And when I was born she still couldn't believe that I was a girl. She would always accidentally tell people that I was a boy. So when she named me she named me Samantha so that if I did become trans or something I could just go to Sam instead of changing my real name.

I came out to my parents as bisexual when I was 16 and I was terrified to do it because I thought my dad was homophobic and I thought my mom would tell me I was going to hell or something because she's christian and the only reaction I'd ever seen from christians when their kid came out was hateful. We were in the car on the way home from the beach. my mom was driving, my dad was in the passenger seat, and my brother was next to me in the backseat. He's two years older than me and super cool so he had known for a good three years before then that I was bisexual. I sobbed the whole time because I was scared but they told me it was okay and that they didn't care who I dated or married as long as we treat each other well. Plus later my dad told me we could look at cute girls together (which is a little pervy, but it was coming from a place of love, so I thought it was nice). It still took them a few months to let it really sink in and be a normal thing for them, but as time went on, it just became a very tiny piece of my puzzle. So I'm 18 now and I just moved in to college and I'm terrified but at least I know my parents will come to my wedding someday no matter who I marry.
