  • @Allaiya.
    @Allaiya. Před 7 měsíci +18

    Destroy feels like the right ending for a lot of reasons.
    I feel like there’s a lot of lines & scenes throughout Mass Effect that point that destroy is the only way to really stop the reapers. Even all the way back in ME1.
    Admiral Hackett, Anderson, & even Shepard point to it.
    “Dead reapers are how we win this”
    The paragon option on Rannoch has Shepard saying destroy whereas he mentions control in the renegade.
    Saren wanted a “union of flesh & steel” in ME1. He was indoctrinated. The Illusive Man was under the impression he could control the Reapers in ME 2 & 3, but he was already under indoctrination per the catalyst.
    I don’t see why the same wouldn’t also be true with Shepard who picked control. Why would he/she be an exception to Reaper indoctrination when picking Control or Synthesis, when previously we see Reapers liked these options?
    Indoc makes Reaper desires seem good at the time which I like to think is why control is paragon blue & destroy is renegade red. It’s reversed.
    I know some don’t select Destroy or even call it “evil” because it supposedly kills off EDI & the Geth. First, I’d argue EDI I believe would sacrifice herself if it meant to stop the Reapers for good. The Geth maybe not, but Mass Effect 3 repeatedly, & I do mean repeatedly, points out that there will be sacrifices to win & the “calculus of war”. We already saw this in ME2 in the Arrival dlc, sacrificing 300,000 Batarians civilians to delay the Reapers.
    The whole needs of the few vs the many conundrum. Those giving the Geth/EDI reason are choosing the needs of the few over the many imo.
    I think of Reaper tech like the One Ring in LotR. Everyone thinks they can handle it but over time it just warps your mind and you lose yourself to it. Becoming like a husk or a wraith. The only safe & sure fire way to be rid of its evil (stop the cycle) is to destroy it (or them in this case).
    Not to mention the Reapers are murdering 1.86 million humans a day per the codex. 1,860,000 every single day. That’s more than my entire major metro area. That’s basically a major city wiped out every 24 hours. And that’s just the humans. The batarians have also basically been wiped out. So as much as I love the Geth, I’ll sacrifice them to save trillions of more lives to ensure that the repeating genocidal cycle has “an end, once & for all” (the literal ending title of the ME3 soundtrack) in the cold calculus of war that is a major theme of ME3.
    There’s a line in ME3, & I can’t remember now who says it, that “humans want to save everyone” but “that it isn’t going to be possible.”
    And top it off with it’s the only ending Shepard has a chance to survive & the fact the catalyst has a Reaper voice if you do the “refusal ending” also seals the deal for me.

    • @maestrrsantarael6590
      @maestrrsantarael6590 Před 7 měsíci +4

      That yes. But I can give you a simpler argument in favor of the fact that this is the most correct ending: it requires the most effort from the player (especially in legendary edition). The player needs to complete the entire trilogy 100%, with correct choices and rescheduling saves. No other ending requires this (other endings do not require anything at all, so they can be considered alternative)

    • @BADMAN121able
      @BADMAN121able Před 3 měsíci +2

      I disagree to having Destroy be a Good ending for the Galaxy
      At first that's exactly how I thought about it, its all indoctrination and you'll just be a third after Saren & the Illusive man as you've mentioned
      But looking at the results of the other two endings you can tell its simply not the same! its no Indoctrination since the reapers do end up changing for the better, this never has happened with Saren and mostly likely wouldn't if the illusive man has succeeded!
      -> *Synthesis* : part of Shepard lives in all and through EDI during the Ending we know that those affected are "Alive", are themselves! its merely in their DNA to live peacefully ever after. (Imo, this Ending is what's best for the Galaxy)
      -> *Control* : You see the Reapers actually pulling back from the war, ceasing hostiles even rebuilding destroyed cities the only thing uncertain is how other Life forms will react to Shepard's "Army"
      If Legion and EDI taught us anything, is that Synthetic are alive so if we commit to destroying all Synthetics period doesn't that make it Genocide? isn't that exactly what the Reapers planned to do on Organic races?
      Besides.. Sooner or later technologies will be repaired by other life forms, and Synthetics in one form or another will be created again, therefore:
      *You've merely delayed the Cycle, not "Destroy" it*

    This is def the best ending and canon... Any ending where the reapers survive is terrible. They can influence anyone probably with synthesis just like the geth... so basically everyone would just be their slaves and they'd still be unstoppable so no one would oppose them. Also, you would essentially be ending all organic life, while synthetics remain the same, why is it that organics need to change and synthetics stay the same and just 'understand'..... that's not compromise it's bull shit.... Control is just AI acknowledging that it fucked up, and doesn't know what to do anymore, it's the simplest change, millions of years doing this and got nowhere, maybe it's the AI fault that reapers have failed. However, Shepard leading the reapers just essentially means now there's a galactic overlord with an unstoppable force and no one has freedom... The reapers needed to go, they were a failed AI made by squid people that literally went so rogue they turned civilizations into milkshakes. Where is the proof that the geth even died? They said they made some advancements that reapers couldn't control them anymore maybe could've lived. And the Geth and Turian's getting along prove the reapers were wrong.... Ai with organics was working! And can work again if the geth died...plus very end... another Shepard story? Woooo mass effect 5 LETS GOOO

    Any time someone wants to invent super good AI id like them to see this video and get smacked in the fucking head. I know its a video game but still... How the AI gives reasoning and lame justifications for such brutal killings. Like in the game if the reapers wanted to purely preserve current cycles life in a reaper form it could have been done way less brutally. They just wanted supremacy. That's why the whole indoctrination theory ending bares the most weight in terms of game ending.

The explosion from the destroy option only eliminates the evil machines so its actually a win/win. And spoiler alert; if the indoctrination theory is true then there was no ending to begin with. Shepard beats the indoctrination aka destroy ending but the game ends in the cliffhanger as you still have to finish the actual fight. this could set up mass effect 4 with shepard still being alive and this time harbinger fuses with the illusive man like sovereign did with saren and now you really will have the final battle with the illusive man harbinger form.

      3700+ - Shepard survives the Destroy ending

      @@d.m.1178 Technically 7400 or 7500 TMS. I've read on Reddit and other reliable sources (which I'm not going to waste time explaining) That they've reached this minimum and still got the best ending, despite not reaching 7800.
      Right now, I've reached 7782 TMS by playing full paragon (with a little renegade under the right circumstances) on all three games. All I have left to do in ME3 is finish the last N7 mission, collect the last batch of war assets, do the Citadel DLC storyline, and finally the main Cerberus base before launching a final assault against the Reapers on Earth.

      just end ME3LE, done 100% missions - 7430, no Shephards breathing. Very wonder, cause in standart ME3 needed 6500. Now its very hadrfull to take 7800 EMS, you will have to act out “on paper” to do them

      @@Hellafast2uDudeIts not that hard tbh, doing everything, dlcs, missions, and exploring the galaxy can easily get you to 8000.
      I was full paragon between the trilogy, so thanks to the choices like saving the council, saving the rachni queen, curing the genophage, achieving peace with quarians and geth, and exploring the galaxy in me3 i easily got to ~8200, with a bit of galaxy still unexplored, and mostly did it without a guide (damn planets in me1)
