      Hi Mikey! Congratulations! I have my AD end of Nov, so pleased. Was wondering, since the online app changed has the AD changed? My last AD consisted of the height and reach, video intro, group Apprentice style task, role play and final intv. Is it still the same? Thank you.

      Hi, no you are not the only one, they are an absolute nightmare. Was actually going to do an update on BA. It seems as though you have to pester the backcheck people in order for them to do stuff. Theyve told me its all completed and then change their minds. My friend who was on the same AD has her start date, so hopefully im soon and you too! Best of luck to you too and maybe we'll be on a flight together!

      Congratulations on getting invited to an AD! As said in previous comments I would recommend that you have some examples of customer service ready, even if they are made up, infact its crucial! They asked me to give an example of a time I had exceed a customers expectations, Why I want to work for BA and what sets them apart from other airlines, how would i deal with an unexpected situation. And that was it really. Make sure your answers end positively. After that it was just general chit chat. Even tho its 1:1 there were two interviewees. Although i was nervous, they made you feel quite at ease x

As long as your piercings and tattoos are not noticeable whilst wearing the uniform you are fine. Yes the only thing they asked me about BA is why I wanted to work for them and what sets them apart from any other airline. It's good to do your research though. Hi, thanks for the amazing video. I'm staying at the Sheraton Heathrow myself this coming 21st and I'll have the AD the next morning. I was wondering, is being too talkative a plus or a flaw for the recruiters. I mean I am extremely talkative and loquascious, does that affect negatively the decision of the recruitment team or it's better to keep myself together and be professional Cabin Crew figure all along?

    • @MrFaizan28
      @MrFaizan28 Před 7 lety

      I havent had my AD yet but you would think that you would need to find the right balance between talking alot and not much at all. Just be open and friendly and hopefully the assessors will pick up on that.

  • @almaa21
    @almaa21 Před 8 lety

    Hey! It's me again :) I'm really thankful for all the advices you gave me, I think it made a feel a bit more prepared. Well, to make the story short, I was successful at the assessment and I'm waiting to be contacted by the agency to start the referencing process! ...But I noticed it takes quite a while to get through the Stage 1... I really hope you get done with it in no time - please keep me posted once you get your start date! Just wanted to ask you, did you only had to provide references (for work, or whatever else you did in past 5 years, and criminal records check), or you also had to send some school certificates, diplomas, etc.? I'm just wondering because most of my paperwork is not in English and I will need to get it translated if it is needed... One more thing - are they satisfied with references being let's say your friends in some instances - if for example you weren't working/studying but need someone to prove you were doing something else? Thanks for help, I just don't know what to expect and I'm having a hard time finding out what I did during some periods in past 5 years...

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 8 lety

      Hi, thats fantastic to hear you were successful! Congrats! Yeh my references were only for my past 5 years which was education and work. Thats all theyve asked for so far. I havent had to send anything as they get in contact with the people you provide. Yeh you can use friends as references, as long as you have known them for the time they ask and they arent related! Hope all goes to plan for you

      Thank you! :) I know you're probably really busy and get a lot of comments on here looking for advice, but I'm quite worried about the group activity as I think that was my downfall in my last AD. Do you have any tips for it, or what do you think you did well during it? X

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 7 lety +2

      The group activity can be quite stressful as you want to stand out and can feel it is a little hard to when you are in a group. My advice to you would be make sure you get your points across but do not come across as bossy. Agree with points your peers make if valid or say it is a good idea, however give advice on how you could alter it. Also before the activity starts nominate yourself to be a time keeper (ACTUALLY DO IT) or open it up to the group. Most importantly be yourself and do not hold back! Good luck x

    Hi there ! I'll have my assessment day coming next wednesday and I am really excited ! You video is really helpful. I was wondering if you had to bring pictures, like a full length one or passeport size pictures ? Because I think that the "What to bring" manual isn't that clear. As I'm not from the UK, I don't have most of what it is required. Could you please tell me which documents are the most important to bring ? I also went to the Emirates open day a couple of months ago now and I didn't pass it through at the group discussions because I wasn't sure of myself and what the recruiter wanted to see. Is the BA assessment similar to the Emirates one for the group discussion ? Thank you so much for you help !!

Just bring your passport, something that shows where you live ( phone bill etc) and the other important documents like that. Yeh it is similar, just be yourself, make sure you share ideas and thoughts and also agree or find positive ways to use your team mates ideas. Its also a good idea to be a time keeper, thats what I did. Good luck!

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 8 lety +1

      In my previous comments there should be an in depth discussion about the role play. But to summarise. In a room with one assessor, given a laminated piece of paper with a passage. You must memorise key points to later deal with a scenario and show the assessor you can deal with an angry customer. They also want you to read it so they can see how you speak and pronounce words. Hope this helps

    Hi :)
    I am going for my AD in a few days and I'm very very anxious. Your video was very helpful. I have two questions: I do have 2 tattoos that I am going to remove if I get the job. During the AD, are we asked to show our tattoos or not? My other concern is that I am 40 years old and I know that some people might think that I am too old for the job. Do you work with more mature colleagues? I don't look 40 and I'm full of energy but people can be very hard on the age issue sometimes. Thank you in advance for your attention.

Yes you need to wear business attire/smart clothes until you wear your uniform :) They security interview during referencing stage or when you start? Also keep phoning the company who are doing your referencing, as it took me 5 months. Some people were longer!

      I'm glad you finally started and that you like it! :) Is it very demanding? Do you have to do a lot of studying on your own after the classes (at night)? I hope you have some time to sleep :) I meant the security interview at the stage 2 (at the time when also medical is etc...)... Thanks & best of luck!

      First of all good luck. I worked in customer service before the interview so i used that experience to help me. The most important thing is to act natural and be yourself. The assessor kept firing scenarios at which i replied quickly back to. Just make sure you take your time, even repeat what they say to give you time to think of a reply...and breathe! Good luck x

    Thank you very much for all the tips! Just one question, what kind of issue you had to solve during the group exercise? Did you have to present it to the assessors at the end? And did you have to keep a track of time yourselves or would they notify you how much time you have left for the exercise?

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 8 lety +1

      Hi. The flight was delayed for 2 hours due to snow and everything on board had ran out. We had 20 mins to workout with our given budget what was best to buy. Assessors were in the room watching our every move. Yes it's important to keep an eye on the time and make sure you emphasis that in the task.

    • @almaa21
      @almaa21 Před 8 lety

      Thanks for your quick reply! Were you allowed to use any tools (calculator (on the phone?) - because you had to budget, pen, paper)? Did you also had to present your results at the end? Did you choose one person to do in the name of the whole group?

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 8 lety

      No its not professional to have your phone etc They gave us paper and a pencil each. You didn't have to come to a result but it was good if you did because you felt like the discussion wasn't a waste of time. You don't need a group name :)

    • @almaa21
      @almaa21 Před 8 lety

      Sorry I must have expressed myself in a strange way, I wanted to say, did you within a group decide who will present to the assessors the results or did you all speak about results at the end? Do you think it would be weird if I would bring a small calculator? I'm just worried it might be a challenge to budget for many items, passengers especially if it involves a lot of numbers, costs etc... How did you go about that? Thanks!!

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 8 lety

      You do not present to them, they are in the room and watch you and take notes. No it wouldn't be weird, however you really don't need one. Im not the strongest at maths but the budget and cost for the items in bulk was really easy to work out. The prices are given for bulk items and you know how many passengers there are. The main thing is to make sure your passengers are food, watered and can use the toilet. After that its just additional stuff :)

    This may be a silly question haha, but would you suggest I wear subtle red lipstick to the assessment day? or would this be seen as a bit much for the interview?
    also, what was your role play scenario? this is something I'm mostly dreading about the AD!
    Do you begin your training once there is an offer of employment or once all references and medical checks have been completed?
    Thank you!
    Elle x

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 8 lety +1

      Hey there, no you could wear a red lipstick, they say to us as long as it compliments the uniform.
      Yes once that is all completed and your 15 hours of coursework and uniform fitting then training commences, which lasts for 4 weeks
      hope this helps

Your then given a scenario and you have to deal with it. Then you have a group exercise" so actually you have to do two exercises ? one alone and another one with your group ? also when they give you the paper with the exercise that you have to do with your group they have the options on the paper ? or you have to create everything by yourself and your group ? Also when you acting i mean doing the role you do just with the person and the members or your group or in front of all the candidates ? sorry for so many questions and for my bad english Im latina hahaha , but thank you so much ! i saw your video like 100 times hahaha thank you again , no everyone do like you do , helping another people even after when they get the job !

      Hi, I briefly mentioned in the video that you had to read off the card so they can hear how you speak. Before that the assessor will leave the room and give you 2 minutes to memorise the most important information on the card, things like if a flight is delayed BA will give compensation etc.
      The other exercise you just have to speak within the group, you dont have to memorise anything. They just want to see how you'll work within a group. They give you a card in the middle where it has the scenario and then you each have one with options for the passengers. Don't worry everything is explained thoroughly by assessors and you can ask questions.
      Its a group of 4 of you and the assessors in the room and that is it :)
      Aww well thats good to hear :) Glad I can help people! Going to post updates about BA soon :)

    Hello! I know you posted this 2 years ago and may not remember but i'm due to go down for an assessment day for the second time. Anyway I think I was unsuccessful last time because of the way I was at the role play stage. Do you think its important to be quite firm? I also couldn't memorise the entire script is this as important? thanks in advance x

    • @9318afm
      @9318afm  Před 6 lety

      Julia cairns I think the role play is maybe less important than the other stages if I'm honest. Even if you don't upgrade the passenger but give her options. So important to do service recovery. I.e if shes a member of the executive club you could give her avios points or gOnly the csm (pursor) is allowed to upgrade but not for a delayed flight. It's important to be assertive but sympathetic. Hope this helps! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Good luck!

      Im still currently waiting on a start date, as they are just running through the last checks for my referencing. They've employed so many people, around 3000 i believe so its a long process. Yes ill be moving to London and hopefully into shared accommodation. In terms of my salary, thats something I wish to not disclose :)

      hey again, sorry for all these questions. i have a few more questions i was hoping you'd be willing to answer if possible. so firstly, was your referencing dealt with Procius or Sterling BackCheck? and secondly, how much information is required of the referee's? in other words, are they required to give a detailed explanation of the individual and why they left the company, or is it just confirmation of dates employed they are required to give. (I ask because I left my most recent employer on bad terms and i am seriously worried the information they give will result in my provisional offer being withdrawn) anyway Thanks MIssmac

      I've got my assessment day on Tuesday! I'm super nervous and I'm heading down to London tomorrow. I'm just a bit concerned about my documents we've been asked to bring a photocopy in colour, do you know whether it would be okay if the original document (such as my National Insurance letter and Bank Statement) are in black and white is it still okay to bring the black and white photocopies? Hi there, I am invited to the Assessment Day in November. I am a Canadian citizen currently residing in Toronto Canada. I would need to apply for a work permit / visa in order to work in UK. What sorts of documents would I need to bring, other than my passport? Do they need to see my University diploma? Also, do I need to obtain work visa prior to Assessment Day in order for them to consider me or I can say to them that I can get it at a later time? Can you leave London right after the AD or would you need to physically wait there? Would they email or phone you to notify you of the result? THANKS!

      Hi there you do not need to take your University diploma and they will get into contact with you to let you know which appropriate documents to take. I do not know if you need to obtain for a visa for that, i dont think so as you are only visiting, but again please double check with them. You can leave after the AD is complete and you will be emailed with the result,

      No you just have to declare them. However they now say as long as you can cover them then it is okay :)
