My God, it has been 10 years?!? I still remember like it was yesterday... album of the year was being given out. Alicia Keys finished up saying the nominees, including Taylor Swift's Red. A reaction camera was fixed on each of the artists nominated. As soon as Keys said "Rrrr" Swift's crew started to stand, then the three best words of the night came out of Alicia's mouth: "Rrrrandom Access Memories!" The look of disappointment on Swift's producers is something I will always remember and cherish. Those old f**ks' became so salty and seem to care about the winner of the Grammy. The only person who was applauding was Taylor. It was glorious.

I remember there being like a limited podcast series coming up to the release of RAM. There was one where Giorgio Moroder talked about walking into the studio to record his lines for the song, it was just him and the recording engineer and he saw three microphones. One was from the 70s one was from the 80s and one was a modern microphone. He asked why he was recording the different parts of the song into different microphones and the recording engineer said that that's what Daft Punk wanted. Giorgio asked if anyone would notice and the recording engineer said "the listener probably won't but they (Daft Punk) will." I might be misremembering this but it's something that's stuck with me about the album.

He gets pretty gate-keepy and serious about things, and that makes it hard to connect with him on a musical level sometimes. (I typically enjoy the stuff that he likes, but he hardly ever steps out of his comfort zone when it comes to music) Once, I was explaining to him the many reasons why Daft Punk is my favorite artist of all time. He had his speakers set up, and so I played Touch while we quietly listened together. He cried, and cried softly. It was one of the most beautiful and tender moments that I’ve ever experienced with my dad, and I’m so grateful for it. ```ifloveistheansweryou'rehome``` doesn't need any explanation
Also, Giorgio by Moroder is *incredible,* I adore the grand musical voyage it sucks you in and the way it's perfectly put together (also, the monologue is very beautifully inspiring)

RAM is my favorite album of the 2010s, and it means so much to someone whose dad grew up listening to disco, electro, soft rock, R&B, prog rock and other genres featured on it that Daft Punk helped revitalize and recontextualize after being rejected and/or forgotten in the public consciousness

This was the first album I had ever bought. I bought it digitally on Play music using my dad's credit card. The singles - Get Lucky, Lose Yourself.. and Instant Crush were enough to get me hooked. I cherished EVERY SINGLE track. I remember not being as enamoured with the ballads such as Within or Beyond but I soon grew to love them and their places on the album.
I think this album is crafted to perfection. Each production choice, from the way the acoustic drums are processed to the insane effects on the synthesisers, is immaculately executed to create a unique and holistic sound that never wears itself out throughout the album.
I also love the diversity of tracks and how Daft Punk manages to keep the same DNA within each one. Tracks as different as "Fragments of Time" and "Contact" both sound completely different in style and structure but manage to work harmoniously together on this record.
It's a love letter to the past, present and future of music while being distinctly Daft Punk. This is not only my favourite album, but in my opinion, the greatest album I have ever heard.

Human After All shines most during their Alive 2007 tour in which they use the HAA tracks as a backbone to the entire set list that also fuses together live remixes of classic tracks from their first two albums. Television Rules the Nation combined with Crescendolls is amazing and immediately had myself questioning my own negative opinion of HAA.

I'll never forget my first exposure to electronic music was staying up really late at night as a 12 year old and watching MTV's Amp, and being mesmerized by Daft Punk's Around The World. I was like, what is this alien music? It was hard for me to comprehend all this weird electronic stuff I was hearing for the first time. I've never been this huge Daft Punk fan but they'll always be an early memory and basically my introduction to electronic music, so they're special to me for that reason.

The overly sterile production quality rubbed me the wrong way when I first listened, especially when compared to the digital rawness of their earlier stuff. But going back to it over these past 10 years, that “over production” almost serves to preserve this album and gives it a timeless quality. Pair that feeling, with the fact that this ended up being their final album. RAM is this perfect capstone to their entire discography. It’s an important album and an all-time classic imo.

Man 10 years. My feelings on daft punk have changed so much over those 10 years. I used to be a very casual listener, really only liking instant crush and get lucky of this record. but as the years have gone by and I've matured more in my tastes, I find myself going back to this album more and more. Starting actually from a video where giorgio by moroder was put to a clip of the regular show, I had to find out what song that was, and that's what lead my on my musical journey to what I feel confident in saying is my favorite album, not just by daft punk, but really of all time.

I still have a (random access) memory of the week leading to this album releasing. It was also the last week of my sophomore year of high school, and I had made friends with a classmate over listening to music on breaks. I introduced him to daft punk the week before RAM with Discovery and HAA, before listening to RAM on day of release. We then went on summer break and didn't talk in-between that. But when I started my Junior year, I walked by him and all he said was "thank you for introducing me to Daft Punk!", and that was one of the last times we interacted.
    Hope he's doing well 🙏
