Henning: "I would have maybe six to ten amps maximum."
Rack behind Henning: 20+ amps.
plus more in storage and in the car.
I had the Headrush Pedalboard and really liked it. However, it was way to big, especially when I have a vocalist, guitar synth, and looper down there also. So I sold it and got the Pod Go. At first, it seemed way more complicated. But now I’ve had it for a few months, I really like it! I can set up 4 snapshots for each part of a song, and can easily get the tones I for the many styles of music I play! Well worth every penny! Running it through two frfr powered speakers, and not missing my amp whatsoever! Sounds great with electric, acoustic, and bass!
Awesome review Henning! I've been waiting for this video and you didn't disappoint. Thank you.
This series is brilliant thankyou ...totally definitive and chunked up brilliantly for access by typical guitarists thankyou Henning 👍
thumbs up for the video on the first full song. man, that's awesome!!! loved the voice as well =)
You know what, I really love Line 6 and I believe they've nailed this product and brought back it's POD reputation :)Though I still love the sound of the HD500 lol
I agree a "MyFavorites" tab/section would be great to customize it. We have this feature on our cameras (Sony/Canon, etc) so why not on our effects processor.!
Very entertaining! Seems a very honest review from a friendly and funny guy. Also like the cats!
Man, Harley Benton is killing it! If I hadn't seen the logo on it, I would've thought that was a much more expensive guitar. Can't wait to get my CST (which I bought thanks to your review, btw!)
tbh, the Amarok is waaaaay more expensive than any harley benton up to this point. still more than you get from any other brand at that pricepoint, but 600 bucks is not 200 bucks. its a different league.
Wait! Where was a Harley Benton in this vid? I must’ve missed it ?
+1 on the improvement of Line 6 presets. POD HD, Helix and (as expected) POD Go have so much more to offer than those presets show!
Thanks again for youre amazing videos - I bought the Pod Go today and I love it!
man i love your studio. Would love something like that for my programming / guitar jams.
I just got one lightly used. It had one user preset that the previous user honestly nailed. Just a very well dialed in amp, with the blocks set up for TS, delay, chorus, and plate reverb. I updated firmware and did the recommended factory reset. Man, do those factory presets sound crummy! Ready to put mystery user’s preset back from the backup until I get time to tweak a few of my own. 😂
Honestly, I see the amount of amps and effects in this as a boon to everyone too scared to get into the modeling world. It’s priced low enough to be babies first modeler, but it also has a shit ton of stuff in it so you won’t want to move onto something else so quickly. As far as scaling it down even further to where it’s the bare essentials, I’d expect Line 6 to make a POD Go mini any year now. If there’s one thing line 6 does right, it’s make their stuff available for every price point.
Priced low enough? For me, this unit would wipe out my entire savings hahahaha
Just got to know your channel, really love what you are doing!
Keep it up!
The lack of bluetooth is very sad for a unit out in 2020...
Still bought it and the sound is awesome compared to my previous multi effect (Zoom3G) even with the default patches
I think a billion options for amps is fine coz people have different preferences. If one of your favorite amps is not in the option, you'd be disappointed. People will again complain about it that they have less option. Great video.
You have one heck of music room setup there, wow! I'm only mildly jealous ;)
I was already impressed, but even more after seeing the end of the video, the part about the animal shelter support. Great!
Yeah, your conclusion is true. For me, I don't need tons of amps and cabs. I want just few that I can master in tweaking to get the tone I want. Than to a lot but sound sucks. I think they should focus on how to make their amps or any effects sounds more realistic. But yes I want to have it. I like it.
The editing here is excellent. This needs to be said. :)
Cool we´re finally getting real post NAMM reviews of this thing!
i think the idea with the choosing what you need for the list very good.
I love how you're going about this!
I like Stomp because you can run within your patches parallel with your pedals. That feature Pod Go dies not have. You can always add extra pedals!
Your suggestion sounds a lot like the Amplifire amp modeler. A limited number of them, but enough amps that sound great.
So your main problem with it is that it has too much? Not the worst issue to have, thank you for the in depth review, it really helped me a lot to decide to purchase the Pod Go
So far I really like this pedal. It sounds great through my bose l1 compact and my amp as well. Just a little heads up if anyone is thinking about getting one, chase freedom and freedom unlimited offer 200 dollars back when you spend 500. So I opened up a card, bought the pedal and got the 200 off. This pedal for 300 bucks was a steal👍
wow swet deal
The main thing with the GO is ease of use and sound quality, which you showed really well. I agree about the IRs being unnecessary and probably a bit off the mark for the target audience. You did get a few things wrong. While it contains the vast majority of the amps/cabs/effects, they did leave out ?3? effect models that were too DSP hungry. It supports 4 snapshots, not 3. The editor for the GO is actually different from the Helix editor (although somewhat similar in nature). You highlighted the fact that the EQ is always going to be an EQ - that is true for the amp, cab, wah, and any other fixed blocks. Only the 4 customizable blocks can be whatever you want. You were certainly correct about the factory presets being crap - that was true for the HX Stomp and various Zoom pedals as well. We don't need no stinking factory presets :) As for the mono input, you can work around that by placing the FX Loop first in the chain, and attaching to the return, which is stereo. And it DOES support MIDI (over USB), just no DIN plugs. And your iPad can be connected to the USB port through a camera kit (bluetooth would be better, though, I admit). The problem is that they didn't write an iPad version of the software. Some people will experience option paralysis - others will welcome the choices. I think there will be two types of buyers: Sophisticated users who want all of the models, but don't want to spend $1200 on an LT and can't live with only 3 footswitches like on the Stomp and don't want to buy a MIDI controller to supplement the Stomp, and Novice users who could survive happily with fewer models.
You could get a stereo input in this way, but it'll be converted to mono, as stereo blocks placed BEFORE a mono block will be converted to mono.
The following are mono. Distortion, Dynamics, Pitch/Synth, Amps/Preamps, Cabs, IRs.
The rest are Stereo: EQ, Modulation, Delay, Reverb, Filter effects. Looper is mono or stereo.
So unless these stereo blocks are at the end, they won't truely be stereo.
I have the Pod go and would not use it without my Personal IRs. That is where the sounds begin to live.
Hey Henning! I had an interesting talk with a student of mine, he is a total beginner and we wanted me to help him with his digital amp. So i said to him if you want a marshall tone try these ones they are marshalls ... he answered "what are marshalls, i need a rock tone" so, we are completely into amps and knwo what we get when we choose amps, and the manufaturers name their amp sims so that we can understand what they are modeled after and how they sound. But beginners don't get it at all and they are less and less confronted with real amp so how should they ever really understand how these amps should be ... imo digital devices should rethink their naming of amps or should add metadata that is more understandable also the controls. I know musicians that are pros and still don't know how the sound changes if the poweramp is turned fully up, so they would never use that in a simulation and they might not find the creamy tones they are after. Personally i would get rid of everything if i would design a digital amp. The names would be creamy, creamy transparent, tight metal, and so on ... nowadays i do not need more i want a certain sound, not a certain amp and i get bored of tweaking very fast now.
I’ve been saying that for years!
please explain what is "creamy" or "creamy transparent" - this means nothing to me
it's like calling open c chord a bear claw.
What would you say about the damn kemper then or the literally 100 amps of the axe-fx?
They are there but you only need one or two, then you are set. There are the snapshots, scenes, whatever the designer names them.
It's not information overload it is you being unable to adjust to the new era.
If you have (and I know you have) a smartphone, check out what it CAN do, and all the menus? It is more complex or at the same level with the pod etc.
YET, it is configured to actually forward email with one push, or do its functions without opening the settings mode.
If you have operated computers since the 80s etc...all these are a piece of cake.
If you haven't...sorry!
They are very well designed.
@@81giorikas I have no problems with naming stuff or to use menus. And i own a Kemper too, had the axe fx ultra, the eleven rack, the vetta, gt8, and many many modelers more. But beginners and the guitarists of tomorrow will have problems with it. My point is, i grew up with amps and i know how they sound, and i know modelers too so i have no problem dealing with them. But beginners nowadays have another background, they do not know how these amps sound and since everybody is relying on naming them like amps kids don't know they miss a lot of good sounds because they will not try all 270+ amps of the axe fx or the ten thousands of profiles they don't even know what they are looking for. The Pod go goes a great direction and the layout of the kemper also is great. But the tagging and naming of these maybe has to change someday otherwise it will be harder and harder to get into modelers. Also the tech-specific descriptions is not easy to understand and not well explained. Modelers are bought by beginners and pros, they offer pro features but most of them completely neglect how beginners use them and how they would need them. Even smartphones have an "easy mode" and "kid-friendly" filter options. Can deal with the modelers, but there is a learning curve that needs to go. Just putting a studio eq on there is not enough, the kemper for example offers some presets for the eq only at least. Back in the day a beginner could plug into an amp push one button for the drive channel and he could play right away. I had to waste 2 guitar lessons with a student of mine to explain him roughly how he could use this line 6 spider. Of course it has presets, and it was easy for me but not for him. So i am not happy with the "if you haven't used pc's since the 80s, sorry" i think the manufaturers should at least care about tagging. or even a easy mode. Check out Two Notes Wall of sound, their arcade mode is basically perfect in that regard. IT let's you change "warm " and "cold" and so on, everybody gets that, they just care about beginners too and people that want fast results and don't want to dive into menus
I think the same way.. I just need robust pedal with good controls and a few amps and effect to experiment wit..
Hey outstanding demo! What guitar are using at the beginning of the video, that burgundy one... Thank you for posting this..
I have to reboot mine often. some times several times before it will work. I can not trust it to gig with. I use the line 6 helix for gigging. It is not as simple to use as the pod go but it is more reliable. has anyone else had trouble with it not working correctly after start up.???
Agree about the overload comment. Too much choice can lead to to much time wasted. As a bass player i feel there is less to play with, which is good IMO. Going to replace my Stomp with one of these. Hopefully it will help tame my tinkering.
What you say in the last part makes a ton of sense... Sort of what Amplitube does with their Custom Shop. I went with the free Amplitube and just bought their AC30 sim. That with the Fender and Marshall included in the free version is really all that I need. Then I complement that with free VSTs for overdrives and effects, and... voila! All I need 90% of the time!
Howya Henning _ Thank you for the informative review on this product. I really liked the sounds from your presets rather than the Line 6 presets. Would you possibly make them available to purchase? Keep rockin out ✌🏻😎
Do they setup the presets up so that they sound good in front of an amp and direct? is it a compromise. I guess they don't know how it will be demoed in stores.
What about the Boss GT-1000? We need you to stress test it. Thanks for the videos
Just got my Pod6 GO . even as a beginner Im all ready getting some fantastic sounds out of it... and its a sound driver for interface with any music Im playing on my PC....however the first thing I learned to do it TURN OFF THAT DAMN FLASHING TAP
I really liked that 11th compressor and the 13th chorus pedal. :-) :-)
Am I wrong to want the tune at the start to just keep going for 40 minutes. Great playing bro! 😊👍🙏👏👏
you might get a chance to rewrite that tune... and win insane shit.... wait a few days
Wha!🤪
yeah that tune/song was AMAZING
Super helpful thanks for making this.
Seems like there's some noticeable audio gap when switching presets (like from 19:00) right? You say you can deal with that in live situations?
Great vid. Love the Katze antics. Danke!
Great video man! How much better in sound quality and fidelity this one is from old Boss GT 100?
Nothing sounds great out of the box. I like being able to load IRs. Plus this thing has a built in interface. Seems like a mid range ace. I am not really a fan of Line 6, but this seems legit.
I know this a year later but you are so right, this unit sounds really awesome and much more realistic (even feel wise) when you add good IRs to it...
hello henning, is it the same size with the ampero?
I really wish if they could have a connector for the JTv line series Guitar ...may be something for 2022 pod Go x
Nice cat! And nice video too.
Can you please review the headrush looperboard?keep it up love your videos!
Gt1000 as blue tooth and yes the cats Rock great review Henning 🎸🎸🎸 prefer my Tube amp and pedals horses for courses 😎
Thanks for the no go Amp solution!
I know line 6 doesn't want to cannibalize Helix sales, but I think the DSP power difference and signal chain block limitations were almost enough in an of themselves. the Pod Go could have used one or two more interface options, imho; namely, a midi out and a mono XLR. Used a Pod HD500 4 cable with midi controlling the amp functions as my effects pedalboard and as a backup for a long time. Looking for that functionality in a smaller package.
p.s....but seriously, how has Line 6 not hired a better preset guy in 20 years? :D
Never have I ever had a multi-effects/modeler that had great presets. lol The Helix is actually one of the better IMHO. I'm about to pull the trigger on PodGo. We'll see!
So if you want to do some cool tapping you can’t run distortion along with delay, phaser, reverb, and compression? Is that correct?
reallly enjoying my simple Strymon Iridium + TC Plethora X5
That setup is twice the price of the go though!
@@WRCStudio I can live with that if it spares me from squinting into a 4.3 inch screen
Great video as always! thank you
Love that opening example song bro 🤣
Hi. Tolles Video.
Danke
I get confused what the other amp setting are that sent on a normal amplifier like the bias bias x . I really struggle with a good clean sound that’s really amp like has a weird cardboardy sound lingering in the back ground that bugs me and I can’t lose bar that I love it the dirty sounds are great
as always, nothing makes more fun than my amp+ pedalboard, but the helix ecosystem is so convenient, i love it. I toured with the hx stomp, i record with the helix native and it sounds ultra good... the pod go is for me like a helix and is so greatly improved ... awesome work from line 6 imo, and great review as always!
Does anyone know if they will release a rack version in the future? I've only ever had rack versions for the Pods I've owned,as I prefer that form factor.
Just a thought on the idea that people can't make factory presets that sound "killer":
* Nobody knows how shrill your guitar sounds in their factory.
* Nobody knows how the rest of your signal chain will "ruin" their presets.
* These ain't synths. The presets are just starting points for a good reason. Your guitar. Your speaker or FRFR or amp or cab. Your studio/bedroom/venue.
Even once I've dialed up own sounds up, they just won't work in a particular song, for me, or in a particular room for me, or because it's tuesday and it's raining and that sound which I thought was killer yesterday sounds like Garbage to my ears today.
Freaking yes man. Somebody had to say it.
I've mixed whole tracks at night that sound completely different when I wake up in the morning. I'm sure sound waves travel differently at different times of the day :D
NEVER trust your Monday sounds ;)
Favorites would be a great option.
You are the best explaning everything. Really I enjoy learning, thank you from ARG
I noticed he had to tune twice with that Benson, it sounds sweet but i imagine you need to upgrade tuners on it
Could be fresh fresh strings yo
I have a good tube amp, I don't need something to sound like different amps,
I just need a good processor period. Is this it?
looking forward for the Hx stomp vs the pod go.
I think there's not a good reason for buying the Hx stomp, the most attractive thing is the dual cab but when you use it there's barely any dsp left for more necessary stuff so I think that maybe I should buy the Pod go and with the money left I could buy a better Powered speaker like the yamaha dxr 10 and not the cheap headrush frfr.
Badass killer jam bro
When I save a factory preset into a user patch, it won't let me exit user banks/patches,
and get back to factory presets.
Darn.... I just got a Hotone Ampero 4 months ago. Is the podgo worth much more than that?
Dude you need to check out atomic's amplifire as well. It's what you describe here. the right amount of options and an amazing tone (imho way better than line6, hotone or mooer) at this price range.
What do you think of not having multiple axis's for Mic placement?
What is the Pod Go made of (the body or frame of it) Plastic or metal?
funciona también con bajo como la hx stomp
Hey people! Am I understanding this right- that there are only four effect blocks you can use to assign effects like distortion, reverb, delay, etc., aside from the fixed blocks like way, volume, amp, can, and eq which are permanent?
Hola desde la Ciudad de México, está perfecto tu vídeo me gustó mucho espero ver los siguientes videos y sobretodo Gracias, Saludos!
I really like the song at the beginning.
Love your videos . Bro ... I think that the Pod Go has USB MIDI only can you make a video on that please . we would like what are our options and such . say hi to the cats.....
Is having ability to run dual cabs, amps, parallel effects worth extra $$$ for helix lt? Hmmmmm I’m new to the helix so not sure....
I wanted to buy this because of the features it packs for a small pedal. And for the price. Nowadays musicians cant gig all the time with their full gear, the cab sim and direct to pa outs are very useful for me. Plus having this for home use, or live. Its killer for the price. Thanks for this :)
You lucky people hahaha: "killer price". For me this unit costs as much as what the average person in my country earns in a month or two. And shipping alone costs A LOT.
@@rodriguezelfeliz4623 so if it's a good price for us but not for you, should we cuss at it? I'm sorry you're in the situation you are, but why would we look into prices as if we were from somewhere else?
@@alrangelal Why so angry? lol... I was just saying that you're very lucky to have access to gear at that price
@@rodriguezelfeliz4623 I'm really sorry, I guess I read it wrong.
@@alrangelal don't worry... I guess I wrote it wrong as well lol
I know there are excellent 3rd party patches to buy for Helix but not seen many good ones for the PodGo. Are the Helix patches compatible?
Nice song and stomp
Bro una pregunta no puedes poner subtítulos en español?
De pod go en español como mucho hay 4 vídeos 🙇🙇🙇🙇🙏🙏🙏
Lovely demo! Great sound, great play! May I know what song is that at 1:35?
"Six feet apart", you can actually write your own version in my huge contest and win stuff... go back a few days!
@@EytschPi42 Thank you Sir!
J'aimerais avoir la notice en Français du line 6 Pod Go je l'ai trouvé mais ne peux pas l'imprimé si qq sait comment faire Merci
The line 6 firehawk had bluetooth which was nice but it was buggy.
Is it possible to put this in my audio interface without anything else to record my guitar silent? Because i dont want effekts in my DAW like guitar rig because this sounds way better...
Actually one amp that go from clean to max distortion - like a real amp - would probably be enough. I think that is the idea behind the solid state Fender Tone Master etc...
So true. Menu diving is what has kept me away from all these multi effect options. Instead offer fewer options a more usability. A typical analog pedal board never has more than 4 drive pedals so let there be 6 just in case. You don’t need 60.
Have a look at the heaedrush
no looper in the pod go ? you could use a looper pedal in the fx loop right ?
Yes
I love that song, bro!! 🤘🏻 Is it available to buy somewhere? Great review as always! 🤗
No, I don't release my music. No point anymore.
Great song 🤘🏻😎
I think you nailed it with your 2cents Henning. I’m a bedroom player most of the time and I’ve tried a HX Stomp for a week and couldn’t overcome the option paralysis. Also I tried other boards at Thomann.
It ended in sending back the HX Stomp and got me a Orange Crush 35 RT. Yes I know a tube amp would be better sounding, but with a 25k pot in a little box connected to the effects loop gives me night time volume and would probably not work that good with tubes...
Now I have two channels, reverb and that’s all I want - no pedals, no modeling and more time for playing instead of programming.
I don’t wanna say modeling is bad - it’s just too much hassle for me 🤷🏼♂️
The Orange Crush is a good amp so give it a chance.
Western rider 100 The Crush 35 RT is the best sounding transistor amp without modeling that I’ve found.
can we connect through a daw ?
HI , thanks a lot for your video. Is the sound quality of presets PODGO is the same as a helix LT ? same depth of sound (3D sound?) ?
same exact thing
Hi Henning, would you recommend the Pod Go or the Valeton GP200? Be interested to get your thoughts.🤘
PodGo!
Are there any presets useable with a tube amp?
What Harley Benton guitar are you using?
It's hard to dial up a AC30 and not put a shimmer on it...thanks edge.
Edit: Concerning your 2 cents at the end... I would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
we need that full songs on Spotify :V
