“That can’t be”: Neighbours of Trump shooter react to assassination attempt

- Two days after Thomas Matthew Crooks failed an attempt to assassinate Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Penn. - and was shot dead as a result - neighbours of the 20-year-old suspect have expressed their thoughts on the matter.
Some displayed shock, others displayed disbelief, and many others were “not even a little bit surprised” by the actions of the seemingly mild-mannered man.
“I first heard it on the news on the television last night,” said Cathy, a resident from Crooks’ hometown of Bethel Park, Penn. “I was like totally no, they have to have it wrong, that can't be, that just doesn't make sense,” she added.
Though Trump narrowly avoided death at his Saturday rally, a 50-year-old man was killed, and two others were wounded in the crossfire.
Crooks lived roughly an hour’s drive away from the event grounds and only 25 minutes away from a gun club - which he became a member of the year prior.

MENTAL HEALTH AND BULLYING - My brother was handicapped and bullied every day in school. I lived with him and witnessed what it did to him. He had a heart condition on top of looking different. He was a straight A student. He was a kind soul and I always gave him support at home. It changed my life, and I know that adults and children can be vicious from being bullied. Everything that happened here in this historical day is about “bullying.” Kids are not born vicious, they are taught through their home life sometimes, parents, their environment, bullies at school, and teachers that do nothing about it. Our schools need to change - BULLIES NEED TO BE EXPELLED FROM SCHOOLS. This is a "mental health issue" in our schools. I went back to college for a second time for literature. I am writing a novel about how kids should treat each other, and their environment. I hope I can make a difference - even if it is a small difference! This incident was about "Bullying" and how this kid hated bullies. I pray for the families that were hurt so badly. That is what is so wrong about "political hatred and bullying" today. This is not an example for our children!

That's an issue when your neighbors don't even know you are. We have isolated our selfs in our homes and only play video games and on social media arguing about politics. Let's get to know our neighbors, bring each other food or whatever.. i mean, saying hi hiw you doing is free.

The invisible young man, there is a trend in the last number of years of lost disconnected young men carrying out acts that no one would have foreseen. As a society we want answers but those answers may never really be known, its sad because this thing happens far to often with tragic results.
I'm not insinuating any kind of inbreeding or anything like that but, is it just me or do all of these neighbors look eerily the same, like a family resemblance?

Yeah, earlier, the same woman said he seemed like a nice kid. I'm sure they asked her about an assassination attempt in general, yet made it seem like she was talking about this guy. If they were cutting for time, they could have shown the question on screen.
So we have one mexican student saying that crooks was very anti trump. But we also have students who knew him saying he was pro trump? In my mind, they trained the kid to appear as a republican for around 2-3 years in preperation for this moment.
He donated money to ActBlue which is action committee which rises money for left leaning and democrats politicians and then he registered to vote Republican. Which is strange. He also did not have friends (or use) facebook, tiktok, instagram or any other social media which is very, very strange. In fact it is nearly impossible.

regarding bullying in school - teaching and instilling self confidence and being able to brush off the comments of others is imperative.
We much teach this! Parents must teach it and teachers too! We only have control over how we respond to others. We can not control them.
Every parent’s job as a parent is to be their child’s biggest cheerleader and biggest fan. Building self confidence at a young age
is so needed.
Stop letting phones and social media raise our kids. A strong foundation in childhood makes it nearly impossible to be torn down.
Not sure why that is controversial or different to understand. Because we Can NOT control others. We can only control our response to them.
It's not an excuse, but it may help to explain it. The 20 year old shooter in Pennsylvania couldn’t stand up to his bullies in high school, so as an adult he convinced himself he was being a hero in standing up to a bully President that says mean things in tweets.
Unfortunately, children don't have a firm understanding of psychology. If they did, being the insecure bully wouldn't be label that anyone would want.
