      The giant beet was new to me. That was incredible. You see giant pumpkins every year.

      @@burninoutloud Yeah, that beet was UNREAL right?!?! It helps to see it in contrast to a normal sized beet. Just crazy!

    I just started watching this series. I’m born and raised in Alaska. Lived there my whole life, 33 years. Had to move to Colorado in 2020 for family. I have to say that I am so very impressed with how well you two documented my home state. Parts of this had me in tears with home sickness. Thank you.

      Wow, thank you so much. Thank you for taking the time to write this to us. It really, truly means so much to get this kind of feedback, especially from some born and raised in Alaska. Your words hit home. Thank you.

      Don’t worry, the fair never ever ever changes. You can come back any or every year and nothing is different. Been going since 1980 when I was born. It’s the exact same

    I have lived my whole life in Alaska (currently, 20 mins from the fairgrounds). I love it here so much. I just discovered your channel yesterday and it has been such a treat catching up on all of your Alaska videos. You do an excellent job of characterizing this amazing place and I love that you really take your time exploring. I could watch these videos for hours.

      Hi there! Oh, we're so happy you found us! And wow, that is a huge compliment coming from someone who has lived their whole life in Alaska. Thank you so so much! Happy you are on the journey with us now!

  • @engletinaknickerbocker5380

    Very informative. I used to stay one summer at Knik, and rode my bike into Palmer on the weekends. When I was a kid, we used to stop at the U-Pick carrot farm and make a haul of the sweetest and loveliest fresh specimens that we'd store in dirt in a large wooden crate in the root cellar, and sneak downstairs for a handful. Just wipe the dirt off. The dance at 10:36 looked like 'Going on a Whale Hunt' that we learned in school.

    Good for you guys! So many CZcamsrs would be scared to death to show a seal being butchered on their channels. Way to keep it real. I love it. The whole episode was pure quality. Pretty much what I've come to expect from you guys.

    This video is incredible. You guys do an incredible job of educating your audience in this video. We are adjusting our schedule to include the fair in 2024. We are slipping it in between when our kids visit in early August to see Fairbanks & Denali and our second stay in Denali later in August. We cannot believe we are leaving for Alaska in about 10 weeks. Four weeks to get to the Canadian border in Montana and a little over two weeks through Canada we will start our four month Alaskan adventure. You guys have a big influence on our experience. Who know how things work out by a chance opportunity to park in a parking lot in Anchorage in October 2022.

      Oh awesome!!! Word to the wise - they bring in the veggies about a week INTO the fair! This we didn't know and went a couple days after the fair opened, and the veggies weren't there. I had to go back to see and film the veggies. Dang. I totally should have written that into the script. I would definitely check the fair schedule and see when they have the weigh off events - that for sure will let you know when the veggies will be there!

    On top of just going places and clips of scenes, these videos stand out high among the pack come to the research from which the audience can learn something. May that be history, culture, current issues, and most of all, natural environment.
    That’s why we extend our necks in looking forward to the next video posted.
    Thank you for all your efforts.

    You guys captured the fair with great attention to detail, yet the content is very approachable. We are really bummed that we will miss the fair by just a few days this year. I didn't realize the timing of this until after I had booked our time in Denali, and we can't change that now. We will be in Palmer for a few days right before the fair, so perhaps we will still be able to see some interesting things. Do you have any recommendations for must-see attractions or activities in the Palmer area during that time? Thanks for making this video; we truly admire your content creation! :)

    • @ArtWeThereYet
      @ArtWeThereYet  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Aw shucks, that’s a bummer. But also hurray for your Denali adventure!
      When in Palmer definitely check out the Visitor Center museum + garden. Also stop in quick at the Colony House - it’s one block from the Visitor Center, so nice and convenient!
      And then Jose and I were talking about this over breakfast…if you time you should definitely go up into Hatcher Pass and visit Independence Mine! czcams.com/video/qhGiy5KsBUw/video.htmlsi=O8CvdO9-YrHXJysU

    Have you ever seen some goats climbing a big river damm to lick the very important salt from the surface. Feels like gravity has no impact to them. They are such great climbers.

    • @ArtWeThereYet
      @ArtWeThereYet  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes, they are amazing! Here in Alaska there are wild goats and sheep that live on rock mountainsides, as if it were flat ground. Absolutely incredible!

    I like the NatGeo style of your videos. Keep it up, plus consistency, and I'm sure your channel will grow. I've watched TruckHouseLife channel go from 12k subs to almost 430k subs in one year, and he has been at 12k level for years. Btw, try doing a collab with him. He's also a singer. Best of luck! I migrated to US from mother Ukraine 16 years ago, and Alaska has been on my bucket list for a while. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

      @@ArtWeThereYet Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. What part of Ukraine did you visit? How long ago was that? Ukraine's history has been very dynamic since the 1990s)) The war is horrible, and hopefully it'll end soon!

    Was there a lot of Hmong people there showing their Veg? The reason I ask is they are known for being good farmers and a lot have moved to Alaska.

    • @ArtWeThereYet
      @ArtWeThereYet  Před 6 měsíci

      You know, I'm not sure! The veggies were all there, sans the people who grew them, and we were so fixated on filming we weren't paying too much attention to the names on the veggies!
