Disclaimer about Just Egg: the packaging says to scramble so that's what I did at first like what you guys did in the video and it felt like it evaporated and got smaller and smaller. So the next time instead of scrambling I made it like an omelette and it made like twice as many servings. So definitely recommend to just cook it like an omelette!!

The secret is to cook it over a low medium heat. You can tell their pan was way too hot here. You can’t fry it up like regular eggs. I’ve found that constantly working it on a low medium heat works best. Still, I only get about 4 servings per bottle.

If you mix some silken tofu with your pressed tofu (and all of the other ingredients) when making a tofu scramble, the texture is decidedly softer and more like scrambled eggs that haven’t been over-cooked, which was a common complaint I used to hear. The silken tofu also makes the “eggs” taste more like eggs and less tofu-like. Try it. I hope that it works for you!!

When I first became vegan all they had was bean burgers available and i could only get them from a store 40 min away. Times have deffinatly changed. I agree about new vegans being spoiled. Theres no reason not to be vegan. Theres a replacement for everything

    • @emilygriffith6702
      @emilygriffith6702 Před 3 lety +15

While I agree to an extent, there is still definitely reasons some people may not be able to be vegan. Maybe people have tons of food allergies that limit what they can eat, to simple things like chicken. They get their protein primarily through mean and can’t eat many vegan things. They would eventually be starved of nutrients. Another reason would be health issues. I’ve known people that tried to do the vegan lifestyle and did it all properly with research and everything, but ended up falling ill and tired and having health issues until their doctor made them stop. And ANOTHER reason would be cost. It’s EXTREMELY expensive to be vegan and unfortunately, processed ordinary junk foods are cheapest. I come from a big and poor family and when we bought food it was usually a ton of 80% chicken sandwiches and hamburgers, huge cartons of eggs, and a giant bag of chicken that we stretched until the next month. Vegan foods just don’t come in huge cheap quantities like that. So be glad that you are easily able to be vegan and happy! Just don’t hate on others that may not be able to do the same

I had the Be Leaf vegan fried egg at a Filipino vegan restaurant as a part of a silog and it was amazing! I haven't been able to eat Filipino food in sooooo long since becoming vegan and that egg mixed with garlic fried rice and the mock meat tocino reminded me so much of the Filipino dishes I used to enjoy!

I had the Just Egg in a breakfast wrap and it was amazing. It tasted just like eggs and I couldn’t stop eating it.

Hey guys love the video! Just a loving critique here! I like that you guys are showing a first impression taste teste in this video , however I think it could be more thorough if you made some adjustments, like looking into how others prepare them and keeping it consistent and spicing all of them similarly so that its more of a fair shot! I dont think I would like any of those other than the seasoned imitation fried egg if they didnt have salt, pepper, and spices I would normally have eaten on an egg. Keep up the videos and amazing work and thanks for making an awesome informational video for us to enjoy (:
Side note:The last one makes for amazing omelettes, especially if you blend it in a mixer instead of by hand!

Thanks you. I am in the process of going vegan. I love tofu scramble but the option of the fried"egg" was great. I look forward to trying it.

I love using chickpea flour as an egg substitute. It makes great omelette and scramble 😋

I see Just Egg $3.99/4.99 at Sprouts (FL) they often have it $1 off in the app too! I like a tofu scramble or Just Egg w/garlic, onion & kale! Thanks for the video!

Loved this review! The only thing I missed and craved after going vegan was eggs. Now I have so many options 😍 I love my tofu scramble but I need to find black salt...and try all the other ones you mentioned. I like the follow your heart egg but it doesn’t taste very eggy to me...I hope I find one that completely satisfies my past love for eggs ❤️ thank you for this video!

Follow Your Heart first vegan egg scramble had algal flour and it caused many people gut issues.
I loved it. It was so close to a real egg. Cooked similar to Just egg, but tasted really good.

My favorite scramble go to is doing tofu scramble with the garbonzo flour mix. It gives a really good mix of textures.

I really wanted to try Be Leaf egg after this- there’s a vegan store in Denver called ‘Nooch’ and they had it. I tried it today on toast! Wow zeta! Very satisfying and reminiscent of a fried egg but also cleaner- I def like! Amazing what they can do these days!

Great video! Thanks for that. I learned a few things. I’ve been playing with moong dal (soaking it and then pureeing it with seasoning and making it it into a pancake/dosa type thing. I’ve been having fun with it. Doesn’t taste entirely like an egg but it’s just great being it’s own thing. We’ve been putting it inside toasted English muffins, etc. Such a healthy alternative to hens eggs. I still like me a tofu stir fry though.

Nice video thanks for the info. Just Egg is $3.99 here in NYC, 3 tablespoons equals one serving and that’s plenty enough for me.

Great video! I've only tried the just egg and I did hear a lot of people saying that the taste wasn't there so I added black salt before I even tried it and also only used it the first time in a fried rice, then in a scramble. With the black salt I thought it was actually really good and the texture was authentic. I've been curious about the be leaf and I think that I will be ordering it. I have the Hampton Creek egg in my cupboard and may give it a shot soon. I've yet to try a tofu scramble but I think I'm going to give it a try tomorrow morning with some veggies and black salt. I have never heard of the chickpea flour egg on its own but I have seen it used omelette style and that is something that I plan on trying in the future.

My secret ingredient to my tofu scram is onions like yall did but then also added some salsa and water to the pan then pouring pressed extra firm tofu crumbles in and cooking it up with adobo and tumeric. So yummy

Hi! I used the just egg in an omelet. I used vegan butter in the pan then cooked it as an omelet. I added mushrooms, onion, and spinach. Topped with vegan cheese and it was pretty good!

I like to make scrambled polenta. I make the polenta and mix in nutritional yeast, kala namak, and turmeric. Then I pour it into a 9x13 pan so that it's fairly thin and stick it in the freezer until it's cooled. I slice it into small chunks and then add it to sauteed onions/veggies. It's really good and also dirt cheap.
