This Part of Lake Toba BLEW OUR MINDS! 🤯 The Prettiest Indonesian Village We've Ever Seen

- Samosir Island in Lake Toba is FULL of incredibly picturesque villages, rice paddies and breathtaking views. After living here for two years, we really thought it couldn't get any better - until we went on an impromptu Lake Toba daytrip and accidentally found the most MINDBLOWING scenery we've ever seen!
Our scooter adventure this week took us along the coast of Samosir Island to the village of Pangururan, where we crossed over onto the mainland of North Sumatra and discovered absolute paradise just beyond the volcanic hotspring area of Aek Rangat.
We followed gently curving narrow lanes through brilliant green rice fields until we came upon the insanely gorgeous village of Bonan Dolok (about 2 hours from Tuktuk Village).
Tucked into a bay of the lake, surrounded by green fields, and bordered by rolling emerald hills with a backdrop of multiple waterfalls, this magical North Sumatra village is unlike everything we've ever seen.
People worked hard in the midday heat plowing the fields, children washed their dishes in the gently flowing river, buffalos grazed alongside the road, and we said "wow" at least 5 times every minute.
We can't imagine visiting a more beautiful village in all of Indonesia - and we're so excited to share it with you!
