- This walk takes in the single munro Beinn Dearg from Glen Tilt car park at Old Blair. With a forecast of rain moving in we had expected to get soaked but fortunately we managed to beat the wet stuff. A visit to the bothy "Allt Sheicheachan" is on route and is a good base for tackling the munro.
Thank you 🙏
Love your videos, especially your knowledge of the hills. The walks always seem so effortless...never like thar when I do them...😅.
Hi Fiona, Glad you enjoy taking a look at our outings. The hills certainly get a wee bit harder the older we get but its a great way to keep active. We are working through another round of the munros but no sure if the old knees will make it to the end lol.... we'll see. Cheers, Charlie.
Lovely vid. Going up there next weekend with my youngest son and staying in the bothy( his first night in a bothy).
As ever really helpful with the timings etc although I suspect our times will be slower due to heavy packs.
Cheers Charlie
Tim
Hi Tim, What an experience for your young one. Beinn Dearg is an ideal top for the mountain experience. Hopefully, you'll be ahead of the midges :)... Enjoy your trip. Cheers, Charlie.
A big hill, suitably named. A long walk in - and a long walk out - far too far for my legs these days. Interesting to see, thanks for showing the video.
Hi Ian, It always feels a long track on the return. A good bit of exercise but certainly glad to see the car park. Cheers, Charlie.
Just started watching your channel and my husband and I are really enjoying your walks. Thank you so much for sharing Charlie👍
Hi Helen, Glad you both enjoy tagging along on our trips and many thanks for taking the time to take a look. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Charlie, loved the video as I always do,I know you guys are always on the go early, would have been good if you had chapped the door of the bothy tho,😛😛Ian Mckay Dundee
Hi Ian, Windows were all steamed up but thought better of it.... lol. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Charlie, a fantastic walk thanks for sharing, and brilliant that you did it before the rain came! 😀⛰🏴
Hi Dave, I've been on the top quite a few times and I think this walk is the first time it's been totally clear so nice to get a look around. Beating the rain was an unexpected bonus. Many thanks for taking a look. Cheers, Charlie.
Another great video. Thank you very much. You guys can really cover some distance. Keep up the good work!!!
Hi Paul, Many thanks for watching. It was great to get this summit cairn clear for a change as the previous visit all returned a blank. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Charlie thanks again for a cracking video footage the weather was better than forecast lucky you, when i did Beinn Dearg in 2013 i used the bike which was best to the bothy and the weather was not to good on the day. keep the walks coming.
Hi Phil, It's a hill that I've never been lucky for a clear top but finally we managed it on a less than promising forecast. Happy days... Cheers, Charlie.
Nice one Charlie. Beat the rain indeed, turned oot nice 😎 Looked mental your last trip there. Cheers.
Hi Kev, We were walking in clear blue sky 10 mins after the clip was captured on our last visit once the shower had passed. You can't beat the variation in the Scottish weather..
Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Thanks for sharing another of your superb days Charlie, will take the bike for this 1 👍 Hopefully before the weather turns like your 2015 outing! Atb, Steve.
Hi Steve, It's a good walk for a bit of leg exercise but your right to take the bike and rattle out from the bothy in one time at all. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie
You two were nuts to climb that Munro in they conditions 6/12/15 that well dodgy!!! This is the longest Munro walk to date for me loved the track from the gate to the bothy maybe the lonliest i have ever been in Munro bagging it was great though :) Cheers C&M all the best :)
Hi Peter, I know what you mean as its a it's a fair trek into this munro and I'm sure it's longer retracing your steps. In true Scottish weather conditions, 10 mins after the clip of our 2015 trip we were walking in clear blue sky and crisp snow..... you've just got to love the contrast in conditions. Cheers, Charlie
Another one for my list...i think I would cycle in like you said Charlie. Your last trip there looked a bit wild! cheers Paul
Hi Paul, the bike would certainly shorten things but it turned out to be a good exercise. I keep talking about taking the bike but I've walked the track umpteen times now. Cheers, Charlie.
Slightly better conditions on this walk than your last time!
Hi Guy's, Yes, certainly better than the last visit although we were walking in a snowy landscape and blue sky 10 mins after the clip. You've just got to love the Scottish weather. Cheers, Charlie.
One I’ve still to do Charlie so that was informative thanks 👍
Hi Gordon, Perhaps not the most exciting but a super viewpoint when the tops clear. Cheers, Charlie.
Cracking pace guys.
Hi Alistair, The outward leg always feel that wee bit longer but the trick is not to look up at the track disappearing into the distance :). Cheers, Charlie
@@charliemccartney7055 head down and crank out the K's then🥵
6.5 hours athletic pace !!Top stuff Guys !!
Hi Larry, I like it lol...... you've just got to get a move on when trying to beat the rain. Cheers, Charlie.
@@charliemccartney7055 i had a big slog even with bike pushing a lot .. but down in 40 mins
@@LarryBees 40 mins... I bet your teeth were rattling after the cycle oot. lol
Hi Charlie, not the most inspiring of mountains, was due to do it in six weeks may plump for the Corbett Beinn Mheadonach instead! What do you think. Mark.
Mark, Beinn Mheadonach is a nice walk as you get to savour Glen Tilt and it's a slightly shorter day. It's the sort of decision you could leave for the day and be prepare for either.
Cheers, Charlie.
@@charliemccartney7055 Hi Charlie, cheers, the Beinn a ghlo ridge is my main target however was going to try to get another route in, however due to health issues it sometimes takes 2-3 days to recover from a grueling walk! Thanks again Charlie and looking forward to next video. Mark.
Sorry did you walk so fast since 6:5 hours seems to be quite short for this remote Munro?
Hi Mohammad, Its a good track/path all the way to the Munro so the underfoot conditions don't hinder progress and make for a good time. Most will opt for taking a bike into the bothy just to cut down on the time for covering the track walking. Cheers
@@charliemccartney7055 Hello Charlie thank you for replying my message. Your videos are very encouraging and educational thank you. Yes it's a good track all the to the Munro. It was snowing today from the bothy up to the summit and yet fortunately not too cold so I bagged the Munro in a very snowy condition the same as your 2014 video at some point I panicked wondering I might get lost...
