      Brosnan Yard has been very busy a few years ago. It's great fun watching trains going in and coming out of the yard.

    A couple of weird looking slugs. I knew NS had them but that was my first time seeing them. Some great looking DPU action also. That RSSX is a funny looking conversion locomotive. Excellent video. Just what I needed on this evening.

      I wish I could go there more often, but it's almost a two-hour drive from where I live and railfanning Macon can be strenuous, because action can go on simultaneously on both yard ends and the bypass.

      There are several reasons why I love railfanning in Macon. One of it is the weather :) And I like the industrial layout around the yard, although it must have been even more amazing in the good old steam days...

    When you move a slug around the yard can it move by itself,(with an operator)? Does it have to be pulled by an engine?

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  Před 4 lety

      Slugs don't have an engine. They must be mated to a locomotive. Their major purpose is to provide extra traction, but not horsepower.

    We see a lot of amazing black stallions here and as always the midtrain helpers are fantastic. I'd like to ask two things. 1.: Do you plan a trip to Florida to film the beautiful FEC Gevos? 2.: Could an Amtrak P42DC pull an average freight train (50-60 cars)? Is it strong enough? This is another entertaining video, I enjoyed it. :)

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  Před 4 lety +1

      First, thanks as always! 1. I have no plans to railfan in Florida soon, but it would certainly be nice. 2. I think the answer is yes. It has enough horse power, but it also might be a little weak regarding tractive effort (after all it has been designed as a passenger train engine). So, it could be a slow and maybe slippery start, but it would work better once the train is rolling.
