  • We have had a few people make our Apollo EFHW and have trouble tuning it afterwards and found this to be most peoples problem. Watch till the end to see how I like to install the capacitor.

On the ground lug..u should use double nut...one.down first against the platform..then the second holding the eyelet down..by having a double jam nut they will lock to themselves and never ever come loose...but not really a bug deal ...just a thought ...awsome awaome design...

That a nice 49:1 kit, I do mine a little different. mostly I am using 2 stack of ferrite cores, like FT 240-61 . and wound with 10 AWG mag wire. I use a nut and bolt with ring terminal . for multi use mono band cut wire. yesterday 12meters was hot. had pile up from NY to England and around, 800 watt SSB and ferrite stayed cool. using DX commander pole and his wire. got 1.3 SWR 12 meters. wish you had winder for T240 and SO 239. 73's

Good video. Thanks. I figured that out with a continuity test. Took me a minute then just used a very small piece of the extra magnet wire to bridge the two wires. Right about 1:1 to 1.5:1 on all bands.

Great detail and info, especially for us OM's. Lol
I will be making mine in the coming weeks, so it will be very helpful.👍🍻

Scientific note here: Solder flows to the heat source.

Funny… I made that exact mistake on my first EFHW. Once I figured it out, it’s now my main antenna. In my 70’ oak as a vertical. 73 de W3OY

@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures it’s counterintuitive to how most people think… having the primary shorted to everything else, just seems like it would be wrong… yet it is exactly right.
