Darren is one of those rare musicians who doesn't just sing music, but makes you feel it and believe every word. He has a way about him that locks you in. I don't know of many musicians, especially these days, who can do that. It takes a true artist/musician to make you feel and not just hear music. I get chills during the sign language part...that man is so intense.
He is deeply person. I noticed in many songs he sings about single mom with kids running away from tough husband and that staffs Later reading about him I realized, he is trawmatized in childhood, he told about how his further hurt him and his mother. His songs about pain and love I belive he is the thing what he sings about Some bad people hates gays, but they dont know or know how bad are they themselfs Darren has a big heart
This song came out when I was a Sophomore in HS, and this was the time when I was self harming to cope. Whenever I heard this song I cried so hard because I had no one who would catch me when I fell. This song, along with later The Fray's "How To Save A Life", later after I stopped harming, became my songs I would emulate when I saw people who needed to talk. Though I have no one myself now, this song is in my "Find Faith" playlist because I am still lonely, but now am strong.
"Communicate any way, any how". ---So true. As a person who lost his hearing in the prime age of 35, this little statement at the end of the video packs quite a punch, as well as Mr. Hayes sign language display for the final verse. He's including us all here, and telling us to break down the barriers of communication that hold us back & isolate us....whether it be deafness, misunderstanding, ignorance, or even racism,...break em down, communicate, break out of the box. There IS safety in numbers.
this came out when I was 4 and I thought the video was creepy now being 20 i would have never guessed how much a simple childhood song would mean to me in all the right ways now I'm old enough to understand the llyrics, story, and video and helped me when I felt all alone and the world has turned its back on me.
when my husbandmen and i start to get in to some trouble we always play this song if gives us hope and gives us strengthen to face every thing coming at us ty so much for making this available on CZcams
When you feel all alone And the world has turned its back on you Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you It’s hard to find relief and people can be so cold When darkness is upon your door and you fell like you can’t take anymore Let me be the one you call If you jump I’ll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash & burn You’re not alone When you feel all alone And a loyal friend is hard to find You’re caught in a one way street With the monsters in your head When hopes and dreams are far away and You feel like you can’t face the day Let me be the one you call If you jump I’ll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash & burn You’re not alone
I love this song... It says that you feel alone when you're not alone.. A lot of times, That's me.. He says that nothing can hold you down from your dreams... I love it..
I did not even exist in the 90s but still I like 90s and 00s music the most, and I'm discovering I like Savage Garden a lot! I haven't heard this song in years so when it appeared on my Pandora earlier, I was so happy!
I can't remember the last time I listened to this song, my taste in music has changed alot over the years but something brought me here. What a great song, takes me back to my teenage years, when MTV played music videos LOL. Before CZcams, when you just had to wait for the video to come on the TV or the song to come on the radio - and press RECORD!
I am thankful for a band who can put out a song like this. This song alone has helped me through so many tough times. From my fathers passing, to ended love, this song is what helps me continue on, and strive to keep on moving.
Everytime I feel so lost and alone and about to give up on this life I listen to this song and still keep hoping one day there will be someone who does catch me when I fall and help heal away the hurt
god how i wish these guys would reunite and do more albums , their music back in the day helped me get through some shit and i still love their music to this day
I love this song so much. I always forget the name and spend hours searching the lyrics I remember lol.. I am awesome like that (not the best memory). In all seriousness this song is touching and helps me gain clarity. Thank you for that.
This is one if not the best song from Savage garden i sang it to my close friend when i was younger all the time she loves this song reminds us of each other til this day
Let me be the one you call If you jump I'll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart I think these lyrics will always be with me for the rest of my life.
This was my boyfriend's song. It described him to a t and he played it all the time. It's been 9 years since he died, and this song brings me to tears every time.
I was staying at a hotel one time and there was some kind of a sign language convention happening there at the same time. Whenever I see someone using ASL I remember standing on the balcony and looking down at a crowd of about 100 people standing by the pool. They were all totally silent and all fluttering their hands in the air to communicate a hundred different conversations with each other and using all my senses I couldn't hope to understand a single one. It was very cool.
So I turned into a hard core rock and roll fan. I found this song like 3 years ago & haven't heard it in like 2 years. Now that I saw that it was on my Ipod, I played it and feel in love with it once again. Even though I'm more of a metal or rock person, I can still listen to music like this. Oh, & I remember the lyrics, exactly, from when I looked 'em up 3 years ago.
One of my favorite songs from this band. Means so much to me while I was growing up and even to this day. Every now and then I have to listen to this song to get comfort and serenity once in awhile. Love everything from the lyrics to the message in this video.
savage garden, you guys have so many songs that keep me thinking about her more and more, while listening to your songs in the car or just walking around dazing off it really makes me feel good. it helps ease the pain not being with her, but i can wait =) thanks!
This song is a release for me i give so much of myself to others in their time of need i cant even help myself but to listen to this song always helps me
poor kids these days will never know what true music is. Love this song when it was first released and still loving it over ten years later. Only inspirational songs like this can follow you through your life and still mean something!
Wow, I remember the first time I heard this song was on the ZoogDisney top ten countdown years ago. Always made number one with good reason. Amazing song, great nostalgia.
Love the creativity in this music video and how he used sign language! I just wish on the one day I will get married that he comes to my wedding and sings this song.
Oh those uplifting words...how I miss the days of Savage Garden. I never got to see them in concert when they toured the U.S, which was a shame. Nowadays the solo Darren Hayes mostly stays in the U.K. I wish he would tour here.
This song has helped me to heal after break-ups and other hard times for decades now. This one, 'I Miss You' and 'The Lover After Me'. All your songs are pure perfection. I will never stop listening. ❤from Denmark.
My friend one day told me to sit down and listen to this song, bevause he saw the cuts u anx down my arms... my mother had chosen her husband (my stepfather) over me, my dad is in china, my best friend killed herself... anx i was on the way there... Darren and Daniel. Thank you so much for this song. It made me realize that im not alone, there is always someone there who wants or is helping me... thank you guys. I love your music.
love that line "Because there has always been heartache and pain
And when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breathe again"

Good old 90s pop music for the win!

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It’s hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you fell like you can’t take anymore
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I’ll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash & burn
You’re not alone
When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You’re caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can’t face the day
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I’ll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash & burn
You’re not alone

Listening to Savage Garden makes me nostalgic for the late '90s. Such good music and more variety. Now most of today's music just sounds the same.
I think the way he signs at the end is absolutely beautiful. This song has a message for everyone.
