I had a thought, what if you make a list for an in game playthrough team of unevolved base forms pokemon, best everstone team, rules : if they don't benefit from an eviolite then they can't be used
I've recently used 4 of these pokemon during a playthough - purely because I wanted to try something different. Charizard Marowak Electabuzz Exeggutor Kingler (instead of golduck) Persian (instead of chansey) Movesets were completely different though. Makes me want to start again!
Venasaur, Hitmonlee, Lapras, Jolteon, Kabutops, Aerodactyl This is a full team I only used once in game and it theme was they're all gifted to the player.

Have you ever considered making teams themed after certain npc types? Like hex maniac (only ghost and psychic types), punk (only poison and dark types), or poke maniac (only mons in the monster egg group)?
I have, actually, though I'm pretty sure my movesets were a bit different. It was during my only trip up to Canada, I think it was 2005 or so, and at the time I was experimenting with different team builds. After reaching the postgame, I did switch a few of them out for some of the Johto options--Miltank ended up replacing Chansey (I tried Lickitung for a bit but ended up switching back; the basic idea being big chunky pink Pokemon had some good strengths if used right), Exeggutor by Xatu, Golduck with I think Lanturn...I don't remember much of it other than the Miltank grind, because we were on this ferry crossing over to one of British Columbia's islands and I _really_ should have been abovedeck because there was a pod of whales to see, but instead I stayed in the car leveling up my stupid digital cow.
I used to choose Charizard all the time as my starter in Leafgreen, but I don't like it as much as I used too anymore. Now I'm more of a Blastoise main. And I recently heard some interesting scary theories about Cubone and Marowak. I will share the details about that in Mystic's shorts on Cubone and Marowak.

I had Exeggutor, Electabuzz and Marowak on the same team at one time, so I can say from experience, that these Pokémon kick ass! Exeggutor had Solar Beam, Psychic, Leech Seed and Sleep Powder. Electabuzz had Thunderpunch, Thunder, Brick Break and Strength. Marowak had Bonemerang, Bone Rush, Return and Double-Edge (had the Rock Head ability, so didn't take recoil damage). I also had Flareon on this team (another under-used Pokémon (the least used Eeveelution in Kanto), for obvious reasons). Flareon had Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Dig and Sunny Day. The other Pokémon on this team were Golbat/Crobat, and Blastoise as my starter. Golbat/Crobat had Confuse Ray, Steel Wing, Fly and Poison Fang. Blastoise had Surf, Waterfall, Ice Beam and Rain Dance. The weakest link in this team was definitely Flareon, but the rest of my team was pretty solid imo.
That's an interesting team for FireRed specifically. In LeafGreen, I guess you could swap Electabuzz for Electrode, and Golduck for Slowbro or Dewgong.

I can't say I've used this team before, but I've done many, many playthroughs of FireRed and used most of the team before in one playthrough with Zard, Chansey, Exeggutor, Marowak, and Electabuzz on a nuzlocke (was using each area of the safari zone was a separate encounter in an attempt for type diversity). Ironically enough, the only thing that kept me from having the full team was I had Lapras as my sixth option.
I've played this game so many times that i actually have used all this pokemons more than once, with the exception of exeggutor since i love vileplume as the grass type 😂

Damn.. my first try in Firered, i pick Charizard, Golduck, Electabuzz, Chansey (yes.. you read it right.. i pick this because when i was a kid i tho the more hard to find.. more stronger they are) , Marowak (because i fall in love on boneclub dmg) , but the other 2 is Snorlax and Golbat... I guess 12y.o me saved by this 2 different choice.. Almost making it "emotional dmg" difficulty 😅

You’re not gonna believe this, but my first Red playthrough I had Charizard, Jolteon, Golduck, Exeggute (I couldn’t figure out how to evolve it), Gyarados, Marowack. Was it a balanced team? No. But it established some of my favorite Pokémon for gens to come

Lol for a team you’d never use is crazy I played fire red for the first time like a month ago and Electabuzz, Exeggutor, and Charizard was my MVP the only reason I made it through the final 4 plus my rival 😭😭
Has anyone else NEVER used a full team of 6? I always just use 3 or 4 and find that your team doesn’t level quickly enough to match NPCs as you progress.
For Exeggutor, instead of giving it psychic, I would give it dream eater which is an obtainable TM (if I remember correctly) since it has sleep powder in its move set. And thanks to that, it has a higher damage move as well as an alternative way of regaining HP. So giga drain can be substituted for solar beam - another nuke move that makes use of its incredible sp.atk stat. Sure, it's take 2 turns to attack but if you put your opponent to sleep first, you have nothing to worry about getting hit. The slot for leech seed can stay the same or be switched out for sunny day to pair with its ability chlorophyll since it's quite slow, and to make its solar beam and instant nuke for 5 turns. Since I don't teach Exeggutor psychic, I can give it to Golduck instead of confusion. The last slot for Golduck could be cross chop or dig. Cross chop is an egg move and pretty hard to get but it's really strong and has a high crit chance. Personally, I would go for dig. It's a bit weaker in this gen but it covers one of Golduck's weaknesses which is electric type. Golduck is relatively fast so it might out speed some electric type, go underground to avoid their electric move and hit back for super effective damage.
So... we're supposed to play with only Charmander until we can beat Giovanni in the Celadon game corner? Chansey and Exeggutor are locked behind Safari Zone and you need the Pokeflute to go down to Fuschia, Cubone needs the Sylph Scope, Electabuzz needs Surf to get to the power plant and Psyduck needs either Surf or the Super Rod. You're basically gonna be with just a single pokemon for the first four gyms if you tried using this team exclusively, no?
I'm currently playing Yellow and my team is not that different from this (gyarados, dugtrio and primeape instead of golduck, marowak and electabuzz). The thing is, chansey was great in this gen. She wasn't only a great tank but also had 105 sp. Attack. So Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Soft-Boiled and Thunder Wave make her such a great pokemon to use. She could also use Toxic but I've given it to my Exeggutor (plus Psychic, Leech Seed and Mega Drain).
After watching this, I want to try it. But my only problem with it is outside of trades, you don’t get any Pokémon outside of charmander until you get the silph scope for Cubone. I love the challenge but I find it frustrating to use other Pokémon at the beginning that I won’t keep at the end.
I've used Marowak on a Kanto team before on Let's Go Pikachu but I can't remember if I used one on FireRed or LeafGreen I have used Charizard a few different times before.
With the game boy port on switch online I'm wondering if they'll port FRLG & R/S/E Bc that would likely get them a LOT more people getting the expansion pack
You have never used Electabuzz cause you can find Pikachu in viridian forest, you have never used marowak because you can find nidoran after cerulean and you can easily find moon stone to fully evolve it. You have never used golduck because you get a magikarp after cerulean and you evolve it into gyarados alsoyou can get lapras in saffron's sliph co and you never use chansey because it is a pain to catch it rarely appears in the Safari zone and its stats are awful. Charizard and Exeggutor are vital members in my fire red team.
I made a rerun a month ago but looking back I didn't like it. This is the team I have before beating koga; Blastoise, Dodrio, Exeggutor, Jolteon and Marowak, Raticate is just there for HMs

Chansey useless? Oh, c'mon! Not only it's a good tank/safe switch, you can use Softboiled outside battle to heal your party.

The Kanto starters will forever be the best starters in Pokémon.
Deaign wise, I actually agree. In terms of being able to get stuff done, I think a few are slightly better.

I have used 3 of the 6 in a play through. Buzz, golduck, and zard. Never would I use the others

Replace chansey with tarous because chansey has limited movesets. Tauros is a beast.
Last playthrough i ran with charizard, cloyster, muk, tauros, electabuzz, mr. Mime. Subbed out Muk for chansey/blissey for the upgraded elite 4.

I'm currently playing Yellow and my team is not that different from this (gyarados, dugtrio and primeape instead of golduck, marowak and electabuzz). The thing is, chansey was great in this gen. She wasn't only a great tank but also had 105 sp. Attack. So Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Soft-Boiled and Thunder Wave make her such a great pokemon to use. She could also use Toxic but I've given it to my Exeggutor (plus Psychic, Leech Seed and Mega Drain).
After watching this, I want to try it. But my only problem with it is outside of trades, you don’t get any Pokémon outside of charmander until you get the silph scope for Cubone. I love the challenge but I find it frustrating to use other Pokémon at the beginning that I won’t keep at the end.

A Chansey/Blissey w counter and soft boiled can take out pretty much every non ghost trainer in the game
My original FR team was actually very close to this. Replace Chansey with Tauros and Golduck with vaporeon
I've used Marowak on a Kanto team before on Let's Go Pikachu but I can't remember if I used one on FireRed or LeafGreen
I have used Charizard a few different times before.

The perfect team for me was
Charizard, Raichu, Articuno, Dragonite, Snorlax, and Lapras
I have actually used this exact team against the elite 4 for kicks and giggles before 😂 maybe not the exact same move set but def the same mons
I've used all of these aside chancy, and I've thought about it.. shrug lol
With the game boy port on switch online I'm wondering if they'll port FRLG & R/S/E
Bc that would likely get them a LOT more people getting the expansion pack

You have never used Electabuzz cause you can find Pikachu in viridian forest, you have never used marowak because you can find nidoran after cerulean and you can easily find moon stone to fully evolve it. You have never used golduck because you get a magikarp after cerulean and you evolve it into gyarados alsoyou can get lapras in saffron's sliph co and you never use chansey because it is a pain to catch it rarely appears in the Safari zone and its stats are awful. Charizard and Exeggutor are vital members in my fire red team.
I made a rerun a month ago but looking back I didn't like it. This is the team I have before beating koga; Blastoise, Dodrio, Exeggutor, Jolteon and Marowak, Raticate is just there for HMs
