I feel safe like i can completely trust you, with my heart. Thank you Master.
What i really appreciate is the nurturing way you explain so self-assuredly & accurately as if you know where we all are, & as if these techniques are good for advanced and beginners alike so we can advance as fast as we can or refine ourselves internally. You demonstrate connections between easy simple and complexity, teaching us terminologies too. You're A Great Teacher!

I like your lessons, they are great!
I have a question for you:
I bouth a cheap, used darbuka from Alexandria and the sound is not great. I don't have much fun playing it. So I am wondering, how much does the skin affect the sound of darbuka?
Or if the body of the drum is in the low quality, the skin won't make a big difference?
A good skin costs the half of my darbuka, so maybe I should directly invest in a new drum🤔
What do you think about that?
I would appreciate your feedback 😊

It's important not to drift too far from the original turkish techniques.
Thumb Tips Roll... I'd rather use the Raquy L1L3 Thumb L1L3 Tips. That way your 13 strokes have a different pitch and let's be honest, the Thumb stroke doesn't sound that good.
The butterfly roll is a zarb / tombak roll. If you wanna see a great butterfly roll, go to an experienced zarb player, they will show you.
8 finger rolls I have never seen anyone use that with a significant enough volume level. It's important to know what you want to do with this. Live on a stage with a band? 8 fingers roll? It's useless.
In your living with your buddy playing guitar? Perfectly fine!
Triplet Roll and Quadruple Roll: very good tips in there! I'd add to also practice those while sticking your finger to the skin. It's very hard to develop volume with these techniques and therefore important to work on it. Look at players like Hakan Kaya. There's a lot of power in there and if you ever jam with other people it's gonna come in hand.
I love the creativity but be sure to split the original techniques that work vs what you have just thought about in your living room and may not have practical use to them.

If this is true it's could be important we weed out useless insubstantial techniques so as not to propagate them. This can be considered for martial arts or population control, but sometimes things+evolutions can come in circles making nothing obsolete. With better technologies microphones+balancing for example, refining useless techniques may become superior?
