- This is an unboxing and review of the @turtlebeachpc Kone XP Air. This is a wireless version of the wired mouse I looked at before (see that video here • Roccat Kone XP is Rocc... ).
This is a fantastic gaming mouse with some awesome features:
Refined ergonomic KONE shape
Multi-button design and 4D wheel with 29 programmable inputs (15 buttons)
Gaming-grade 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth dual connectivity
Included RGB Rapid Charge Dock
Up to 100 hours of battery life
3D RGB AIMO lighting with 5 programable zones
ROCCAT® Owl-Eye 19K dpi optical sensor
Titan Switch Optical for a tactile feel with optical speed
Lightweight and flexible PhantomFlex™ USB-C charging cable
Heat-treated pure PTFE glides, pre-tuned for smooth movements
Highlights for me include superb comfort and an excellent ergonomic design. It has a large build and fits brilliantly in the hand. The optical switches ensure there'll be no issues with double clicking or debounce delay. But the best highlights are the fact it packs both 15 buttons and a secondary layer with Easy-Shift meaning you can program 29 actions. It has onboard profiles you can assign to games and much more.
Throw in a fast-charging dock and you've got a convenient mouse that's easy to use and basically never needs plugging in.

@absolutPorka We love the Prawn
Helloooooooooo
Just pre-ordered last night, willing to give it a try.
Excellent review format! You covered every aspect of the mouse, including the software features.
A million tubers don't cover the software, which is an essential mouse aspect. We have no way of testing/understanding the software for people who don't own the mouse. Thank you 😄
Glad it was helpful!
such awesome production values on your channel been subbed for a while great work m8 👍
Thanks Ryan. Glad you liked it. 👍
Seriously one of the best reviewers on CZcams keep it up brother and I have the kone aimo remastered I love it! I wanna get this one next
Thank you. Appreciate you.
@@TheProvokedPrawn thank you my friend I just made the purchase and will likely review it myself
I'm honestly blown away by the features. I always see their keyboard advertised on Facebook and for done reason disregard them as an option but wow.. I think I just found my next mouse. Might have to get the matching keyboard now too lol
Thanks for the informative review, your videos have been a go to when it comes to wanting honest feedback
Yeah, tbh the keyboards are hit and miss. Great looking but a bit noisey for my liking. Their recent mice have been fantastic though. Thanks for watching Josh :) And for the nice words.
Appreciate the word of warning regarding the keyboards. I had my eye on the tkl model as it seems to be the only tkl I can find with a volume knob (without spending big money on connecting like a gmmk pro)
I guess the volume knob doesn't matter anymore because I can program the volume with the mouse if I really wanted to aha
Don't get me wrong, I like them, just a little bit loud that's all.
Yes the Roccat Vulcan 122 AIMO keyboard is great, a bit noisy but it's great looking and works very well@@TheProvokedPrawn
Looking forward to seeing reviews of their new 65% keyboard.
Isn;t the easy shift work from keyboard as well ?
The idea is to use the keyboard when I want "different" mouse buttons and vise versa ( pushing it with the thumb on bthe mouse leaves my left hand to use all fingers and movement for diffrerent functions )
hi man i really like ur videos a lot of good details keep going . i just wanna ask u whats the best surround (7.1) headset for console the most important for me its the surrounded sound i don't care about mic ... thx Mate 🤍🤍
I actually mapped the thumb rest button to a macro as I use this mouse for work specifically I mapped it to Windows key shift and directional (left or right) to switch windows which works well for me the button actually works well for me despite my initial hesitation on it
Do you have a video explaining how to set this up from the start haha. I’m not tech savvy at all and these instructions aren’t the best. I’m here trying to set this up for my son.
Older video but torn between looking at this and the ROG Chakram X Origin, and I'm wondering if this can change one of the buttons to act like a "sniper" button to drop to a dpi level when pressed, I know the buttons are reprogramable but cant find any info on this.
really good looking
Yeah, it's fantastic.
Can you change the easy shift key to one of the top side keys?
have you heard of the roccat pure air? its an asia exclusive mouse that has seemed to go under the radar of just about every youtuber. Its basically a kone pro air but 19% smaller with newer specs. It came out around 3 months ago and i still havent seen a review on it from anyone
Good video. Just bought one (arrived this morning) and love it, only thing I don't like I can't get the lights on the mouse to permanently stay on? after 2 minutes the lights on the mouse turn off (energy saving is off) is that right or does anyone think I might have a faulty product, thanks in advance
I believe the lights dim when you put your hand on the mouse
so I bought mine just now in 2024 and the booklet told me to download Swarm 2 which has a completely different interface.. trying to find out if theres a way to Unbind the preset of keys without replacing them for something else. Just void. So that I only use the keybinds within the keybinds of my game...... idk if theres any way to do that.
@The Provoked Prawn, I know this is an older video, so you may not respond to this question. You are the only one I've seen that has reviewed both the Kone XP Air and the Asus ROG Spatha X. I'm just curious of which mouse has the easier buttons to find and able to differentiate between them. The Spatha X seems to have bigger side buttons, but the Kone XP seems to have a more distinguishable implementation of the 4 side buttons. The gap between the surface of the side buttons on the Kone XP possibly making it easier to find the individual side buttons, opposed to larger but a smoother transition between the buttons on the Spatha X. Hopefully this makes sense.
It does make sense and yes, they're easier to find on this. I also prefer this mouse too if that helps
Guess this is my backup for when my roccat NYTH goes.... I hope that day never comes
Thank you for the software explanation. But i'm wondering, i have thez Roccar Leadr and my button confiiguration is not saved inside the mouse like my other Roccat mouses. So when i take my mouse somewhere i need to install the software on said Swarn on that computer. Is this also the case with this one? Or is everything saved on the mouse? Thank you
Yup, saved on the mouse. You only need the SW to change settings and the mouse has slot for 5 different profiles.
@@CanIHasThisName Thanks a lot!
Can the EasyShift+ button (or any button) be programmed to a "fixed" DPI such as to use as a Sniper button? TIA!
I believe so.
i hope the scroll wheel works this time since the kone pro air almost everyone had issues with it.
afaik that was fixed later charges
I loved the feel of that scroll wheel but it was way too easy to press in.
Can you try some aftermarket skates and artisan mousepads
I do need to
What does Left and Right tilt on the wheel actually mean? Whats the use?
Scroll left and scroll right. The swarm software shows it as tilt left/telt right but works as you would expect it to on a pc where it'll scroll left/right on a website or Excel spreadsheet. You can program to something else, though.
Biggest question, where do I get that knife at 1:18?
Wish xD
Accordlying Tom's Hardware the scroll wheel is terrible loud and annoying. Is it true?
I don't think so. You can hear it at the end of the video, but it's certainly not loud.
isnt mouse too small?
Dont understand why i need pay for rgb (does not increase performance) and why i need pay for dock (materials, energy and money waste)???
What do you mean, rgb gives huge aim boost
I really want to give this mouse a go, but I can't justify that cost.
ITS SO WORTH IT!!! even if u go with the corded one
Wait till you see the basilisk v3 pro which costs 250 eur with a dock (and it's ~15g heavier too). 🙃
Also this mouse competes with razer or is it me?
Is roccat worth as brand?
Yeah, they're mice are great imo
one of the best! My previous one (Kone pure) last 6 years. Next one will be Kone Pure or Kone XP
I bought this mouse and after six months of quiet use, its wheel broke. Sadly.
Really easy to slip on there. That's what she said
lol
Plays better at 1.5x
🫠
Shame with this mouse, I was really looking forward to it. It came Saturday and i just couldn't take to it, realized when I picked up my Model D again, just felt so much better than this
Kone has always been on the larger side? Seems smaller than most mice to me.
Comparable to the likes of G602 or Rival 5. Definitely a large mouse.
@@CanIHasThisName and compared to G903? ^^ Using G900-903 for 8 years, but think to try something new
@@Therapyxx I have not even seen the G903 in person, so can't comment on how differently they feel in hand. But the dimensions are relatively similar. The G903 is (length x width x height) 130 x 67 x 40 mm and the Kone XP is 126 X 76 x 40 (keep in mind that the extra width of the Kone XP includes the thumb button).
