    I watched this video the day after you released it and your comments about the Momento Zero caught my attention. It took me until early March to finally pull the trigger and order one, and then it sat in pre-order limbo for two more months. Apparently everybody is buying these and Leonardo is still catching up. My Momento Zero finally arrived today and it is fantastic! So a big THANK YOU DR BROWN!

    You have a fabulous pen collection there, I always fancied a Visconti but the nib problems they had put me off. The Conid is the pen I want now and almost got one when you did the review of it but cancelled the order when the VAT appeared at the end of the order form because I was on my limit and an extra £100 odd quid just spoiled it however when things get better hopefully next year I'll get one. You are my number 1 nerd because your ACE.

      Hi there... Your comment caught my eye when you said your writing goes to the left, from my research its called 'back slant'... My writing has improved alot by using fountain pens these last few year but,,, I cannot correct this back slant no matter what I try. Even returning the paper 45 degrees makes no difference. When I get excited writing about something the quality suffers and the back slant is readily seen... I wonder if you've tried to write someway with a right slant??? Have you got any tips you will share. I'm greatly attracted to Spencerian style of writing but as you know it's all right slant... So please, if you have any instructions they would be greatly appreciated.
      Apologies for the long reply but we are writers.

      Lez Cartwright Hi Lez, first of all lovely to meet another person whose handwriting slants to the left ... I've never tried to "correct" this so I may not be able to help you, but I guess because in school I got interested in the different font styles and tried to copy them by doing drills for hours on end, over time I have much more "flexibility " in terms of being able to change the style of lettering ... But without thinking or hesitation, when I write it is left slanted ... I have the same issue when it comes to writing fast, but I've seen that printing or all capitals helps me more for legibility. I've never tried to correct my handwriting but any change in letter forms has only come through repeatedly practicing... Especially writing in capitals, that's been very helpful for me to increase control and develop the muscle memory needed.... I try and do at least half an hour to an hour each day of drills.. It's practice and relaxing as well ... Sort of getting into the zone ... I'm trying Spencerian since at least a year and a half, I used guidelines that some calligraphers have generously provided online to get the letter forms and inclination set and it's just been daily drills for me to get the muscle memory developed ... I'm sorry I couldn't be of much help or provide a clear solution for you .. 🙏

    • @lez7767
      @lez7767 Před 5 lety +1

      @@Shub99 Thankyou for getting back to me. Drills yes I should do these more. I have a great interest in calligraphy but always give up because of people or things encroaching on my time, it's frustrating. I'm going to have a go at printing in capital and see how it goes. I've looked on the IAMPETH site,, the biography videos are very interesting but I think trying to be like them would be too formal. Anyway, to continue to improve is a motivation for 2019 and a determination to write more proper letters to folks I know, maybe I will be able to make up a nice style of backslant writing, there are no exemplars though.
      Again thanks for getting back to me it's appreciated.

What intrigued me was that they seem expensive given that they are Chinese, given that we are so used to, lets be honest, excellent pens from the likes of Jinhao, Baoer, Wing Sung etc. at what can only be described as give-away prices. Have you had any experience of this company? Are there pens any good? And, more to the point, are they worth the extra cost over the likes of Baoer etc? Love your reviews by the way.

    Can any pf you experienced fountain pen enthusiasts tell me what pen offers a unique, and preferably super smooth, writing experience at around $100? I bought a Fine Kaweco Liliput and I have to be honest I don't see why I would use it over a gel or rollerball pen. What pen can give me a unique experience?

      How about an Opus 88 Koloro Demonstrator? You don't see many demonstrators in gel or rollerball pens.

      @@rockyliamscott01 I appreciate you taking the time to reply, but I meant the writing experience itself. Like a smoothness that other pens cannot replicate, which is hard considering how smooth gel pens can get. I thought about raising my budget and going for a pilot 912 or 742/743 since other pens simply cannot flex as a fountain pen does.

      I got a Taccia Spectrum with a bold nib and it's incredibly smooth. Their nibs are steel and made by Sailor. The body is beautiful too, and comfortable. A real sleeper of a pen. They retail for about $120 USD, so just a bit over your budget.

    It would be great if, in the description, you could post the names of the pens that you covered. I know that for those of you who own a lot of fountain pens that a lot of these names and model numbers are easy to remember, but for those of us who don’t own all of these, it would be helpful.

      Pretty sure none of the pens were Mont Blanc. But he was using their ink in the 2nd to last pen he wrote with.
