Absolutely loved watching and the whole time you were rendering that lard I was thinking wow how lucky!!! And then I thought that would make amazing fried chicken and biscuits!! 😂 You never disappoint! We got a brisket once that had sooo much fat on it I cut off all the incredible white fat and I rendered it down. I wasn’t sure what exactly I was doing but it turned into a beautiful white in the jars and I just stored in the fridge until I was ready to use it. My way of thinking is waste not want not. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦🍁

Hi Jessica, Aaron and sweet family! Such cute chicks.
Aaron, I hope your hand doesn’t cramp cutting all that up.
I remember we always had hog killing the day after Thanksgiving as long as it was cold enough to hang in the smokehouse. The next day was making homemade sausage and then the next day rendering lard.
I didn’t have a grinder and hand cut into little pieces to render.
When I was a kid my grandmother and mother had a huge cast iron pot that went on the fire to render the lard down. They stirred the lard with a long handled paddle that my great grandfather made years before that.
Crackling cornbread with a pot of pinto beans and fried potatoes, green vegetables on the side.
Fried chicken was always a Sunday meal with gravy and biscuits.
Good job Jessica and Aaron, I’m so happy for you.
    Have a blessed night everyone!

The regular lard looks like what we save from frying bacon 🥓 when I have the time I soak my chicken in buttermilk before I fry it , like my mama in Kentucky did . Milk gravy and biscuits the best !
