  • Hey ya'll! My Pawpaw and his dad (my great grandpa that died before I was born) had two identical John Deere model M tractors. They were used for years to farm on our small family farm! This tractor has been sitting for nearly 30 Years and I thought it would be cool to bring it back from the dead to bush hog our fields and food plots!
    Follow along to see this awesome piece of machinery come back to like and see a blast from the past doin work!!
    Ask any questions or "how to's" in comments, I've had to fix or go thru almost every part of the tractor so maybe I have an answer!

    Hey brother my MT wears her working clothes, but love red power. Like the channel and appreciate you giving glory to God and honoring your Mrs.

    I tried for a while to find an M to restore, however I wasn’t able to come up with one near me. Instead, I rebuilt an old 8n Ford. Gotta love the old iron!

      I’m very sentimental so I’d say it’d certainly be worth getting yours going again! I pray it’s not locked up for you as well!

    Great little tractors. Nice to have one with a battery and starter.
    Noticed the left rear tire on backwards, but expect you changed that the right way soon after.

      Yes for sure! We actually just used it backwards for the time being😂 it was all we had to get the project up and going lol but we will certainly fix it as the project continues!

    I'm inspired! I had to make a decision to drive 5 hours outside of the Ottawa Valley to pickup a John Deere M. I've decided to buy it after all. I will be looking forward to your updates as I begin my restoration project.

      That’s Awesome! They are surely cool tractors with lots of history! I Haven’t decided how in depth of a restoration I’m going to do from this point, but definitely more to come!

      @@amazingsaviorsoutdoors4202 I liked your video. The simple maintenance and the getting to know the tractor... quirks, abilties etc would be great to see. I wouldn't be going crazy with the restore either. My tractor would be put work consistently and be kept well oiled and running smooth. Who knows, maybe I'll document the experience aswell.

    My nephew recently became an owner of a 1962 John Deere 1010 RU, he has been wondering how to clean his fuel tank. The tractor was running before it was parked 15/20 years ago. Any ideas on how to clean the rust and stuff out of the fuel tank?

    • @amazingsaviorsoutdoors4202
      @amazingsaviorsoutdoors4202  Před 11 měsíci

      That’s awesome! And yeah I’m not 100% sure about his model but for mine it was just 4 little bolts and the fuel line I took all those off and took the tank to my dad’s house and pressure washed it out, then let it dry really good and put some fuel in there and shook it to coat the tank so it didn’t immediately rust. Then just put it back together with an in-line clear replaceable fuel filter so you can replace it and see if any loose rust is coming out and protect the carb.

    It is great to see these old tractors running! I have one, a 1952 that my Dad bought 2nd hand in the late 50's, don't run it often. It's about ready to be cleaned up and have some minor repairs for putting into next years Antique Tractor Pulls at a local fair. This year there were 3 JD-M tractors pulling and my grandson wants to pull ours so all goes well we will watch him. They have to be stock as manufactured which I think is great! So now what is the status of yours?

      That is awesome! Sounds like a great show keeping family history alive!
      Right now ours has become our designated brush hog around the farm! Just haven’t had the time to do a full tear down and restoration yet but hope to one day!

    I don't know if you have done this or not, or if you are aware but they make a slip clutch or over ride clutch to protect the pto drive / transmission from damage from the pto driven implements. If not aware please follow up on this so as not to destroy your transmission system.

    I have almost the exact tractor and it won't start what did you do with the spark o get it started, much appreciated, thanks

    • @amazingsaviorsoutdoors4202
      @amazingsaviorsoutdoors4202  Před 2 lety +3

      So I pulled the cap cleaned all the points and such and had to replace the ignition coil with one we had around the farm then I was getting good spark. A coil is cheap so you can try that and clean the points and pull a spark plug out, put the threads against the block but where you can see the spark and check it out. Also with positive ground and everything old on these tractors I would make sure all connections for positive ground are not corroded.

    What type of 3 point adapter did you have for your M? Is there a brand/manufacture for the 3 point adapter ?

      @amazingsaviorsoutdoors4202  Před rokem +1

      My Great Grandfather had welded one from scratch and it’s a little hard to get hooked up and very little clearance for shaft when you lift the attachment, not ideal but you can make it work if you put the time into making a custom mounting system, I will try to get a picture or video up of what we have when I get home tomorrow

      Lol it was just one we had laying around already mounted on a rim so we thru it on there just to see if it’d go before putting too much into it
