I used dewgong because my favorite kinds of Pokémon are ones that are simplistic in design. It’s better than the stats would make it seem. It was pretty helpful in my FireRed team
Edit: I originally used it because I have used Lapras so many times but I was happy with the way it turned out

Dewgong was in my original team back in the day. It was great little Pokémon. Also used it again when gold and silver got rereleased on the DS. The fact it has access to ice beam by level up makes it a good (not great😂) choice for an in game playthrough

Same except I used it recently in Pokemon Yellow on the DS. Got it through that trade on Cinnabar Island. It definitely helped in the late game and was on my Hall of Fame team though I wasn't super attached to it. Got it moved up to my Current Pokemon Home.

Used Venomoth in my first playthrough of Let's Go Eevee. You can get it early (north of Cerulean I think) and it was pretty good. That Bug Buzz and Psychic combo was deadly and it was my Pseudo-Psychic type.
Dewgong was in my Hall of Fame for Yellow on the DS through an in-game trade. It helps clean up the late game and helps in the league

Kadabra let's you solo the entire Gen II games with relative ease.
Its absurd speed should almost always let it hit first and with the elemental punches, it hits basically everything for super effective damage.

What I find funny is that I've used a lot of these mons. Namely the Poison-types, Venomoth was even my first Shiny.
And Weezing is damn near excellent for Mono-Poison runs with the coverage and Levitate.
Can't say I've ever used a Dewgong myself, precisely because it is such a late-game mon... that you need to surf for, at a point where I have a mon I prefer way more.

I have a lot of Pokémon from Kanto I want to use but my number 1, is farfetch’d, yes I’m serious. I’ve always liked having a small Pokémon throughout the whole game alongside a bunch of big and powerful Pokemon that would usually be on my team, like Ash’s pikachu, and farfetch’d has always seemed like the perfect fit for me in terms of Kanto, plus it’s a Pokémon that I generally really like and think it’s a funny Pokémon, I’ve used sirfetch’d and evolved it from Galarian farfetch’d, but I’ve never gotten around to using Kantonian farfetch’d yet.
Honorable mentions include Dodrio, Persian, scyther, Kabutops, dragonite (I’ve used dragonite in online battles but not for a playthrough) sandslash, pidgeot, arbok, arcanine, dewgong, aerodactyl and rhydon

A few responses to your list:
    10) Then it got Quiver Dance, which makes everything better.
    9) Same for me, about other options overshadowing it. Still, there’s always the possibility of a Hoenn Mono-Grass run (probably just in Emerald, where Roselia isn’t available).
    8) Granted, it’s not as great without the Eviolite, but I acknowledge your willingness to try. Personally, I always wanted to use Rocky in Yellow, since he DOES evolve.
    7) This is one I HAVE used before, even before its final evolution came out. But then I tested Jolteon, who quickly stole the spot for Best Kantonian Electric-Type. Bummer. (Naturally, I’ve used the final form several times, particularly in Sinnoh and Unova.)
    6) Unevolved or not, it’s a beast. I only used it once, before preferring Hypno and later Jynx (access to sleep infliction).
    5) Yeah, I always stuck to Charizard or Arcanine in Kanto. But both this and Ninetails deserve a fair shot. And yes, D/P infamy.
    4) I always wanted to use one ever since I too saw Chuggaconroy’s Crystal run. I doubt I’ll ever catch a shiny, but this thing is a solid tank, and it has better coverage than you might expect.
    3) I should give this one a chance. Even though I tend to use either Lapras or Jynx as my Ice-Type, most of the time. After all, this thing can take hits.
    2) I only use it for breeding. And nothing else.
    1) I recently started to use this one in G/S/C. Not as a team member, but as a catcher. Especially for the Legendary Beasts. Hypnosis + Mean Look + Night Shade works well. IF you can pull it off. Save frequently, though, just in case.

Pokémon I’ve never used in Gen 1 are Ninetails - because the first version of the Kanto games I got was Red and only to find out Arcanine is stronger. I like the Psychic and Ghost coverage it has, but it’s nothing too special. It’s funny now, because I now use Alolan Ninetails in teams because of how much better it is in a competitive aspect. Scyther - I really wanted use this one when I got it as a kid, and now I look back realizing that it has no stab moves. Onix - because I like Golem and Rhydon better in this gen, never really felt the need for it. Lapras - because it is at level 15 when you get it from Silph Co and you’re more than halfway through the game, plus my starter that generation is Squirtle. Porygon - because it is such a grind to get at the Rocket Game Corner. Flareon - in few of my gen 1 playthroughs, I have used Vaporeon and Jolteon which are the better Eeveelutions of that gen, and Flareon is just not good. These two I can say for sure in the same spot which are Kabutops and Omastar - simply for the reasons of having Blastoise in that point the game, I think Golem and Rhydon are better Rock types, and the only fossil I use is Aerodactyl which has been used to wipe the Elite Four with. I’m also going to say Magneton since I have used Raichu, Electabuzz, and Jolteon before and which I like better. And I can say the last Pokémon I have never used in a playthrough of the original games is Victreebel - if any Pokémon I have picked for a playthrough to be my Grass type, it’s either Bulbasaur if I choose to play with Venusaur at the end, plus the very first time I beat the original games, I have used Vileplume on a team. I didn’t really want a Victreebel due to me owning Red version and I can catch one in Yellow, which I used on it too. It’s funny since Vileplume was also the Pokémon I had used to beat SoulSilver, it was something I had on teams back then, but now my favorite Grass/Poison to use is Roserade.

both Magz the Magneton and Kronk the Machoke survived all the way to Steven and Sunny the Rapidash was there because i wanted to use one and i chose Turtwig
all 3 did work in their respective playthroughs and im not sure if i will get the two middle stages evolved in future games since Eviolite is pretty busted

Funnily enough, I used a Vileplume, Kadabra, and Magneton in Ruby (with another Magneton in Emerald and a Venomoth in Leafgreen).

Magnaton and hypno are really slept on hypno in the original three games great defense and special and speed honestly I think it’s better than the abra line because of trade machanics. and magnaton in let’s go is a beast with that steel typing thunderbolt and flash cannon hits like a truck.

I never used Gaspar the Haunter because it had a hardy nature. If I was gonna use Haunter I’d catch one until it had a Modest nature. Plus, in Gen 4 there’s that 1 room in the Old Gateau that had 1% chance of wild Gengar lol

I actually did a play through of Silver with both Vileplume and Magneton. Magneton was fantastic only problem i used Thundershock for much longer than I woulda liked and Vileplume did pretty well even when i had to take Gloom into the first elite four match

I didn't use Magneton until gen 3 with Sapphire because that was the best electric type in that one.

I've used most of these. I think the only ones I haven't are Venomoth, Magneton, and Ditto.
I'm not _entirely_ sure about Vileplume and Machoke, though.

Honestly I've used every 1 gen pokemon but once thinking of non general 4 or gen 2 evolutions 15 pokemon. I've even used the machoke, Kadabra, and haunter group. Kadabra (was my 2nd ever 100 pokemon with blue). Graveler is the only 1 of the 4 I never used. I even used electrode cause I actually like the basic concept of it but didn't realize it sucked with no electric moves unless you taught them to it. I've always wanted to use dewdong but as you said not good but I have a heart for sea lions and otters so I'll have it on my team very soon cause I do have an itch to redo a older generation game. Ditto I used out of a bet and yeah never again but it was fun though.

All the gen1 trade evolution are pretty decent Graveler is quite op in Gen2 🤔 best example I can give is it's battle against the most favorite gym leader in Gen2 the ending reset or over leveling usually level 24 just to beat a level 20Miltank all you need is a Female level 17 Geodude and the best part beating her using her own strat but you will do better since you will resist her atk while yours is stab boosted 😊

  • @linhardtvonhevring7262

I used a Kadabra on my team the first time I ever played through Pokémon X version. I didn’t know it evolved through trade.
