- Frank Lazzaro of Darbuka Planet demonstrates the quick and easy way to change out your darbuka or doumbek drum head using the tuning key supplied with your drum. Darbuka heads can be changed to an upgraded head such as Remo or Power beat, or if the head needs replacement due to damage or wear from prolonged use.

excellent demonstration. thank you fark
Have a little custard cup or cat food can or anything, to put the bolts in! Also, make sure they're lubricated, something like white grease is ideal but just about anything is OK.
Thank you
Great video... I liked how easy it went.
Clear!
Thank You
buonasera, ho 2 doumbek : 1 gewa 3000 corpo in rame e 1 alexandria corpo in ceramica. Dovrei sostituire le pelli di entrambi da 22 cm o 8,5". Potrebbe fornirmele o indicarmi dove poterle comprare? La ringrazio per l'attenzione ed invio cordiali saluti. Luciano Viola
How often would you change your darbuka head after buying it?
it depends on how much you play it. If less than an hour per day you may change it after about 1-2 years, but if you play it every day an hour or more it might be time to change the head after 6 six month. However, this is not a fixed rule. Your sound / feeling will tell you when to change it. Hope that helps!
But Jawhert El Fan head is pretty decent no?
Ali H , yes it's good skin but if you looking for different sound , you can replace it
