Order by and distinct will work together if you add order by column name with select.
Hello Sumit, just into an hour of this course and loving it so far. A follow up question- For the part where you showed how when middle name is not given while inserting it sets a null value to it but how does the compiler know that it is null for middle name and not for other string values such as firstname or last name?

hi sir , for enrollment date by using only timestamp is throwing error , it needs to be updated to 'enrollment_date TIMESTAMP DEFAULT current_timestamp NOT null '.

Hi Its much summarized video on SQL thanks for this, my question on Having and where clause, we can use where instead of having at any condition and one more thing as you said we should filer our data before filtering it then what will be the use of having as we can do filtering with where and before group by? If where clause is there in SQL then why we need having
you have given example:
select location, count(*) as total from students where years_of_exp > 10 group by location having total > 1
we can do like below as well
select location, count(*) as total from students where years_of_exp > 10 and total> 1 group by location
Please post an answer will wait for it.
Aggregate function can not use where condition that's why we need having clause. If you try the second one in sql with where clause it will give you error.
These are the differences
1. Having will work on the aggregated result.
2. Where will work on the table before aggregation
The case which you mentioned will give same results. But if you want to filter on count(*) column then you need to use having as where will not work on aggregated result
select location, count(*) as total from students where count(*)> 10 and total> 1 group by location - this is wrong
select location, count(*) as total from students group by location having count(*) > 10 - this is correct
