The microwaves require a 120 volt, individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3 prong grounding type receptacle protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse.
Check your breaker box and wiring.

Can*t believe that this would be even proposed .. all the steam and fats would collect underneath the microwave regardless if even if there was a wall exhaust duct fan installed

This does not answer the most important question!!!!!!! The safe functional distance between the cook top and bottom of the microwave.

This guy assumes every microwave is of the same height. I'm putting in a low profile 10 inches high. So this is useless.

I was told that by code you cannot have anything less than 30 inches above a gas stove. Ic you install a microwave, it still has to be 30 inches above??? Who is tall enough to use it then? I'm confused,....

What about the minimum 16" clearance from stove top to microwave bottom? And can you still fit a large pot and wooden spoon back there?

      I have read 13"Min and 20"Min - 24"Max
I have 17"1/2 and I am wondering if I should trash the ideal after purchasing a over the stove microwave.

Be careful placing a microwave above stove so close to stove.
A family member just had a fire and it melted the microwave.
Fire dept told us to make sure this family member DOESN'T PUT ANOTHER microwave above the stove.

Can someone please tell me if it’s safe to mount an over the range microwave over a gas range? Most show models demonstrate it’s okay but I’ve heard many conflicting reports on this.

Sure can, I've never heard any issues about that. All mine have been gas, most I've seen are gas.
