- So... I intended this one to be a quicker video at around the 5-7 minutes range. I ended up getting enough stuff for a good 11-12 minutes of stuff to work with. So enjoy this, truth be told very hastily put together thing and let me know if you want me to do more stuff about this game somewhere.
If you wanna know my thoughts on Ring Racers at the moment. I currently like it less than SRB2Kart in both game's current state. But I'm willing to give Ring Racers more time to cook as it's brand new, I'm still getting used to the controls of the game and let's be honest here. Most of the content that SRB2Kart dropped with was questionable. Ring Racers isn't much different on that regard. So it's up to the community to make some more amazing stuff for it!

Physics wise, this really is the Super Smash Bros of kart racers
Personally, I'd compare it more to Rivals of Aether since it has mod support.

Yeah. Especially with the agresive ai. You get hit on a slope then its game over most of the time
Spin Dash and Ring Boost are right there. I don't think they're that big of an issue.
@@numbertumbers529 After a while of playing you get used to using the spin dash but it still feels kinda sloppy honestly, it feels like that move was made specifically because they realised that if you ended up having no rings in a slope you were basically screwed yet they didn't want to fix the slopes themselves

Assuming this game has customizable lobbies for single/multiplayer, what I would suggest, is to add a slider for knock back during races, that way you can either reduce it, or increase it even more
...Make knockback increase based on ring difference between racers.
...set knockback distances against hazard/items based on item rarity.

Bit sad fall outs are insta respawns as it kinda cuts back on the funny potential of being sent to the void with a death sound/meme.
Yeah, I kinda miss the old fallout as well. I know it didn't sit too well with players and felt like too much time lost. I can at least say sometimes the distance you travel after a fallout is comical. Small shout-out to 11:25 where after the fallout I was dragged close enough to where I originally got hit, then dropped off presumably where the next checkpoint was. It did take me a good while for me to process what happened when it did happen.
On the other hand, characters seem significantly bouncier, at least for vertical bouncing. Trade out sent to void memes with super ball memes

@@FluppietheRockruffFanYeah, I think a Wii style fallout would be better than just suddenly getting sent back as soon as you hit the trigger plane.
Maybe you are forced into using the respawn if on ground (though are given an express 1s charge time instead of the usual 3s) or have a 1-2 second delay before being respawned where the camera freezes and lets you hear the character panic.
Or dip under the water/lava.
Would also be cool to see the character smoking after falling in lava. Hell, extend it to being blasted by an explosion, that'll also be fun to see!
T'would also help if even lightly brushing against a wall didn't bounce you away at 5x the velocity you touched it at...

honestly the hitstun can be PAINFULLY long, and combined with the fact you can sometimes turn into a pinball after beinv hit makes it so much worse
And Fastfall...

The fastfall has probably been the cause for so many of my frustrations with this game (and i havent even mentioned how if you fall onto a surface and get almost immediately flinged back up, you need to REPRESS IT (WHILE DEALING WITH THE BOUNCE.)

Yeah I get that often. And yeah, Ring Racers is actually kinda fun once you get used to the controls. The hitstop itself I've gotten used to and don't really mind as it helps with processing all the absurd knockback that happens all the time as without the hitstop it would fall into "sensory overload" territory with how much the camera would live all over the place. I don't like the hitstop being applied to the tripwires on shortcuts though.

How do you guys start with the 3 2 1 countdown? I have literally no idea.
How I do it, is I start charging my spindash the moment the number "3" appears. By the time it reaches "Go" the spindash should be charged up enough to give you good speed.

@@FleskhjertaYeah. Mail is a Class E character, which means their spindash takes some time to go full blast, usually at 3. However, class A, D, and G, for example Tails, has high acceleration, meaning their spindash charges up faster, and would be ideal to start charging at 2.

You know, the unlock screen suggests that you can skip it without having gone through it before (quote: This is unlocked for completing the tutorial or managing to skip it)... but then you'd not have Popful Mail unlocked yet, so the point is moot.
Keep in mind as well that this was recorded before 2.1 where in order to skip the tutorial you have to take the path I did and beat a very hard race in the Test Track. Now in 2.1 you can supposedly skip it after a bit into it, and also the race to completely skip the tutorial is easier as well.

Is there a code that allows you to unlock the characters early, or are you just that good at the game?
There is a code that let's you unlock everything.... temporarily. Basically unlocks everything until you close the game down. It's included in a text file called "PASSWORDS" in the latest update somewhere. Not naming it in case you don't wanna be spoiled. But for this video, I did not use that code. Let's just say a gentleman somewhere handed out a complete save file which I snagged and inserted onto my gaming pc to record this video.

I think it's really funny watching people get punished for having 0 rings and blaming everyone but themselves.
Like I think the punishment of getting ragdolled everywhere and it continuing and continuing is extreme but like, being low rings is your fault (there's exceptions like the mine that removes 20 rings, getting star collided, etc.)

i wish i knew that you could skip the tutorial 😭 (but admittedly i played the game like an hour after it released so idk if it was discovered yet)
In the latest version, you have the option to skip the tutorial after the Spring session I do believe somewhere. Otherwise if you wanna skip the tutorial entirely, at the very start of the tutorial, turn around and drive into the tunnel and you'll be taken to a tough race where you need to score 4th place or higher to skip the tutorial. Be warned, it's not an easy race. It used to be even harder in the launch version.

I guess the message at the end was a little oddly setup and was misinterpreted. My overall view point on SRB2Kart and Ring Racers is that I still prefer SRB2Kart over Ring Racers. But only by a small margin. Main reason for me being all of the existing mods for SRB2Kart which helps make the game experience not only much better but also very customizable to your liking. While Ring Racers got a ton more base game content going on, but some questionable decisions here and there which some I still fully agree with and some that I have more or less accepted. Plus Ring Racers is like what, 1 month ago now? Much like SRB2Kart once it gets more mods going for it (and some more developer updates as well), it'll become a much better game.

@@AltKaxREAL a lot of the physics from the first game are super exaggerated in order to produce more funny clips and get more recognition, the item balance in general is far more chaotic, there’s kino broshima momentumcore added in order to attract people who think 3d sonic has to be a momentumfest
