That’s tough to find in Kentucky so I’m right at home underground where it’s cool. But once again, many thanks for all the content and knowledge you share. The natural beauty you guys find underground is absolutely breathtaking. Keep up the amazing work!

I actually feel like I could give this a try but with a professional caver like yourself leading the way. This is now one of my favorite channels. Keep it up!

I saw a video of the J4 the other day and was real disappointed at all the graffiti and damage I saw that was not in that cave 40yrs ago

That was like a rebirth experience struggling through those tight spaces. Then to see your father's face anticipating your arrival! LOL, Consider yourself born again!!
I need to know, do you ever get the feeling at any point like you have to stand up like now? I find my heart beating fast sometimes when I watch you thinking of that. It is a rush for me, but I can get up and walk out for a few minutes where you can't!
It's not too bad if you can lay down. I don't like being cramped up in a ball for very long but if you're laying down your body's stretched out and it's not too uncomfortable. You can't ever get the urge for anything you have to be patient. No matter what. You can't fight those rocks.
@@billsanders9387 Now, you see....funny thing is I happen to be bussy that day 🙃 But jokes aside. I have so much respect for what you do. Which is why it's fun to poke fun at in this way. Because it would be absurd to be unhappy with something as trivial as camera angles/takes watching this. At least to me! Have a good one. PS! Out of curiosity. Are you Jacobs father? I’m Calvin’s (Caveman’s) father. Jacob’s dad, Dan, also caves, but doesn’t do much on camera. Calvin and Jacob do much more than the rest of the family combined. Calvin’s “You worry about you” comment comes from us being now banned from TicToc because someone “worried we were encouraging unsafe activity.” He’s a two tour gulf vet. Dude when you were crawling down that hole feet first I’d been scared shitless lol awesome work tho makes me really want to get back out there in the underground I miss it.
Contrary to what some internet rando says on this thread, this is a virtual lesson in speleology. It can’t be easy talking while you’re squeezing the toothpaste back in to the tube, but I appreciate all the pointers and nuggets of knowledge. I’m working terribly hard at my claustrophobia, and the more I learn, the more ammunition I have in that battle. Cheers.
@@EvenDarker question on the video though…initially, I thought you were alone in the cave, as I missed the first moment or two the first time I watched it through. When I replayed it (to hear something you said a second time) I noticed the video started with you talking to another person. When talking about caving safety protocol, is it considered “enough” to go caving alone as long as someone else knows where you are, or is “the rule” to never go spelunking alone? You are obviously experienced, but also, obviously, is the fact that some things happen beyond our control. How would you comment on the above?
Also, newer iPhones have lidar, you can digitally map an entire cave and make 3d models pretty quickly unless the caves are like massive tall rooms type things.
We have several videos of android phone based lidar mapping. 100% of my cave mappung for the last 3 years has been phone based scanning. I find it to be very accurate, especially for smaller caves. Though I do back it up with dedicated lasers. Glad to hear that iphones have that now as well.

This one is so much to deal with. Personally like when you just let it roll. Whatever you find or get into however boring you may think it is, isn't for the viewer. It's authentic. So if one cave is sort of lame, it's justbwhat it is. Or if it ends up being something that's crazy andncrawly then it's still entertaining. I'd worry less about edits and peicing stories, and just roll with it. Not all of them obviously, but if you don't have that type of time, but still want to make content I know personally I'm watching it regardless. It's about you guys and what your doing. Cause i sure as shit aren't caving in things like this or most of the stuff that you guys get into
I think some you tubers try to make videos that people like. But this was never our goal. I make videos I like. As an artistic exercise. Holy cow!!! That’s all but skull dragging tight. It’s been several years since I’ve been caving. I really enjoyed it. I’ve been in some tight spots but nothing like that.... I don’t think. I was smaller then too. Ha ha! Great video!!
Love your videos. I was just curious do you ever go caving alone and if so what safty precautions do you take? How many extra flashlights do you bring? Do you give someone a map of where you will be in the cave? Things of that nature.
We occasionally cave alone, especially to locate new cave entrances. We carry enough extra light gear for a couple days in a two hour cave. We let friends in the caving community know where and when, and when we return. Good questions. Are you ready to try a cave? 🤪
No internet stranger has any influence over what we do or dont do. So feel free to express yourself any way you want. We're just down here havin' a good time.
Did you ever have a real panic attack when you first went down these tight lava tubes. I think I’d lose the battle with my wits as soon as I let my mind go to my situation i.e. unable to move freely/stretch out etc. How do you cope?😮😮
Patience is the trick. When you're in a situation.., the body does want to panic... But that's just cause you want to leave. You can't leave or fight the rock in a hurry. You just have to force yourself to be patient and slowly work yourself in or out. Patients will almost never fail you.
@@EvenDarker True. I'm looking at valley slopes above Chilliwack Lake Road and more karst above Chilliwack Lake. Don't know yet if it extends southward into the USA. Slopes rise into alpine snow between now and June, usually. Elk herds graze amid temperate glades and meadows. Haven't heard wolf howls yet. Woodland coyote noise sounds closer and louder in winter...
I think we had to go down this face first but I don't really remember he says as he's going down backwards and having to remove his helmet because it won't fit 😮
When I watch you're videos I wonder if all the people who go missing in the wilderness might have slipped and ended up in one of these lava tubes trapped like that dog ended up in the hollow tree forever.
I'm in the Scottish borders now which is the middle of nowhere by UK standards but I'm from London, the closest I've come to testing myself is hanging off the side of a channel ferry and alternately raising hands above my head halfway to Cherbourg, France at 3am.
Thank you. I use a number of different cameras. The GoPro I'm currently using is 9. And I do find it to be the first excellent gopro. Good video good sound good image stabilization and it even has a viewfinder that faces forward. It's far superior to any GoPro that came before it. I'd argue that there hasn't been a good GoPro until the GoPro 9.
What we do has say one way or another. I'd strolled down into a wooded slope but paused when hearing water moving. Odd as no liquid was in view. But past a bush at my toes there was an opening. A well-like shaft. Which would swallow me. Instead I bent my spine and looked. Seeing nothing but darkness below. But it was noisy.. Humm. I need to return with SRT gear after the winter wet season ends.
I'm curious if you've ever been asked to or participated in any rescue missions? I imagine if someone were lost or stuck in a tunnel or cave, you guys would probably be the 'go to' team to find them and save their life. Have you ever been approached by law enforcement or park services to advise or actively take part in rescuing someone?
Yes. But rescues in caves are incredibly rare. I suspect in my whole lifetime no one will even get stuck in a cave near me. Basically a 100% of caving accidents are relegated to the tourist caves. There were some 300 cave rescues last year and they all took place in the one cave that you can walk through without a flashlight which has thousands and thousands of tourists visit a year. Kids falling or old people twisting their ankles. So cave rescue teams are just like regular rescue teams but with flashlights. Where no special equipment or knowledge is needed. For legitimate cave rescues of undeveloped non tourist caves is almost unheard of. I think the last one was 10 years ago and someone got stuck in there lines and had to be untangled. * At the end of our death drop cave video there is some cave rescue practicing going on.
Have you guys done any caving in Texas? Theres a giant cave system in my home town in Georgetown. Its called inner space caverns. I dont think its even been fully explored but from what they found so far its HUGE!

No internet stranger has any influence over what we do or dont do. So feel free to express yourself any way you want. We're just down here havin' a good time.
We encourage ourselves
Keep up the good work buddy be safe 👍
We need to use s a f e as an acronym for something about caving. Any ideas? 🤔
Making hardcore look easy!!! Insanely tight spaces chief. Underground bada**
Liking the underground more all the time. Thanks much!
Love both of your channels.
Thank you!
What I saw explains what I'd seen in British Columbia.
Lot of nice caves in bc.
@@EvenDarker True. I'm looking at valley slopes above Chilliwack Lake Road
and more karst above Chilliwack Lake. Don't know yet if it extends southward
into the USA. Slopes rise into alpine snow between now and June, usually.
Elk herds graze amid temperate glades and meadows. Haven't heard wolf
howls yet. Woodland coyote noise sounds closer and louder in winter...
seeing what u see is nice. the pov angle.
I wish I could go caving with you guys 🍻
You're the coolest guy alive in my books 😎
Love your videos as always!!
Gt a lump in my throat god damn awsome. 🤣🤣🤣❤️👊wat a view. Thankyou.
Absolutely beast mode
You guys are in another level hats off for you
I think we had to go down this face first but I don't really remember he says as he's going down backwards and having to remove his helmet because it won't fit 😮
you're a Wild Man! :)
In these tight squeezes where you can't turn around headfirst have you ever had to crawl out out backwards? Looks like abit of distance 😁
Many times. It’s not easy at all, but at least we have a general idea of the terrain. Our knees prefer we keep this at a minimum.
When I watch you're videos I wonder if all the people who go missing in the wilderness might have slipped and ended up in one of these lava tubes trapped like that dog ended up in the hollow tree forever.
This wilderness could hide many, but nobody ever ventures out here.
I'm in the Scottish borders now which is the middle of nowhere by UK standards but I'm from London, the closest I've come to testing myself is hanging off the side of a channel ferry and alternately raising hands above my head halfway to Cherbourg, France at 3am.
We’re you sober? 😳😳
@@billsanders9387 yes, I was 14
Awesome 👌
What Go Pro are you using? Your video looks great.
Man! You are Crazy! 🙃
Certified
I would be terrified my light would go out
Oh..just found four more lights in my pocket. (The total darkness is really an awesome experience).
Love the videos as usual but why does the cover photo on your page look like 3 attorneys of dark darker and darkest
Because I don't want our best dressed day to be in a casket.
@@EvenDarker good reason I love it I do small caves and u are an inspiration
I absolutely enjoy your videos and at the same time I am terrified. I couldn't do it do you are doing it for me. 😅
This guy is amazing. Smallest hole get in and out . Fabulous
What we do has say one way or another.
I'd strolled down into a wooded slope
but paused when hearing water moving.
Odd as no liquid was in view. But past a
bush at my toes there was an opening.
A well-like shaft. Which would swallow
me. Instead I bent my spine and looked.
Seeing nothing but darkness below.
But it was noisy.. Humm. I need to
return with SRT gear after the winter
wet season ends.
I dont think its even been fully explored but from what they found so far its HUGE!
ney , sod that!!!
Agree
terrified, i need more
You can always just go caving.
Brave souls ! 💖 👏 ty 4 sharing! It's kinda fun if your watching, : )
