  • Selective thinning, probably the last before they are left to develop into saw timber.

It’s called thinning so the big trees can grow better

Tyler, you have the right answer about the toothpicks. Planting pine trees in what seems like an overpopulation allows the land owner or paper company to harvest at least three times. I planted some on my land in 1987 and they have been thinned twice. They are now beginning to look like power poles and will be worth some money in a few more years. Too many trolls in these comments!!!

not to be a troll but are the trees just 5 years old in Canada we have been replanting since the 60's to 70's and thoughs trees have not been logged yet and market wise America is self sufficient in everything under 6 inches but I do not know how that stuff is profitable unless your the land owner and builder/ contractor are the same person

+crackshot519 The south has some advantages over canada for logging and profitability. 1. The ground is easy to work, nice flat and sandy 2. The haul distances to the mill are usually under an hour on paved roads 3. A hydro ax/wheeled feller buncher is cheaper to operate than a tracked feller buncher and can move faster from tree to tree on easy ground.

what ever your opinion is, it is efficient

Wtf this is so insufficient, If you change some of your machines to for example (Gremo 1050H and an 1450F would do just great) or (Ponsse SCORPIONKING or an BEAR and an BUFFALOKING or an ELEPHANTKING to that), Because the can go in worse conditions the don’t destroy the ground as easy cause of their weight distribution on their 8 wheels they are also more efficient due to that the tree cutters (1050H and SCORPIONKING are able to cutt the branches off them self.
Getting two off these machines would make tree off them you showed in the video needless as all 4 of them I just mentioned do it cleaner and more efficient.
