Join Anna and Alf in this video as they visit BETWS Y COED in SNOWDONIA in NORTH WALES UK.
BETWS Y COED has been voted ' THE BEST TOURIST DESTINATION IN THE UK 2023 ' by GO OUTDOORS and here Anna and Alf walk around while Anna teaches about the history of BETWS Y COED and also some WELSH LANGUAGE .
BETWS Y COED, situated in beautiful SNOWDONIA translates as ' PRAYER HOUSE IN THE WOODS ' and was where a CELTIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY founded a MONASTERY IN THE LATE 6TH CENTURY and where a former owner of TY MAWR WYBRNANT near BETWS Y COED called WILLIAM MORGAN was the first to translate THE COMPLETE BIBLE INTO THE WELSH LANGUAGE.
Today people come from all over the world to see this village that has been spoken of as ' LITTLE SWITZERLAND ' and where EDWARD 1 of ENGLAND during his CONQUEST OF WALES came with 1000 woodcutters to cut down trees and so opening up BETWS Y COED for the first time for all to see.

I can see why this is such a popular destination to vacation and enjoy nature. The landscape is beautiful and tranquil, the buildings are wonderful to learn about and explore. I like your history of the village being discovered and people being able to enjoy for many years to come. The fairytale aspect is so beautiful. "Little Switzerland" is a nice description.

Aww Abie thank you so very much, we are both almost all well now after eye infections and inflammation that went into our skin causing spots and into the nose too, such a nighmare that the doctors think we got from bug bites but after lots of antibiotics and cream and eye drops it is slowly improving and go back to the hospital in 2 weeks for a check up. It's still sore to watch screens too much so I will catch you when I can. And that's where we have been ! Hope you are well , thanks so much for coming to check on us. God bless you too :) ❤

Wow this brings back wonderful memories in the 70's I turned 21 and was in Betws-y-Coed on holiday where I fell in love with 2 lights which I still have to this day.

A very interesting video from a wonderful area where even as an male Styrian, Austrian I can understand why this place has been voted UK's top holiday destination and what i find very nice even a railway line running through it!
Is this River Afon the same river as the River Avon that runs through Bristol (England)?
Side note that I often noticed in your video (of course as an Austrian who buys in one called of it called ´EuroSpar´ in Styria), there is even a SPAR market there, haha.

Hi Christoph I'm so glad you enjoyed this and what I was meaning here is that the Welsh word for river is afon and so the River Conwy in Welsh is the Afon Conwy and the River Llugwy in Welsh is the Afon Llugwy and not the River Avon in England 🙂👍 I thought you might like that train station as I remember your train set in your hobby room that you showed us one time 😃 and I love that you have a Spar there that you go to ! Yes, the station is very nice and you can even see two different gauges of garden railways running next to the main line, very nice and extremely interesting -> it's just a shame that we all live in a never-ending "global dimming" (worldwide weather!)! 🙄🌫

Yes, when I was younger I was actually quite good at writing, reading and speaking English in school...today I'm a little older (maybe lazier too, haha?) and I often use Google Translate again and again, bad bad Christoph, hahaha... 😂
I love to ride our ´Übelbacherbahn´ in our Übelbach valley because it is electrically powered by a pantograph! 🚃 How about you, do you have more diesel and steam locomotives for tourists or are there also electrically powered trains?

I was with my husband in his homeland, in Georgia, we went to Svaneti, Ushguli, visited the Temple of Lamaria, were in the mountains and on volcanoes. Hi, yes it's stunning, and so popular with tourists all year round. We have always lived quite close to it so we haven't used it to holiday, mainly just for day trips and the odd day or two camping nearby but yes it is like a fairytale and I agree it would be great to have seen it in the 1800s 😃Thanks so much for watching 💞

The thing is, Alf has had the infection a couple more times too, we can't seem to get rid of it and think it may all have come from insect bites we had camping 😳Slowly getting back to CZcams as its still a bite sore to watch screens.
