Congratulation George for fifteen thousand subs, great channel you have.Great fishing trip and a few beauties landed too.Tight lines and greetings from NZ,, Tony.
Great clips, there was a good rise tonight on the Suir after 8 and still going when I left before 10, only caught one and left it back for another day.
Great video ! Loved wathcing you peruse the last trout can I ask do you use monofilament for your dry fly fishing or fluorocarbon and do you degrease the leader ?
Monafilament is what I use, I never had much success with flourocarbon, perhaps I need to learn new knots that work with it, it seems to fail using my old fashioned knots, and yes, it's critical to degrease the leader.
For those of us with poor eyesight, what do you suggest for seeing the fly when fishing a small dry fly (like a griffith’s gnat or a small terrestrial pattern like an ant)? I was fishing a small local stream over the weekend with a dry-dropper, but damn if I just could not see the ant pattern. I don’t know what to do other than use a larger dry fly, which means it likely won’t be effective. Do you ever use a yarn indicator or something similar to help see the dry fly?
This is one of the questions I'm asked all the time. Any form of indicator or larger than natural sized fly will scare wild trout, so I never use either. I have found that one doesn't necessarily have to see the fly if one can cast accurately at short range, you may not see the fly but you will know approximately where it is and respond to any rise in the immediate vicinity, practice short range accuracy on your lawn, practice till you can drop the fly on a saucer at 3 rod lengths, that works for everyone I've suggested it to, best of luck.
Some nice fish there, I’ve been out the last 3 days and it hasn’t been very good, do u find catching trout later in the year around August September more difficult than earlier in the year? I love fishing dry fly but my dry fly fishing comes to an end in august as I would hardly see a trout rise . From now until October everyone on my local rivers fish for dollaghan coming from lough neagh but I’m still happy fishing for small trout on spider patterns. The fish just doesn’t seem very active.
Yes there's some truth in that alright, rivers are generally low and "sour" and fish are relatively inactive, although I find September can be a good month if water levels are good, as fish can be anxious to feed up for the coming spawning.
Great stuff man there's no fishing like brown trout fishing keep up the good work 👍 beautiful trout
Thanks! Will do!
Nice sized browns in a small stream. Good to see a video without annoying music in the background. Well done....very enjoyable.
