Main music is DK Dokuro - Passport.MID (Sega Genesis 90's remix)
Today, I will be going over Daft Punk, the French house electronic duo consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and their final studio album Random Access Memories. They created the album Homework, Discovery and Human and this was the last epic from them. We also discuss the TRON: Legacy soundtrack done by them as well. This has the songs Get Lucky and Lose Yourself To Dance, among others, with the latter having a music video. After a long silence, the robots have abruptly decided to finish the robot journey with their retirement in a video titled "Epilogue". Random Access Memories was a great album as well. Daft Punk really had an amazing run with full albums and weird music video. This was an interesting one as well as the finale to the Daft Punk series.
I do a lot of Daft Punk Instrumental AND hip hop Instrumentals, but this time I'm doing a music breakdown / discussion of sorts on Random Access Memories: Daft Punk's Final Studio Album.
If this video does well to me, I can continue this.
Not review, video essay, music video, playlist, or anything like that. An onlysmallbites original video. This is more of a vlog / talk video with nice drawings / art
#daftpunk #randomaccessmemories #epilogue - Hudba
i'm losing myself to dance, please help!
lol
Maybe if you Get Lucky you'll get out of it
I just can’t get a chance to take a break this often
There’s no going back.
Your doin it right !
Daft Punk deserve to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are eligible. . .
Agreed. RAM greatest album in the history of music
They made Robot Rock and Rock N' Roll, of course they're eligable.
@@willem6605 don't forget aerodynamic
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame have been inducting Hip Hop acts but in 2022 I think the name "Rock n Roll Hall of Fame" is outdated we can all just agree it's a place to enshrine the greatest acts of music in general. Would be absolutely shocking if Daft Punk isn't a first ballot inductee.
@@rayjenkins7211 if smooth by santana didn’t exist, aerodynamic would have the best Guitar solo in history
veridis quo is, for me, such an epic song. i cant get enough of it
Make Love for me is the huge cherry on the cake of their albums, it's just so gentle and sweet
Veridis is literally the best daft punk song to date in my humble opinion
Agreed.
When I was 15, I made my Nintendo Wii play this song when launching modded games, so every part of it is ingrained in my soul lol
Not a lot of people would agree with me because it doesn't stand out like other tracks, but my favourite of all them is Voyager. I think it perfectly encapsulates the sound of the Discovery album in that feeling of as if you're grooving through space. If I had to pick one from RAM in particular, it would be Touch. Like you said in the video, it's literally art.
Voyager feels like an underrated song to me. I'm not sure if it actually is, but i totally agree, feels like i'm going on a trip listening to that song.
Holy shit are you me? Voyager is my favorite song of all time.
YO THANK YOU VOYAGER SLAPS
DUDE that’s literally how I feel when listening to voyager
omg yes, this is in my top five for the album and in general
you should do either JUSTICE or Fatboy Slim next, both very interesting discogs
oh your doing justice, i still have hope for fatboy slim
97-98 daft punk fat boy slim crystal method and gta 1 was my life back then lol
@@sinceninetyeightysixgustof8122 that was THE SHIT back then
I think for alot of people including myself, RAM more specifically Get lucky was their introduction to these punks with a daft sound.
Nice intro, da funk was better.
@@ELFanatic mine was their kanye feature
Nah man i loved their songs as a kid, RAM is goated though
And the best thing about the RAM is that they didn't abbandon the house at all, instead of it they literally went back to the exact roots of not only house, but the today's dance music in general re-shaping and re-inventing it, literally bringing life back to (this type of) music.
And oh god... Giorgio by Moroder is the Masterpiece.
And Within, Touch, Contact and Instant Crush are just beautiful songs
And oh god, I need Justice's Cross Video.
Genesis has the best intro sequence in the whole electronic music
Giorgio by Moroder is my jam 🔥🔥
It's so good
Barely a mention in the video. It’s only the best dance tune ever made
Masterpiece.
"Sorry alive fans" that's okay, we just have superior taste
Digital love will forever be my fav daft punk song
Speaking of "listening to Way too much Instant Crush", there's someone that been watching the music video every single day since the breakup. And each day, he comments, "Day ___ of listening to Instant Crush until the reunion". It's crazy, and he's gained quite a following on the video.
BTW, my favorite is either Instant Crush or Harder Better Faster Stronger.
now that's dedication.
and nice picks, thumbs up from me.
"I can't imagine anybody listening to Recognizer on their way to school or something" Bro, that hurt me
Tron Legacy was actually my introduction to the robo bois. Didn't really think much of them being in the movie since I was 9 years old and they sort of just fit into the whole theme of the movie. Plus I was really going through a tron phase at the time especially with the amount of content Disney was squeezing from the name. As the for the soundtrack, I'm in the same boat with you there. I just don't really like listening to movie soundtracks if they were tailored for a specific movie, otherwise is spectacular and definitely added a tanker truck worth of fuel to my tron fire that burned brightly at the time. The reconfigured remixes I also didn't really enjoy except for 'Solar Sailor' which even surprised me as well to be honest.
Now as for Random Access Memories, that's the album that really cemented my loyalty to Daft Punk. I don't know why or how, but one day in 2017 I just randomly decided to seek them out and listen to them (it's probably just me though since I tend to sit on ideas for months or even years at a time). 'Get Lucky' and 'Lose Yourself to Dance' instantly hooked me to them and changed my perspective of them. Before then I used to think they only dropped the bass and only did wubs and dubs in the whole fashion of Skrillex and Deadmau5 (and others(?) idk i don't generally like most edm tbh and i'm only here for Daft Punk) since that was my outlook on edm as a genre at the time. Which they sort of did in Alive 1997 (which I actually enjoyed btw) but I'll give them a pass since it was their early years. Back to the topic, anyway 'Give Life Back to Music' is my jam since I, and this is my opinion by the way, believe music has become too stale and most artist just get complacent and rerelease the same beat year after year once they find a formula that works. Like the lyrics and the music videos especially have become the center piece of the music they release.
But yeah overall I really enjoyed the entire album, except maybe for 'Touch' until just recently (no explanation required). It just took too long to start up. 'Fragments of Time' is literally just me now, playing back these fragments of time everywhere I go. 'Beyond' really gives off love song vibes and 'Instant Crush' had me instantly hooked when I first listened to it with it's soft rock vibes (probably because prior to listening to Daft Punk I had Hall and Oates as my favorite duo lol).
Sorry for the essay but I just really like Daft Punk. Great video though, I've been subbed for a little while now and I can tell you put out good content. Keep it up and I hope to see the video on the Justice album that I still haven't been able to nail a name to. Is it Cross? Is it Genesis? Or is it just Justice? I'll never know and at this point I would like to leave it that way to be honest.
Daft Punk
1993-2021
I wish them a very happy and satisfying retirement...
edit: i only listened to 'Get Lucky' and 'Lose Yourself to Dance' first because they were the most listened to songs by them on spotify at the time and didn't really know where to start with them. if i had to choose between RAM and Discovery i would flip over the table and run out the room with both albums in my hands while you were confused by what is going on. Also they some how managed to get me to actually and try and practice music again with instruments, actual synthesizers and just trying out new forms (in my case) of being creative with them. Even as encouraging me to study and practice more unique styles such as Tom Morello's, Jimi Hendrix', and Chuck Berry's guitar styles. So calling them my favorites is bit an understatement I feel.
Only skimmed this, but this is incredible. Very much so agree with the 'running out of the room with both albums'.
This was an awesome series, dude. And I'm legit hyped about just the _potential_ for you to cover Cross; that's one of my all-time favourite albums.
Anyway, my favourite Daft Punk track... I'd have to hand it to Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger for being the first DP track I had ever listened to, when I was just 8 years old. But honourable mentions to Da Funk, One More Time, Veridis Quo, Human After All (the track), Giorgio by Moroder, Instant Crush, Touch, and Contact; literally all of those tracks are also in the running for my all-time favourite.
Contact in particular... The last song (at least outside of Japan) of the last album, featuring an audio recording from the last manned mission to the moon... I feel it's such a fitting way to end such a tremendous legacy. Touch may have played in the Epilogue, but Contact, at least to me, feels like the true finale.
Man, I remember when this came out and hardcore Daft Punk fans were hella divided lol. One side wanted them to stay electronic while the other enjoyed new DP music. I personally liked the album, but I wouldn't put it over Discovery or Homework. Honestly, their TRON album is really underrated
This album made summer 2020 one of the best summers of my life, i loved every second of it, i hold it so close to my heart, thank you Daft Punk
Loved this DP (Daft Punk not double penetration) series of videos, they were really interesting, perfect thing to do to say one final goodbye to them, keep up the good content! :)
thank you for clarifying that it is, in fact, not double penetration, very easily mistakable.
That's awesome to hear how they helped you have a sweet summer, very epic. And hey, thanks for enjoying it!
...and here I was, thinking "Phew, I finally moved on, I have stopped bursting into tears every time someone mentions DP or while listening to RAM." Until this video appeared and now I have to start grieving all over again. 😥😭😭😭😭
Same. I’ll be grieving for a while💔
The first time I listened to this album was on a plane ride home from my grandmother's funeral. When I first heard Touch it damn near broke me. It's become such an important song for me since then and I can't imagine my life if I hadn't heard it.
The greatest album of the decade
That's it
I would love to see videos from Justice, Porter Robinson and Madeon. Love your content bro 👊😎
ayy, thanks for enjoying. Madeon is an interesting one, but ill probably save talking about him for later when I have a bigger audience. I feel more peeps need to know about him, more than they do.
Good video. About the Romanthony thing, I remember reading somewhere on a thread or something that he was upset about royalties from his appearances on Discovery. Dunno how true this is but it's something that I remembered.
Damn that sucks. He was amazing.
Damn, if that's true, that bloody sucks. But royalties are important, and if the man wasn't getting paid fairly for the work, i'd probably do the same.
Digital Love is my absolute favorite Daft Punk song, it just slaps so hard and that GUITAR SOLO, JUST MAKES ME FEEEEEEL UGH
Daft punk, gorillaz and the hotline miami soundtrack are what made me obsessed with music. I’m going to pursue a career in electronical engineering so i can design synthesisers. Although i would probably cite Home as my biggest influence Daft punk kind of indirectly played a part in me choosing that career path.
Fragments of time is one of the most underrated songs ever made. Extremely simple, but still so beautiful.
Thomas ( one of the daft punk guys) used to take Todd Edwards trips across the Californian coastline, with no destination in particular. Todd liked it so much that he later decided to move to Cali permanently from his home in Jersey. The song encapsulates soothing passing experiences like these, which are only accessible to us later, like fragments of time in our mind, similar to how data is fetched from RAM by the CPU- the mind of the computer. ( I'm pretty sure this is not what Todd had in mind, but this still seems interesting to me as a CS student lol)
I don't play this song unless I listen to the entirety of RAM, it's not my favorite song ever (hell it's only my 3rd favourite song on RAM), It doesn't give me goosebumps when I listen to it or anything like that ,but it's simplicity makes it so good. It's a fragment of time for me as well now.
It's so simple and incredible. One of those songs on the album that you don't think about a lot. I discovered the song before listening to the full album and have it on a few playlists. Heck, I think I have every song on that album except Doin' It Right and Beyond on one playlist or another.
@@willem6605 doin it right gets boring quick. Still a decent song tho
RAM is my all time favorite album! It literally is the reason I became a fan of Daft Punk, after hearing their name pop up in Tron: Legacy. My favorite song from them is always Doin' It Right, it's a super catchy song and easy to listen to.
I personally love the Tron Remix album! I was bored at work one day painting so I put it on, woah I did not regret it!
Do a video about starboy, i feel it coming and overnight
Great vidéo ! Yeak make a vidéo about Justice, love your vidéos !
Sorry for my language : i'm french
Seriously dude, your videos are insane, never stop, because I'm never going to stop watching your videos
This video was perfect. This is my favorite DP Album. Followed CLOSELY by Discovery. I loved the TRON: Legacy soundtrack review too:)
Hey man I’ve found your channel with this Daft Punk series... and I gotta say your analysis is so in depth and I dig it. You’ve got a new subscriber sir.
another well done video with enough charm in the sketches alone and a few hot takes to keep comments fluid yet fair. i personally adore R.A.M and consider it a masterpiece as well as the TRON soundtrack, and its good to see a video talking about both releases and how the relate to one another. i also have an embarrasing story on how i spilled coffee on my R.A.M. and Cassius' 1999 vinyls while playing mariokart, so that stressful nostalgia also brings those albums closer to me.
I loved this series. Great job on it!
My favorite Daft Punk song is probably Digital Love. It makes me smile every time I hear it.
Doin it right is honestly one of my fav song, it’s also the first song I’ve ever heard by them... from Apple Keynote. The other ones of my favs are actually Give Life Back To Music, and The Game of Love, at least they are one of my most listened music. But I think the most sophisticated Daft Punk song is Touch, boy that track sounded like a lot of effort, and it was the song that ended the duo...
When then you mentioned the remix done by Pretty Lights, I just couldn’t agree more!!! It got me looking at the rest of Pretty Lights Discography as well. Love the original and remixed versions. 😁🎶🎶🎶
I don’t understand how you only have 5.8k you deserve way more this is quality
It's here. Thanks for the video dude!
You have a very friendly commentary voice its very welcoming and gentle and makes this video better
Ok after 5 daft punk videos I can't justify not subscribing to you. Keep up the good work
bro i love your videos and i love daft punk, more ppl need to see this !
Excellent video. Any talk about DP is great
This series on daft punk has been so good, looking forward to who you cover next - breakbot maybe?
Perfect video for a perfect conclusion of the saga, congrats!
“I can’t imagine listening to Recognizer on the way to school.”
Aight, call me out, then.
I love all the research and thought going into these videos. The fact that I don't think you're even monetized yet shows too that you really love making these videos and I really can't wait to see your channel blow up!
ayy, thanks guy! i am eligible for monetization, but i'm choosing to wait until i have a bigger audience to enable it. I wanna let new people actually see my content, before being blasted by ads, ya' know?
@@onlysmallbites ooh ok I thought that a channel also had to have 20k subs at least but nvm good ok you man. Clearly misinformed lol
@@austin7921 lol dw, it's all good.
Love your Daft Punk retrospectives. Thanks for making them. Informative, fun, and respectful. Man I'm going to miss those pioneering robots. Stardust, please come back. Favorite DP album & song: Discovery, Digital Love. Maybe you can go into their collaborators from 'Teachers' sometime? Yes, please cover Justice (at least they are still a band). I know Daft Punk likes Justice and remember seeing a clip of them at a Justice concert. Justice's most recent live event 'IRIS : A Space Opera' they really took queues from Alive 2007 on starting minimal, holding back, using lighting sparing but effectively and artfully.
Tron: Legacy is not just one of my favourite OSTs, it’s in my top 10 albums.
But then I adore the movie too.
Flynn Lives is outstanding. Whack on some decent headphones, and if you can, get the album in FLAC or lossless format, shut your eyes, and just have it wash over you.
Although my absolute fave DP song is Veridis Quo. Today anyway. Probably will change for tomorrow 😃
Amazing video thank you
Easily my favorite album. Great video
What a great video my man!
Teachers must be my fav i guess. To put in the shoutouts for all ur heros so perfectly, it is just a jam.
But I must agree with u my man - as an full LP, Discovery is my all time fav.
Very nice work, brings out the kid in me with all my obsessive fanhood : D
but Alive 07 for me was like - ok, these guys are 10 years ahead of everyone. For a full year it was a nonstop repeat mode for me
Dude i love you’re videos so much...
ayy, thanks for enjoyin' em!
Great video dude! Just relistened to the album again yesterday and it has some low lows but some incredible highs :') Not the worst place to end things for them I think
Maybe not my all time favourite but my right now favorite song by them is something about us: the way the beat cuts out in the second verse is so good
I got dumped by my middle school girlfriend when this album came out and I listened to Instant Crush on loop for like a week. Good times.
You deserve more subs, good content
Pumped for the Justice video!!!
My all-time favorite Daft Punk song has 2 b Instant Crush, which is then followed by everything on Homework. Daftendirekt got me feeling some kind of way as well
Brilliant series! :)
incredible video man ! I’d like to see you covering Disclosure since you showed us caracal in the animation haha !
I appreciate the research, the jokes, and the kingdom hearts background music. Also, favorite song per album right now, because can you really pick only one?and they occasionally change, would be: Da Funk, Face to Face, Technologic, Derezzed, Encom Part 2 Remixed by Com Truise, and Give Life Back to Music.
(4:27) call me a weirdo, but I love listening to “Recognizer” as well as the rest of the soundtrack when I’m driving around town or on longer drives.. I’ll also play Tron: Reconfigured as well.
the jet set radio music in the background is making me smile
I love their Tron soundtrack. I do listen to it a lot of I'm feeling some kinda way. I just like to get lost in the music.
Oh yeah, cross would be an insane album to cover in a video
It’s here!!

Thank you for making this!
It's really hard to pick a fav song, but my go to is Around the World
(Also of course Around the World/ Harder, better, faster, stronger from Alive 2007)
This album really *touched* me
Digital Love got me feeling some type a’ way. Especially since it’s between Stella and Shep in the movie.
ive never been this early holy shit, great vid dude
Why hasn't his series blew up its so good 😫
Thank you for this video.
For the justice video, please dig deeper as a lot of fans do accept that justice is daft punk, just a more energetic and hardcore project of theirs.
Their on-stage mixing style is very very similar, the way they both drop songs and introduce them with loops and raw glitch effects like beatmasher and crusher to the texture in the FM synths they both use in their music productions.
A true fan with a music background would definitely understand what I am pointing here.
yoooo i love this!! we have similar content. no idea why there so few vid essays on music on YT
My fav Daft Punk album is Alive 2007. The remix and mashup is godly
Nice, it is a monster of a remix album. have a fav mash up on it?

I'm excited so.. I give a like
greatest album of all time imo
my fav daft punk song is touch!
also my fav song period
discovery and ram 10/10s
man for almost a year I only listened to the tron legacy soundtrack.
Technically not their first film score, if you consider their independent work. Thomas also composed soundtracks for the movie Irréversible. But as Daft Punk this could be seen as their first.
Fun fact; The director of Irréversible, Gaspar Noé-who also directed the movie Enter the Void in 2009-wanted Thomas to compose the soundtrack for the movie. Although, Thomas was busy producing the Tron Legacy soundtrack with Guy and turned down the offer. Although he provided sound effects to the movie and was credited as sound effects director. If you haven't seen that movie, I highly recommend it.
Uh oh, you forgot to make their discography of every Daft Punk features.
I didn't know the tron soundtrack was released on my birthday.
I was 11 back then
Respect for the Jet Set Radio OST in the background.
Daft punk are legends of music they deserve in the rock n roll hall of fame 😊
I really liked contact from this album, one of my favourite dp songs

My favorite daft punk song is Aerodynamic, I love the guitar solo in it and the bassline
man when you started talking 'bout tron I forgot this video was about R.A.M
my favorite album!
My fav album of all time
YESSS GIVE ME SOME JUSTICE
Touch is so good
Doin it right has always been my favorite. Probably because the vocoded vocals remind me of classic daft punk.
Glad you referred to ‘Face to Face’ as a GOATed song as for me it’s their best ever
It's neat how the original Tron soundtrack and the one Daft Punk did with both creators go into their respective projects with the same kind of mentality of meshing the orchestrated pieces with their synth. Though I did like their Tron album, my only complaint about it was that it really just sounded more of their stuff rather then Tron, because Wendy's sound in that movie isn't something you can really track down with maybe the closest being Vangelis.
I do really want videos about Justice albums
I find it funny how end of line has become the most popular song in the tron album
