bend in the middle only straight blades and when I mow with it it leaves a strip of grass which it didn't do with the original blades and no one carries the right blade for it.

Salut! Ce dimensiune are cositoarea?
A Fahr km22 the original drum mower copied many times but never bettered Part of the zwiggers system used one for over 30 years
Those blades travel at 90 metres per second and to use either out the hood and curtains is madness flying stones and human eyes don’t go together
What kind of mower is that?
I would not be anywhere near that mower without a cover if it hits a stone your dead
Lñññ qué pasaría Oye autos y
yeah last year my 5ft vicon threw a rock the size of a softball and hit me in the back of the head and it had the cover on I wouldn't mow without it

It really appears that the drums are set too low. They aren't supposed to grind in or ride constantly on the ground. You can see this especially when cornering and the dirt is shooting out. 3:16 and 6:45 (just a couple of many through out the video). Gonna wear it out out. :-( If the ground was just really uneven in those spots and it bottomed out in a few spots, that's ok, but it really looks like the bottom of the drums were scraping along most of the time.
were are you from ?

What country is this video from..??
Romania - The country of all possibilities.
Don't drive it with the foot on the clutch you will burn it up. Other than that nice video
RGO Impact Thanks for advice man!
Dave 77 I'm kkk
Hope filming by a tripod and not a person :) or your field is free of stone and debris . Or they hv body armor on . Those small blades can definitely throw stuff.. it’s a great way to cut
Those blades break and splinter The safety frame and curtain r essential iv heard of a splinter going into the drivers back and lodged n his heart He survived tg
i have the same style drum mower, called Agro ztr 165 here in the US no one has the correct replacement blades for it here, the only ones around are straight with no bend so my mower leaves a strip as it mows it cuts a 5 ft wide swath.anyone know where i can get the right blades ?
i don't know... I just have 2 Fahr mowers, without skirts, or something like that, but..
it is good enough for me :)
These mowers are throwing every corner of the country here everyone has one.there a bit out of fashion here now it's all disc mowers.but some people still use them.pitty u can't get blades sheds full of them here.
Ferguson 20 diesel yeah.. Fahr KM 22.. best mower ! :))

What year is the Ford?
UncommonKIBBLES from what I can see of it in the video it looks like it was made between 1965 and March 1968.
madeljacky just 1973...take a look here vintagetractorengineer.com/2009/01/ford-2000-3000-4000-5000-serial-numbers/
Dave 77 without seeing the serial number on the bell housing and assuming that no one changed the bonnet this is a pre force ford 4000 that has the fins on the bonnet sides, that is what im guessing the age of it on.Check this out on the right hand side of the page below the picture of the tractor. www.tractorspares.ie/Ford-4000-and-5000-Tractors.htm
madeljacky So, I’ve made some more research on the matter only to find out that it was made in 1966. The code is 15K6, where 15 is the day of the month, “K” represents the month october, and “6” is the year of production, 1966. It cannot be newer since it has the old type of oil filter, the metal one.
Never seen a mower quite like this. And don't ride the clutch!

MfG, MS
Sorry, but I can't understand that...
+Dave 77 And, if you use a translator?
Why don't you do that..?
+Dave 77 Because my english is not so good. But the important message in my text is : belive in JESUS and do the right things. Make a Kibbutzim example. MfG, MS
