So for the nakamura throttle technique would you want a 1.5 way or 2 way LSD?
I’m not sure why you posted on this chaps comment, but for drifting a 2 way is usually the best option in my experience.
This is literally the best video I've seen in years 😍 I understood it completely. You're right it's super difficult to explain in words (even Japanese words 😂) but you did it very well. I learned a ton. I've actually naturally put some of these techniques into practice organically just by learning car control lap after lap it's cool to hear it spelled out visually. Since I'm into drifting, and to be honest it's since I'm 13 years old, I very quickly understood that there is something to the Japanese style of drifting that made me really love drifting the way I still do today. But I never really knew how to describe it.
It's now 13 years later, that finally someone described it so clearly and perfectly.

Bruh you're damn right!!! I live on a small island where most drift knowledge I have to source it online because local drifters here doesn't know much apart from the basics and I've asked bunch of known west drifters online like, like hey how do you get the squat setup etc... they just keep it a secret like it was a damn KFC recipe, I've asked 2 japanese drifters that were kind enough to explain to me their general setups but for them its that normal to have the rear setup like that, they'll just tell you, " yea i just have a simple coilover set and nothing else particular" haha.. well know thanks to this video i understand everything i wanted to know! time to wrench haha :D @drift crash
This is on the money. The way that they breakdown each segment of a drift to where each thing can be perfected (and regional at the same time) is really fucking cool.
I've always had this gut feeling about drifting that I could never put into words. I've been drifting for only a year now, but I always FELT that the car should be set up the way you're describing it in order for me to get that Japanese style of driving the car. People called me crazy, stupid, etc. I finally have a video to send to those people to get educated, thank you for this.
We'll all look back at this video one day and realize how top tier this info was/is. Spoken so casually yet extremely informative for anyone that might even only have basic understanding of how everything seems to work. You've explained things more clearly and eloquently in 25 mins than others have with years and years of content. Keep it up man.

Loved this video, perfectly explains the reason to why i like Japanese drifting better than the typical "western" style of drifting. The japanese form of drifting is what i chase for on the simulator, agressive, snappy transitions, lots of grip and so on. Hopefully next year I'll be able to buy myself a car and start drifting, not just out and about on the wet and snow with the daily. lol

This Meihan technique explanation really helps me, my S15 came from there and it`s modded way differently than anything else I have ever saw. I still need to learn lots to perfectly control that monster!

As someone who is new to this scene, having already watched the bible and wanting to get into drifting properly (assetto will have to do for now though), this was deffo eye opening and gave me a lot to take away and digest.
Love it mitto dropping knowledge and i may or may not have rewound that ueo clip four or five times, that version of his ae86 was so good especially when he was rocking the full set of MK2's in gold

Awesome vid! Speaking specifically about Meihan, it's really interesting to see how the style has developed. Looking at footage from early 2000's Kansai Allstar, to Team Burst in the mid 2000's, to Naoki in D1SL late 2000's to early 2010's, and then to now. Then seeing how that progression has affected the rest of Japanese drifting. The shakotaka "movement" is also interesting to look at. Basically taking all these principles and pushing them as far as they can go. Such a rabbit whole but a really fun one, especially in these times with nothing to do. Excited to see your take on Western drifting!

Love the video dude! I'm going to share this in our RC drifting group because it relates so much! Using the springs and the squat to snap, using throttle control and the correct gearing to gain speed etc. instead of just mashing the throttle and melt the tires.

Really enjoying the drift crash channel mate latest video is ace and I have taken a lot from it and the one with Julian was awesome he’s the reason I got into drifting met him at a drift day I done with my brother back in 2010 before I could drive he was there doing lessons and took me out in the 34 and I was hooked from that day forward remember him telling me about the drift bible and getting it on dvd before it was on youtube and watching it religiously lol

This was an awesome video, good to know there are people out there that actually understand the finer details of technique like this and it's relationship to suspension set up. So many lost driver's out there, good to spread this info to help people. Too easy to just buy a bunch of parts someone recommended that will not help you achieve what you're trying to do and suit the car/track/skill level. Will be interested at watching more of this!!
Re-watching in 2022 after getting back into drifting games on PC (mainly CarXdrift on PC) wanted to re-aquaint with the OG techniques to refresh the memory of the things I learned from you whilst RC drifting, mad to see how far you style has come in just 2 years, and damn, those rowdy SRs have fast become one of my fave sounding engines!

@@driftcrash2286 I think it also applies to driving style, and what people like. Some people actually enjoy 1000hp semislick cars mashing the throttle with a kilometre between them. Or so I have been told. And everybody is attracted to different elements of drifting, I don't mind less angle and speed as long as there are nice "pakin" transitions in between. And of course your local scene and circuit has a huge influence as well, and skilled drivers can and will vary their style and way of driving. Great video by the way, I also loved Outsiders and Soul RC and all that stuff
Drift Crash no i’m talking purely about the personality that one puts into their driving. the wya you put it sounded like it’s was just something that happened as a result of driving, but i think it’s individual influence.

To add something that Sleepy-san once told me for professional competitions "Most West drifting competitions are judged when you are on throttle in the track (powerslide), in Japan it's when you are off (slingshot) ".

I learned on an S15 helical for the first two years, Tried a welded for a season and had to go back to an LSD.. Been running a Tomei 2 way since 2013 and won't settle for less!
@Daniel Minic I've heard good things about nismo diffs. Never driven on the pro model though. Must be nice.
Honestly clutch pack LSD’s are the way to go. I’ve had my Kaaz 2-way for 15 years and it still does what I want it to.
