Imagine having your fountain pen custom made by an old pen maker in Japan, that's some serious swag. A lot of high quality pens are "hand made" to a degree but this man actually made the pen from raw materials. That's metal
Almost as classy as my Bic Clic Stic.
No cheesy music, no talking, just the sound of work. Beautiful.
Shoegum 👍
👍
Sshhh..you're keyboard is disturbing me.
Yes

I liked the way his rotary machine and all his tools looked well oiled, cleaned, and sharpened. I have a lot of respect for someone who takes good care of his tools.
This. You can understand a lot about a man by simply looking at his tools.
Owning a pen like this would be a dream come true. The craftsmanship and passion is obvious.
Being fortunate to own a pen made by this master would be a great honor.
As a new pen maker myself, seeing this done by a master in traditional techniques, is pure inspiration and admiration.
Cool. Do you have a site where you sell them?
@@sanjayshetty5640 are you on Facebook?
No crap background music, no chit chat, just the noise of craftsmen at work, the sound of the lathe and the squeak of the thread. Lovely and mesmerising.
AhhMishMoneypenny ASMR for men
I loved it very much
+1
Wait, did you copy this comment?
@@biscuitburger725 he totally did. Just changed the wording.
The way he cuts the threads is stunning
@BMO nice
Yesterday I watched a video of how a company makes their fountain pens, fairly high tech and a lot of machinery. Mostly automated - it was impressive. Tonight I was recommended this video and it's art. Amazing and captivating work.
As a fountain pen aficionado, I have to say it was joy to watch a master at his best create a pen which will last until its passed down to ones grandson.
I love watching craftsman putting their heart and soul into things they make. Makes it that much special when they make one just for you.
Really good to see some craftsmen around making things like this, instead of machines.
He DIDN'T make one just for me. Sadly....
As a craftsman that just had to let go a job precision honing 40-foot cylinders, this really hit me in the feels.
Some of us even hold our heartbeat, when we need that next level of focus.
;)
The way he looked at the pen after it was assembled fully, like it was a little child, is just priceless.
I feel the fascination of a kid watching his dad work with tools. I'm in my 50s.
Couldn't agree more, cmonkey :D
Pure Art and a true Master of his craft. Absolutely fascinating to watch. TFS! I love to see someone create with their hands and you can clearly see the passion he infuses into his creations.
Man, I love to watch skilled artisans at work.
Possibly the best video on CZcams, thank you so much for sharing! 🙏 ❤️
i clicked on this by mistake but watched whole video.amezing.

@Alonso Jaden Glad I could help :D
So much detail and work! Respect!
Don't know why i'm here.. but I stayed and I was mesmerized
Thanks for sharing this video. It's a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work.
I can certainly appreciate someone who creates something of beauty such as this.
thank you very much for this important show case.
What a wonderful video - a true craftsman who loves his work and who has pride in what he produces. Totally mesmerizing. I hope he has an apprentice who will carry on the tradition when Mr. Tanaka retires. Thanks for posting!
Many thanks. This let me see how they are hand made.
Absolutely a beautiful work of art. Wish I had a couple of them!
Spectacular! Thank you for this video!
If you purchase one of those pens, just know that this man made that pen just for you.
I would pay 10 times the price just to show my respect and appreciation for this art of craft.
If you purchase one of these pens just know that a water buffalo was killed just for you.
@@bharatibhatia6757 that's even better
@@zoomer6155 I don't think it's better. I think the life on that animal is worth more than to be manufactured into a pen element
@@rafal777jojoboy5 to bad for you.
thank you for sharing this video. really nice video.
To write with a gorgeous fountain pen, hand made, just for yourself ... a dream!
For some reason this is incredibly soothing and cathartic. I could happily watch hours of this.

It is such a pleasure to watch a skilled craftsman at work. You must be ever mindful that his actions are guided by understandings of the materials and tools that not apparent to the eye.

three things can be looked at forever when water flows, when fire burns and when others work :)
Absolutely fantastic , words cannot express how amazing this gentleman’s talent’s are . I would love one of his Fountain Pen’s.
A true craftsman at work, very interesting.
Thanks for sharing.
Amazing. He had my undivided attention once I saw him freehand the threads. Now THAT'S skill!
Smell of the new pen and filling ink, new books, school uniform at first day of our class are golden memories. 👬👭👫💕. Thanks sir.
OK I had no school uniform, because the schools here normally have none. But I have the same golden memories,
SO, a big thanks from me, too.
Mezmorizing, beautiful to watch.
Beautiful process, thanks for sharing
13:37 holding your breath prevents your hands from shaking. Learned it at the caligraphy class back in Afghanistan.
I never thought that this would be so fascinating you are a true master amazing
I must have watched this video 30x and keep coming back - amazing
I always feel happy yet sad while watching this video. Happy because I’m watching someone do what they love and what they are good at, but sad because his probably passed away :( makes me feel sad.
A true master of his craft. And all is done without the help of a measuring device!
This is indeed a Master Craftsman.
I love seeing a skilled craftsman at work.
Simply beautiful
Start to finish i am awed
I MUST watch again
"A man who has mastered an art, reveals it in his every action." --Samurai maxim
Watched without a blink. Never did it for any other video.
I have to comment volumes on this video. The document has the magic of craftsmanship and the age of wisdom in it. This is the future and the past at the same time. It's about skill, love, commitment and joy. He gained precision and exactness as a form of peace. This is about contemplation. How can this be more religious and spiritual when his aura is all around his workplace, the way he operates his machines and how happy he feels doing it.
THIS, only this, is the grail that CZcams achieved. It's a great step for man kind in every sense. We found ourselves again through our guilds, talents and technology. It's Japan in the purest form. Even when he speaks in his language I feel a sense of accomplishment. We need more videos of this caliber. It helps us believe in ourselves once more.
If you think this is cool look up how craftsman make copper pagoda roofing... insane! All hand formed copper sheets... looks like scales on a reptile
Every now and then i watch this just for relaxation.
Thank you CZcams for putting something random in my feed. I love it!
An art form that must not be allowed to disappear.
i hear the plastic is folded a thousand times
@Usty It not the younger generation. It is the socialist system of education. It managed to sever the tie between wise and young and waste years with useless paperwork. Talk to craftsmen and count the times they tell you how lucky they are to be apprentices of some old master, because school taught them absolutely nothing.
And it is only going to get worse and worse. And there is nothing you can do about it. Because it is politics.
Thousands of these craftsmanships or as you say "art forms" have died and will continue to die and there is nothing wrong. It's a part of evolution from type 0 to type 1 civilization.
Did you financially support that artisan?
My respects have you ,with little parts a high quality product build and many free hand work in this time i know many turner worker can't this do.Nice that you have it us show.
Fascinating to watch this craftsman at work. That's a lovely pencil.
An hour ago i was just trying to learn how to write with a fountain pen. Now I'm off to Japan to be a master of fountain pen crafting.
I can spend hours watching this videos. The beautiful of simplicity.
Thats amazing, Ive never seen a thread being made like that
Nice isn't it?
@@MorrisonScotch I just don't understand how he did it without the thread wandering in the wrong direction, when you can SEE the tool he's holding wobbling around.
Amazing craftsmanship, the magic of skilful hands ....!!!
I can only say he loves his job and creates this beautiful handcrafted magical products.
Pens like this created by a master are an unattainable dream for me. I am happy with my $8.00 (eight) JIn Hao pens that I take great pleasure in writing with.
Beautiful work, a true craftsman, incredible artist who's work will testify to his abilities for decades...maybe centuries.
This is great craftsmanship ! Future generations will be robbed of these human creations !
The process is an type of art already, not only the pen. What a respectful master.
Amazing
Wow, a pen made with love.
And super glue 🧐
Bow down to his skill and dedication. 🙇♂️
I can watch it over and over for hours!
it's like an ASMR vid before ASMR was a thing
He works on the machine or he himself is a machine ?
He is amazing at his work..
Simply beautiful. I have the highest respect for people like this old man they really make a difference. God bless him and thanks for sharing!
Very cool. I've been fascinated with fountain pens since the 4th grade, lo these many many moons ago. It's cool watching one built.
Must be expensive for the amount of master craftsmanship that goes into the pen
AMAZING!! Pure talent!! No words needed!
True art..... I fell good to see that we still have people doing this kind of work nowadays.....
Just wonderful to see a true artisan working his craft. I have no need at all for a fountain pen, but certainly appreciate the skill and artistry that goes into a handmade pen!
