I had been a technician for Service Master Restoration for 6 years. I'm in the beginning phase of my own restoration company right now. U said water pays more than mold?

Awesome video! Could you do a video on dealing with the insurance while on a job?

Sure! What scenario would you like for me to discuss? Mit, recon...what?
As you get better (do it longer) you learn how to handle adjusters (or in many cases how to avoid dealing with them all together)

Life cycle of a job would be great. Also how to onboard the client when you first come to a flood and need to get them to sign a contract.

Any recommendations on getting into xactimate?

    • @TheRestorationContractor

      Are you doing recon?
If you are only doing mitigation, I suggest you avoid Xactimate
We have sample estimates we can show you

I wouldn't do Xactimate unless you have to. I did %60-%80 profit margins on Emerg (Cat3's netted the lowest) on Time & Materials. Under Xactimate, it goes down to 50%-70% simply because under XA your crews need to be efficient and fast to get anything out of it, and everyone needs to understand what nets the most profit on XA, and what doesn't.
For repairs, I can turn out a T&M estimate in about 10 minutes no matter the size, get it approved, and do 30%-45% profit on the job. As long as you know how long something should take, and you account for 95% of everything, you should be ok.
Remember, under XA, if you don't account for something even a simple door stopper, you are leaving money on the table.
