    Fun fact the fiesta rally st uses the same chassis, and is among the cheapest 4wd 10th scale traxxas models. Not a bad place to start for those on a budget or intending to customize anyhow. Plus the rally body looks awesome :)

    Bought a slash ultimate over 10yrs ago it’s still going. I really like the new ones thinking about picking one up. Love the oversized threaded shocks and the chassis has always impressed. It’s the best Traxxas made imo. The only one I’ve owned that doesn’t track left to right the whole time. I hate constantly trying to 0 the steering on Traxxas models. Nice vid very informative I want one even more now✊

    I'd have to agree, the 4x4 slash has been a staple in the traxxas lineup. I know less in terms of track performance as I do durability, ease of finding upgrades, warranty stuff. The truck just lasts and lasts, and it cam do a few things well. They make good basher, they can be fast and it sounds like they can be set up for track successfully.

    I've had mine since the beginning of November 2021 It's AWESOME so many installed options, so much bang for the buck. THAT Being said, the tires are a trash street tire and poorly glued to the rims of such a fast R/C. It easily overheats on 3s Lipo on a short course AND the tires destroy the inner fenders because they rub. No matter what you do ya gotta get better springs because the belly scrapes on every landing.

    I am deciding whether to get the Slash ultimate or the VXL as I have a low cut grass track. There are attributes of the VXL that I like over the Ultimate. Like the exposed steering servo which makes it extremely easier to center the servo horn. I already have a Rustler VXL and a Hoss VXL that are both heavily modded. GTR shocks and VG Racing springs, Traxxas 2250 steering servo on the Rustler and 2255 on the Hoss, ST Racing Aluminum Bellcrank, Center Diff Kit on Rustler to replace the slipper clutch, fans on ESC and motor, steel axles, Pro-line aluminum hubs, Aluminum hexes, Aluminum motor mount, Pro-line Trencher LP on Rustler and standard size Trenchers on Hoss. Also swapped the Hoss body for a Rustler body to give a lower appearance and possibly a lower stance. Am considering upgrading the stock 3500 motor on the Slash to a 540XL. I like the torque and it still has balls to the wall speed for my grass short course. I would be applying all of these upgrades out of the box. So I’m leaning toward a Slash VXL rather than buying something that has some upgrades and the pan with the buried servo.

    Thing is that car the ultimate edition in oz 🐨.. is a thousand bucks.. the team associated is around three hundred less . Biggest difference between team associated and Traxxas is the racing heritage that is with team associated. Even though short course in 4wd has taken a huge backseat compared to 2wd....
    For just bashing Traxxas because of its parts availablity (when they aren't as stretched due to current supply being short for spare parts.. ordered things last april eventually gave up and bought from ebay instead of the hobby shop the order was placed with..) team associated depending on where in world , what shops are stocking the cars and parts vs the cars only (where practically everything part wise has to be ordered.. )..
    I have a team associated from 2014 (bought then but it was around for release wise about 2 or 3 years. ) I still have it. Its been 100% bulletproof.. not one broken part..
    Ive only about 6 months ago bought a used Traxxas slash 4x4 ultimate in roller form (i put a max 10 in it.. )
    Haven't pushed it as hard yet as i did the team associated so cant say its good as or not..
    Thing is if i bought another sct I'd be looking at the tekno sct410.3... as it is something you could regard as race spec. Vs the team associated pro4 or the slash.

Hopefully the heavy duty will fix my problems.

    • @JoeTheBlacksmith13
      @JoeTheBlacksmith13 Před 2 lety +4

      That’s how Traxxas makes their money. They’re money pits. After people realize how easy they are to break, they spend an extra $250-$350 or more to upgrade half the parts and they end up spending nearly as much as they would have if they bought a true racing high quality SCT like the Tekno SCT410.3. It kills me that these youtubers run a few battery packs through a vehicle and say they’re durable… especially when they’re just running on a flat oval. Try a few 3 day organized race weekends on a real off-road track with 25 foot jumps before saying if something is race worthy or durable…. Big difference.

    • @keenang474
      @keenang474 Před 2 lety +1

      @@JoeTheBlacksmith13 I agree. Thankfully I wasn’t going to use it as a race truck at the local track. I only got it because a group of us that wanted to have a “slash class” for us to beat around and our friends and family who aren’t into the hobby to use instead of our higher end SCTs in our backyard track. Figured I’d spring for the ultimate and spend the few extra dollars since it has the “upgrades” straight out of the box. Frustrating that a almost 600 rtr truck has only ran properly for about 10 mins since coming out of the box.

      What didn’t you like about it? This vehicle delivered all the speed and handling beyond our modded short course trucks

      @@RCReviewChannel I have had overheating issues with it from day 1 even threw another 70$ at it for fans and heat sink to no avail, next step is changing out the ESC and Motor, luckily I have a castle copperhead and a slate 3800 to try , so I won't be spending anymore money on it if that works, but I am through with Traxxas. Yeah its fast, but I haven't been able to even gat a full battery pack out of it without it shutting down. It has hardly any run time since I bought it almost 2 years ago, so I finally got tired of just looking at it and bought the fans, last time out it was 70 degrees out with a cool breeze and got 2 sessions out of a charge with a long cool down after overheating. I was going to try and dial in a smaller pinion but after several suggestions form Traxxas forum , i was told even on a 13T (17T stock) it will still overheat.

    Still just a traxxas though, you can only make a crappy chassis so good.

    Sorry but this is one of the most overpriced and underperforming rtr trucks you can buy. Spend $550 and it doesn’t come with fan on esc or metal gear servo.

      Per the features for the Slash Ultimate, it states that it comes with “High-speed metal gear servo (#2075R)”

    Please don't buy this over priced garbage! Buy the Aarma Mojave 4s. Why? Traxxas electronics are trash, you will get a few runs, then it runs out of puff. Mine ran for 5 minutes then over heated and stops. The servo is lack luster and also trash and will stop working. The shock them selves are great, the springs are way to soft, and the oil is way too thin. So you have to replace all the slashes electronics and transmitter, so expensive. The Mojave runs all day, replace nothing saving hundreds.

    I have ARRMA.. but I see the difference between the Traxxas... I think Traxxas is better than the arrma ... CZ they have their products for such a long time they don't change it they will upgrade it That's the best part so the parts everything is really built is good... I just want to go to a Traxxas...
