Just because she was a Nurse does NOT mean she could have gave him first aid...my grandmother was a Nurse her whole life, but when my grandfather had an allergic reaction to food and his throat swelled up she was screaming for people to call 911. This was out in public.

Because there isn’t much you can do when someone’s going into anaphylactic shock outside of a healthcare setting besides using an epi pen. If he didn’t have one, it would make sense she would have others contact emergency services while she stays with him and monitors his airway and breathing.

I was able to handle my son's near drowning despite being in a panic and yet when he was choking and no amount of heimlich (child or infant) was dislodging the.item and he was getting bluer and bluer (cyanotic) I started to emotionally react. I'm not saying that I agree with her sentencing, but if the abuse she suffered from her husband came out in the court case, the jurors probably figured that although she killed her husband, there was a good chance that she was not a further threat to the rest of the community, and allowed the testimony of her kids to sway them into not having her serve jail time.

Also yeah for a gun shot to the head I don't think there's much she could have been able to do and probably not moving him or moving him as little as possible could have also been seen as first aid, moving him improperly could of made things worse.

I always think about the poor nurse who just wants to go home. Nurses can't leave until they have coverage. Also, you can't just leave because you can be charged with abandonment. As a nurse I know someone who's just worked a 12.5hr shift just wants to go home. If I was in that situation I would probably call in too so they could find a replacement.

Personally, the husband reminds me of my grandpa and he shot himself in the leg and made it look like my grandma did it. He was abusing her for years. He ran over her legs with his car, he held a shot gun to her multiple times, he was always accusing her of cheating, he choked her and so many other things. My grandma finally got to a point where she found a safe way to leave. That's when my grandpa shot himself and my grandma went to jail for 3 months until her trial and they found her innocent. The only reason she was found innocent was because she had an alibi, she wasn't even in the same city at the time and the fact that they held her in jail was freaking ridiculous. Other than that it looked so convincing and all of the evidence lined up to look like someone else shot him.
But I'm willing to admit that I'm biased, and my judgment is based on personal experience and it might not apply to this situation.
