- If your visa has been stuck in administrative processing and suddenly on March 3, 2020 you saw a new “ REFUSED” appear on CEAC, then I can explain what’s happening
BIG UPDATE !!!!
I’m a lawyer who filed a lot of mandamus cases to help folks get their visas out of administrative processing
Here’s what’s going on
It seems that today the CEAC status for anyone with a case pending administrative processing has been changed to "refused." After several messages from panicked clients, we noticed that there is new language regarding AP at the bottom of the CEAC now stating that if the case was refused for AP it will be readjudicated.
If the "last updated" date has not changed then it appears not to be an actual refusal, just change in the way the CEAC is showing AP cases.
Super annoying. All my clients are panicking and I'm sure a million other people out there are too. Many of my clients are in online groups and said that everyone there has had the change in status too.

They want people to be scared and to think that their visas were DENIED. But "refused" just means "administrative processing."

Today I received the blue paper with title - Your visa is approved!, but I see that my case is undergoing Administrative processing, I was refused once the same way last year. But last year thay also gave me the yellow paper with 221(g), but not today. I even suppose I will be refused again though.
Hi, I need someone help regarding this matter. I applied us b1/b2 visa in 2018 which was approved first and then goes into administrative processing and they hold my passport for 4 months but I asked them to return my passport for travel and never send back because they hold it for 4 months and I was frausrated . But administrative processing change to refused in 2020. How can I know the exact date of refusal because they send my passport back in 2018 till than until 2020 was under administrative processing. How do I know the exact year of refusal is it 2020 or 2018 ?
Hi Josh, DO you know why all of a sudden our Civil Documents tab went missing after I added my son as a derivative (and got approved). I was able to upload some of my civil documents a few days ago. I'm panicking!

What if their is no additional verbiage? It just says refused? The consulate requested my husband passport on 3/3/20 and they received it 3/13/20 and the status says refused on the website
I went to the interview feb the 3rd
Because my birth certificate did not have the divorce annotation
He gave me 221g letter
Marking specific for me to send that missing document
I gave it to the consular section february the 9
Today is the 12 of february and I am still waiting for them to respond

Got approved last May 19,2022 and the consul says i will get the visa in 1 to 2 weeks. But sadly,from Administrative processing in 1 week since May 4, my CEAC changed to " Application Recieved" on June 2.And it says there that my case are open and check back after 2 business days. As of this writing, since June 2 it is 3 days now,buf still nothing is change. Still status is Application received. Tomorrow June 9 it is already 2 weeks since my interview got approved.I don't know whats happening now.I hope someone can help me understand it.

What if the CO tells you that you have been into AP but ceac still shows Ready instead of AP or 221g
My husband had his CR1 interview on 8-12-20 consular told him to submit a list of answers to 10 questions that were given to him we did so and its been nearly a month now i know it could take a few months for Jordan 🇯🇴. I was wondering with all those who commented on here who were or are under AP are you done did you get a final answer and how long did it take you to hear a final answer?

I got a interview on 6 April 2022 I apply b1b2 visa with my family and on during interviews the visa offers say your visa is aprove and give us slip of visa aprove and keep our passport and on the next day my wife and my son receive passport with visa and my passport still in the embassy and my status showing refused and I didn’t receive any emails or call from embassy or they didn’t ask any documents or anything I’m so worried about it

How much is the total cost ? How long will it take 221 G administrative processing? Is it good to wait for three months.
Why would they do this to people and use this term? Who decided to change this? Did they not think that this would really upset people. This is people's lives. I don't understand this at all I think it is inhumane to say the least.

“Refused” and “administrative processing” are the same thing! So there has been no chance. What’s happening is that there is a delay after the interview.

So we had an interview at Bogota the 27th of January. Our Visa was put on administrative processing and they received the documents they asked for 3 days later. When we sent the documents we also sent our passports as requested by the council and we're still waiting for them to check our case. My worry is that we're not Colombian, we're Venezuelan and the legal time of stay that Colombia gives to turists is only 2 months. Should I contact the embassy to explain this? Thank you.

Hey Josh, my case was a little bit different, it first changed to refused with the administrative processing sentence, the status then changed to administrative processing, but it changed back to refused with only a short paragraph which doesn't contain the key words administrative processing. Is it a real refused?

Omg on March 3rd it was the worst day of my life, I saw the word refused at my husband visa status, after 3months saying Administration Processing, we had interview at KL Malaysia US embassy on December 3, 2019. & they told us we needed to do the sponsor online, so that’s why they didn’t take my husband passport. After that we immediately did it online & yet they haven’t emailed us or anything so now it’s been 4months & yet no emails from them & on March 3rd seeing word refused broke my heart I cried a lot cuz I’m born US from NY, & filed for my husband on October 2016 & yet nothing new accept the word Refused on the ceac visa status, please I need your help can u tell me why it’s refused I emailed the US embassy & asked them why refused, & they didn’t answer back’ is that a good thing ?

@@mybodyismytemple9042 No Sir. It’s still with them. Online status shows REFUSED. It’s an immigrant visa application. They cann’t just refuse it. It’s more than 2 months. I submitted the documents on November 16,2021. They received documents on November 18,2021. Since November 22,2021 system has been showing REFUSED status. The date last updated has changed to December 27,2021 but status is still REFUSED.

I’m facing the same issue, it has not been 3 days that I submitted my docs and was in AP till yesterday and it shows refused today. Good thing is that the dates aren’t changed and it still shows the same date as of my interview’s. is it the same with you people too?
