  • Back at it again with another microwave magnetron failure. This is the second time finding a microwave with an issue like this.

That magnetron is easily repairable. Since it is still heating it means the arcing has not burnt through and compromised the vacuum.
The part that is burnt is just the antenna cap and is easily replaceable. You just pull it off and push in a new one. Many different types are available from AliExpress. I recently bought an assorted pack of different ones and just used the one that matched best.
Mine had failed because I forgot to put the food inside it and walked away. The damage appeared almost exactly the same, except that in my case even the mica window in front of the waveguide had a one inch hole burnt through it. The failure has nothing to do with poor quality - it is just that if there is nothing in it the energy has nowhere to go and it just goes into heating the air to very high temperatures that melt or even vaporise the metal, and in my case the mica. Some ovens have a cutout that shuts off if that happens, though I'm not sure how it detects the condition.

I see a burnt metal. Mine also experience the same thing. If I change the magnetron, is there will be any issue with the burnt metal?

@@sharifabdulrahmansharifhas6607 If only the metal cap is burned then you only need to change that. If the magnetron is defective and you buy a new one it will have its own new metal cap and so you will not use the burnt one.

Deawoo made that entire microwave, some of the Sharp microwaves are not actually made by Sharp anymore. Deawoo is a Korean brand and they make a lot of the Magic Chef, Emerson, Frigidaire, GE, and other brand microwaves. I have seen a lot go for 20 years or more so I see them being pretty good for modern microwaves.

BERYLLIUM. If I see a physically compromised magnetron, I'm done.

And if that pink part of the antenna (which IS made out of beryllium) is smashed and you breath in the partials, CANCER will be knocking at your door (it's the bad kind of CANCER).

Boneyard machine! Please remember safety! Nitrile gloves if you can get them, and a respirator mask. You don't want to breathe any of that ceramic.

Evey transformer I've gotten out of a microwave has always been aluminum. I've never gotten a copper trans.
