I’ve worked out with some strong guys doing the same. Guys repping out 350-400 15-20 reps. plus on both they too no shoes. I’m 53 you think it matters at this point. I’m only doing 300-350 1-15 reps

    Platz would only squat once or twice a month
    Dorian Yates only hit legs once or twice a month.
    Moving massive amounts of weight also requires massive recovery.
    The caveat is that Platz would still do a set of legs weekly. He would only squat and have his dedicated leg day once or twice a month. He still hit them regularly for maintenance/atrophy reasons.

      @albertfinney5478 Před 7 lety +3

      Nathan Newman kid's you can learn that you will look like an average man again when you stop the steroids. Tom has a great personality, and is a great speaker as a steroid user, but his physique today proves that steroids gave him all his gains. Drug induced Bodybuilding is artificial. Nobody keeps their gains when they come off, fact.

    • @duck_5021
      @duck_5021 Před 7 lety +9

      However, you are completely disregarding the main point. Steroids are part of the sport everyone has access to them therefore its a level playing field. The mistake is you are being ignorant and disregarding all the effort that Mr.Platz has put in. You don't take steroids sit on a sofa and magically obtain the best legs in history. As current 6 time Mr Olympia Phil Heath and many other bodybuilders have said if there were no steroids those who are at the top would still be at the top.

    Mel Gibson's brother!...
    Now, seriously. When I started bodybuilding in 1988 (with competing in mind), he was one of my idols.
    To this day I think that end of 70s and the first half of 80s is the BEST TIME OF BODYBUILDING EVER.
    And Tom Platz definately was part of it.
    I watched videos and saw photographs of 1981 Mr Olympia contest and you know what?
    It was as just as bad and controversial as 1980 one!
    I think Tom Platz sould have won. Not Franco Columbu.
    I'm not an IFBB judge but in my opinion the first 3 placings should be like:
    1. Tom Platz
    2. Danny Padilla
    3. Franco Columbu (if not 4th)

      Pro Skillz, Tom is correct about power. You are correct about distance being a scalar quantity. However, power is also a scalar quantity, it has no direction.
      Power = work/time = dW/dt = d/dt (F•x)
      = (force • distance)/time = F (dx/dt)
      = force • speed = F•v
