I listened at work today, and am excited to be getting my picture taken with them this weekend in Chicago! What was the name of the Scottish dance Billy mentioned?
I love seeing the absolute joy on Matt’s face when he’s just listening to the silly stories of our dear hobbits. I was smiling just watching Matt smile. I love this channel and it’s so awesome that the LOTR actors come one from time to time.
Funny enough I discovered the Friendship Onion before discovering Matt’s channel, but now both are among my drop everything the second a video comes out and watch channels
@@Lord-Emperor-Vader keep going with the Fall of Gondolin... it's similar to Beren and Luthien, but the thing is that the best Beren and Luthien version is already in the Silmarillion and the Tale is not as good. In the Fall of Gondolin on the other hand the original tale is great (it's really great, you'll see) and the last rewriting (unfinished) of the story is unbelievably gourgeous. That story is included in the Silmarillion in short, but the Silmarillion doesn't do it justice.
My favourite part of this interview as an Aussie Cricket and Tolkien fan was undoubtedly when Dom spoke of The King of Spin or The Sheik of Tweak .....Shane Warne.
I still geek out on LOTR now as much as I did when my grandmother read us the novels as children. I love your channel and love hearing and seeing these actors still getting excited about the movie and stories. Plus, their accents are great to listen too! 😅
@@kalocaploc124 really the only other things I've read outside of this that would probably fall into that category are C.S. Lewis novels, and the Tales From the Kingdom are pretty good
The slosh just brought back memories of the Bay City Rollers. Chicago is in for a treat. Somebody needs to film it for prosperity. I’m sure everyone there will either be dying of laughter or dancing up a storm. Either way, these two are a scream.
Loved this interview, but you can definitely tell that Billy and Dominic have answered a bunch of these questions before and are getting a bit weary of it. Though I guess it's sort of inevitable after 20 years!
HaHa! Oh boy this pleases me very much. Great to see the due again, a few more grey hairs of course but that chemistry is still going strong. Just takes me back to that wonderful time when the movies were released. Nice one Matt! The perfect host.
apologies for the oh-so-late comments so long after this video was posted, but I've only just discovered Matt's channel and getting caught up. Anyway, I have watched a few of The Friendship Onion videos and I'm always amazed at how low & growly Dom's voice is when he didn't sound that way in the LoTR movies. Now, next on my watch list is the interview with John Rhys-Davies!
34:28 Oh, I wish I had stayed, but I was referring to LotR. That being said, I am writing a series set in the Fourth Age starring Pippin's great-granddaughter solving mysteries. But, if you'd rather, I could get some work done on my Star Trek/Hobbit series where the Hobbits find a spaceship hidden in the Shire and visit other fantasy worlds. But I wouldn't worry about getting that into an audiobook, would rather people just read it, lol. But thanks for the answer!
The thing with 111 runs is called a Nelson no-one is completely sure where it comes from. I was told as a kid that it came from Nelson having one arm, one eye and one leg but he never lost a leg and though he lost sight in one eye he still had both. There was an umpire who always stood on one leg at that score but it isn't seen much these days.
I hope to they make an appearance in the final episodes of Stranger things as Bob's cousins from across the pond. Maybe they can be visiting his grave and of course also get eaten by a demogorgon.

Seans dancing was by far the best.
Lord of the Dance! :)
I love that these two boys are such close friends still.
Just finished watching and this was a great one. Their chemistry is amazing and their energy and passion is contagious.
Oh my goodness. Their voices feel so much like home and childhood.
Dude! A scouring of the shire animated short would be so great.
The only bummer would be not having Sir Christopher Lee around as saruman.
Those two are my favorites!! Let’s gooo
Funny enough I discovered the Friendship Onion before discovering Matt’s channel, but now both are among my drop everything the second a video comes out and watch channels
This was such a fun stream! I love their podcast and hope to see them back here and other LOTR stars too :)
This was awsome..such fun to listen to these legends, an interview with Elijah should be next to complete all the four Hobbits! 🧙♂️
Andy serkis did a fantastic job of reading the whole lord of the rings, it was great if you guys havent listened to it ♥️🔥
Love them and love how Billy has voiced a new character on The Elder Scrolls Online!!
I want to thank you for getting me deeper into Tolkien I finished the Silmarillion and am almost done with Beren and Lúthien
Oh id love to read that need to start the trilogy of books first
Beren and luthien is a tough read. Respect
@@Mattkayina I finished it a few hours ago and it was good but repetitive since it keeps retelling the story

They really are Merry and Pippin in real life.

dude... you were so lucky to have a grandmother like that, i bet she was amazing!!
@@kalocaploc124 She was...and gifted me a first American edition of The Hobbit too!

Watching the replay. Really enjoyed this
its always nice to see Merry and Pippin :)
Thank you so much for this! This was an amazing stream. I'm very excited to meet them this weekend; I'll have to try to dance the Slosh with them.

Love listening to these guys just chat away.
You can drink 'em by the pint
You can drink 'em by the flagon
But the only brew for the brave and true
Comes from the Green Dragon

As a Scottish person I can attest I have seen the slosh at every school disco, wedding, prom and generally sometimes just piss up (drinking affair)
Omg this is so amazing!!!

Wow how cool
Please stay friends forever. The world will fall into shadow if you don’t.
I would have love to watch this live, but no internet and I would love to see these 4 at comic con, but I am not from the US.
What about second breakfast?
Best podcast yet 👏

Can we get an interview with Ian McKellen aka gandalf I am dying to hear an interview with him on here
That guys are great :)
🙌
Not Penny's Boat
Maybe we can get their audio file and sync it up
seems like the boys didn’t have it set up correctly on their end to go though their mics…
I hope to they make an appearance in the final episodes of Stranger things as Bob's cousins from across the pond. Maybe they can be visiting his grave and of course also get eaten by a demogorgon.
👏👏
Have they answered any unseen footage like other actor interviews?
It's like baseball, but you're stuck in an alley instead of a field
Yeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeah 😎👊🙏
Great Stream
Please ask, of all your work in your career, where does your work on lotr stand and what does it mean to you?
interesting the views is so low compared to all the other videos
😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩
Merry and Pippin are PIMPS
Dom and Billy are my favourite gay couple who aren't a gay couple.
lol!
TIL platonic friendships don't exist between men they must just be gay

The Friendship Onion

Conversations about Tolkien, twice removed...

Most likely a second monitor
Absolutely, Positively BORING
