I can't thank this channel enough for showcasing Rauno..........because if they hadn't none of us would know what an absolute gem of a character he is. LITERALLY, never witnessed anything about his persona until this channel. The dude is a treasure.

The reason why Mitch was puzzled about Woolworths in Australia is because it was named after the Woolworth department store yet they were never affiliated.

Liz was showing her age recalling Woolworths. That was my favorite store as a kid.
I'm 20 and remember woolworths. Just checked and it didn't shut down until 2015
Woolworths was the original department store and absolutely huge back in the 50s and 60s. I was recently doing a job at someone's house and we had to drive by a house that looked like the Whitehouse where a lot of work was being done.
It was the Woolworth Manor, someone had just bought it for millions and millions of dollars. It belonged, originally, to the founder of the store back in the 1920s.
Edit: We no longer have Woolworths here in the US, I don't think they have been around since before I was born.

Thank You Liz for the video. I like seeing the prices of items in other countries. Those prices are comparable to a posh market in the US (after conversion).
Yeah, IGA is a independently run store, each store is owned by a different owner, but they buy produce as a co-op to get better prices, but they just can't compete with how cheap the big stores are, so they go for the more gourmet brands instead. The butchery is always good quality there.
@@narcissus79 Thank You. I did not know that was an IGA. There are IGA stores here in Michigan, USA with most located in small towns. Online says they are in 30 countries. The food prices have been going up for a year here in Michigan including at Walmart, Meijers and Krogers (the big stores). Grocery shopping is becoming quite expensive.

IGA have different levels aswell, food works, iga xpress, and the "good grocer" but its usually very local products esp the meat/veg etc

I will say as a Brit living in Aus at the moment, Australian supermarkets are just more expensive in general..although those prices were especially bad
Rauno talking about Estonia is too small for franchise , well i am icelandic and sure its 2.3 bigger in size then Estonia but Estonia has about one million more people haha and we still have lot of quick stuff franchise but sure its has same owners.

Castlemaine is also pretty expensive, it’s a bit of a “hippy” town, you’ll notice there’s no McDonalds etc- because the residents will try and block any application to build one

@@Therealma incomes are generally a bit higher in Australia than NZ. In NZ the average household income is about $110k NZD per year. Groceries are very expensive.
Inflation has really hit Australia hard over the last few years. Trips to the supermarket cost us way more than they should.
