      As far as I know - and granted it ain't much - but African wild animals are usually the most aggressive ones, when compared to similar species/subspecies from other continents. Take (for instance) elephants from India and Africa as a comparison. The Indian ones can be approached and - in general - they are quite shy and retire when they see a truck full of men. On some occasions you can even get "in contact" if you have a good guide, with experience and someone who can "read" the animal's behaviour. African ones do not give a damn! If you get too close they'll simply charge you (especially if they have a young one in the herd, they need to protect). They'll even chase after you, and (being also surprisingly fast) if you don't get the hell away quick enough they'll turn your vehicle (with you inside!) into it's most basic components. With "Nile crocs" (i.e: African crocodiles) it's the same thing. They are even more aggressive than Australian "salties" (or so i've read at least).

      I have come to the conclusion that this guy, Jeremy Wade, and the others who roam the earth hunting big fish, should take it easy, explore the area, have some fun, and not even drop a line in until the last day of the trip. It is the only time they catch one anyway. I'm sure they catch them the first hour sometimes, but it doesn't help the story much. I want to see what happens to him for not bringing that village chief the first fish he demanded. Messing with the voodoo can be more dangerous than the biggest Tiger fish.

    Amazing stuff just curious he’s the expert I am by no means anywhere near an expert on fishing nor have I ever been to Africa but when you have the fish on the line and you ruined it in as it gets closer to the boat why not just put a net underneath and scoop it up

    • @duanesamuelson2256
      @duanesamuelson2256 Před rokem +3

      Reeled not ruined...(damn autocorrect anyway lol).
      However for your question: netting the fish is possible but it depends on the size of the catch, what spines (and teeth) might become entangled in the net, and what terrain you are fishing from (boats can be terrain in this case).

    Thanks so very much for this vid, greatly appreciated.
    I've seen a few vids showing the catching of Tigerfish but this is one of the very few that actually tells me ABOUT this incredible fish!
    That is what I was missing. Though I've seen Wade's and others with their catch and honestly, Jeremy always does a great job explaining what he knows about the beasties he seeks but this vid went the extra mile. Highest props to the Diver-Photographer! Awesome job!!!
    I've had really good success fishing some pretty wild places (N America, S America, Europe, Middle East, Asia) but I always wanted to hit the African Congo for this incredible opponent.
    Regional politics has always put a damper on my plans.
    Perhaps with some well timed luck, my chance will soon come. 🥰
    p.s. I never fish anywhere without having a net available. Even if you can only get the head in, you still stand a better chance of winning the contest. :)

    They fight like crazy when hooked. You have to use a special thin steel line. You let out only 20 feet with a floating bobber on hooks and bait which floats the surface and then just troll and wait as they come up from the bottom to smash it. We had our best luck in only 10 feet of water on the Congo River.

      LMAO!! So True sir!! Im pretty convinced..that this guy never fished in his life !! He didnt do anything correctly! Iff??? Those fish? had an entire mouth made of aluminum!!? What would you do? I personally would use like a 5 inch shad and hook it with a single hook..like a weedless Bass rig.. and then after the fish hit it? wate about 5 to 10 seconds.before raring into it! In other words...Let him swallow the bait. The throats gonna be way softer......dont you agree?
