Interesting fact, Pity Party was based on It’s My Party by Lesley Gore and some pretty traumatic real life events of Melanie. Melanie said she wrote this song so people would understand a tiny bit of how lonely and rejected she was as a child, and the emotions she felt while going through it, just for being "different from the other children". I think a lot of us can relate to that, sadly.
Oh, also, she invites "Johnny", the character from soap and training wheels, and he doesn't show up. Johnny is also the name of Lesley's boyfriend, that left her party with another girl back in the time, nice easter egg.

1. Yes, these are her real tattoos (in the k-12 album, when shooting the film, she covered them up to separate herself from the character (in the portals album, she went further and I think this is a great move))
2. The names on the invitations reveal the names of the other characters in the previous music videos and the characters that will appear in the next ones (at least one (if I remember correctly))
❗Theory❗
Given that there are 9 candles on the cake, then crybaby is 9 years old at the time of this mv. This means that the chronology of crybaby album and k-12 is parallel for some time (I think that mad hatter (crybaby album) takes place at the same time as the nurse's office (k-12)) since the hairstyles are very similar and in both music videos she uses some kind of drink. Well, either it was just a mistake and I'm looking for a non-existent meaning
although if you consider the approximate age, given that each song in k-12 is the next grade and year, then at the time of the nurse's office she will be 9, so this theory is probably untenable
I always had one candle for good luck, so if she did that she'd be 8
Next is "Tag You're It" she has another double feature video for this one, it also includes next song in the story "Milk & Cookies" GREAT VIDEO BTW! So glad you are loving Melanie :)
Some of her tattoos tell a story (like the rabbit on her thigh). I love how in the video it shows her slowly losing her mind, trying to make herself feel better about it and thinking that she needs to change something about herself,letters,or whatever. I'm glad in k-12 she learns that true friends will be there for you and will love you no matter what. She is actually a super sweet person that likes to spread kindness and love. I would love to see you make a video with her and talk to her in person/video call one day! It would be fun to watch and get to know her more. Plus how she writes her lyrics since they're very unique and like a poem.

My junior year of HS I was president of our GSA. I planned an LGBTQ+ Prom and literally there were 10 people there. The core of my club, my date, and the people I paid to work the event. Super depressing because I put in a lot of work, especially marketing, but we still had a great time. Everyone danced together and my date was really awesome.
Next is Tag, You're It and Milk and Cookies double feature (Milk and Cookies is my personal favorite on the Crybaby album).
Also, not sure if you noticed that Crybaby wrote an invitation to Johnny (the boy from Soap and Training Wheels) and he didn't show up to her party either.
On one of my birthdays either 16 or 17 my aunt offered to host my party and my Mom agreed because the apartment we lived in at the time was to small and so she said we could have it at her place so we started planning my birthday party but my aunt also wanted it to be a Valentine's day party so my other aunts asked if they could get any decorations and My Mom and I agreed to have their help and Mom and I got the cake, extra chairs for seating and got all other things handled. Long story short; there was none of the decorations for my party and it's was all just about Valentine's day and the only thing that signified my birthday party was the cake that said happy birthday bella on it and since there I've only celebrated with My Mom and my siblings 😔😳😅😂

It's sometimes very easy to confuse reality and fiction. Cry Baby is a fictional character written by Melanie Martinez. She had a different fictional life than her writer, who is a real person and has a different (and much better) life than her creation. The writer sometimes weaves her own experience into the story. Still, she sometimes draws from other people around her, like the Cry Baby origin story (the first three songs on the Cry Baby album) influenced by a story from her neighbourhood.
You know what’s sadder than nobody showing up to your party? Is having a birthday party with your cousin cuz y’all’s birthday is a week apart and both of you invite people and everyone they invited you feel uncomfortable around and all of them came but nobody you invited came and nobody even looks at you and all the attention is on him

9:35 oww that hit me like a ton of bricks..last week end there was a huge family reunion with my whole family and i was left behind, im the only one without a car and its been 5 years since ive seen my grand parents, my aunts and uncles, cousins...and nobody came to pick me up, nobody called me...even my mom and sister went...i told my mom how excited i was to see everyone and how important it was. i cant even tell you how awful i feel realizing no one cares 😞

It happened to me (nobody showed up to my birthday) on my 10th birthday. I waited outside for hours and no one showed up i decorated and was so excited at the end i spent my birthday alone with my mom and cousin.
I had forgotten to come here to talk about the songs, in pity party the main theme is the loneliness that consumes cry baby, her family is not with her and her friends are not really worthy of carrying that title, at the beginning of pity party we see how cry baby takes her birthday invitations to her so-called friends, including jhonny, who as I said in the soap and training wheels video, he decided to walk away from cry baby because he did not know how to take a relationship further, so that no one attends cry baby's party and she unleashes her great and immense anger at her party, destroying everything she ever built to celebrate her birthday,

I never had people show till I was in High school and it was only one person my best friend and he still sticks by me and me stick by him. With how quiet I was and always read a book no one tried to know me only he did and he learned we had a lot in common and he hated people assumed they didn't like me without getting to know me.

Yep I can relate to this. Lucky me my birthday was always on or near Spring Break so very few of my friends were able to come to my birthday parties because their families always went away on vacation somewhere, so that was more on the parents than my friends. It always made me mad and yes I did blame my parents asking why they had me at the "wrong time"
