    I can’t tell you how unsettling it is to know there is a rheumatologist shortage and it’s going to take months to get an appointment but keep hearing rheumatologists online talking about how important it is to be diagnosed and begin treatment early.

      Strongly consider a telemedicine consultation with a rheumatologist. Your imaging and lab tests can be ordered remotely. While you wait to see someone locally, a telemedicine consultation could have you on the path to treatment asap.

      @@ChicagoArthritis it’s funny you got back to me today. After four months, I’ve finally had my first appointment with a rheumatologist this very day!! I’m a bit of a mystery to him at this point but based on my symptoms, his exam and the labs my GP ordered, it is clear I have an autoimmune. Now we gotta figure out which one. My GP and I both think it’s RA. Labs and images next week, follow up in October. Plus another great thing is I must be coming out of this flare. I’ve adjusted my diet and added several supplements. My efforts must be working because my pain level is so much more tolerable. It was truly excruciating for about three months but right now I’m often at 4/5 in the mornings and about a 2-4 throughout the rest of the day. Very manageable considering I was in the worst pain of my life everyday, all day up until I began to improve. Thank you for your suggestion and just taking the time to reach out. This has been a difficult time and I genuinely appreciate anyone’s kindness and compassion. Thank you.

      Which is another reason why it's so important to take your health into your own hands as much as possible. Keto and even carnivore style diets are probably one the best things for autoimmune diseases and symptoms . And/or add to it some fasting or at least intermittent fasting.

    You just cleared up some things for me here. I was uncertain . I've been dealing with this for a year and 7 months now and Allina health just kept doing the blood and piss test results . I gave up on them as I can't trust this place . It's about the money 💵 and not about the care of a patient. Which is why I'm now going to the mayo clinic. But I do have a rash/hive too which I believe is vasculitis so I'm dealing with that as well. But I get tingling in my nerve endings from my feet to my hands and swelling in my joints . I've had moments where my whole arm went charlie horse on me and pain in my knee caps . It's hard to do warm showers due to the vasculitis so I just run my hands under warm water and I take light warm showers .

      Cut ALL sugar out of your diet. It will be tough. Do it gradually over a month. You will most probably get withdrawal as it is said to be harder than coming off cocaine. But in the end after 10 days of no sugar - you will start to feel much better. All the best.

    Is it possible when one tests negative for RA blood tests and negative for auto immune disease ten years after first symptom of wrist pain after a few consecutive hard falls and have it?

    • @ChicagoArthritis
      @ChicagoArthritis  Před 10 měsíci

      Lab testing for RA is not 100% positive. If you have active inflammation in the joints, that can still be RA. Alternatively if you have no inflammation, but rather instability and degeneration, then a regenerative medicine treatment could be helpful.

    • @heragr2912
      @heragr2912 Před 9 měsíci

      @@ChicagoArthritis thanks for the reply. There is no instability or degeneration. Just pain around the wrist because of my falls. Lifting weights 8 - 10 pounds can trigger pain around wrists as well, I guess because of repetitive motion. I'll just keep on eye on it.

    • @ChicagoArthritis
      @ChicagoArthritis  Před 9 měsíci

      After an injury or repetitive motion, the ligaments around a joint get strained and stretched. At some point the ligament is unable to fully heal on its own, resulting in chronic weakness in the ligament. That leads to mild chronic instability in the joint. Symptoms include pains with mild to moderate activity and stress on the joint. That sounds like what you are describing.

    • @heragr2912
      @heragr2912 Před 9 měsíci

      @@ChicagoArthritis I think you're right. I went overboard with my strength exercises with the dumbbells and repetitive motion and now I'm suffering. I just want to strengthen them. So you believe this is a permanent problem? I even wear wrist straps when working out and probably invested in $300 worth of braces and ktape all these years.

    • @ChicagoArthritis
      @ChicagoArthritis  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The ligaments can be strengthened with prolotherapy and Prp treatment. That option gives you a better chance at improving stability long-term, maintaining a high level of physical activity, and pain reduction.

    I have been diagnosed with both MS (2010) and Fibromyalgia (2001) . Starting about 8 weeks ago i have been experiencing stronger and stronger pain in my Toes, Fingers, Wrist, Elbows, Knees, Shoulders and Neck. I was sick with the flu right before this started. The pain is strongest when i wake up accompanied by stiffness. It does get better when i move, but does not go away. I don't see swelling or redness. Could this be RA? I've been believing it's Fibro, but in my toes, hands, wrists, I'm just getting more concerned it's something else.
