3:27 i heard this noise once and I didn't know which direction the xenomorph was coming from until I looked behind me and has one of the most scariest jumpscare in my life
I always wondered why the Alien had such loud footsteps in this game, when it was clearly able to sneak up on the entire crew of the Nostromo in Alien 1 and even on the colonial marines with their motion trackers. I guess it is for gameplay purposes, which is totally ok. Or it is because the Alien realised that no one on Sevastopol could do shit against it and it just became cocky, not bothering to hide anymore.
Right, now that I hear it in isolation (no pun intended), I notice it, too. It's a low freq rumble, almost tickling in your ears, that changes in stereo separation to give the impression of an echo of a heavy impact bouncing forth and back through the structure of the station. Normally 3D audio sources are mono and an audio library I worked with even warned you if you attempt to use a stereo track.
I just love the design they gave the Xenomorph in Alien: Isolation. It looks very much like the design they used in the original Alien film, but they gave it a digitigrade stance so it wouldn't end up looking like a guy in a suit. It was the perfect compromise. Plus, Xenomorphs seem lot more threatening when their bipedal (since standing up, they're a lot taller than humans). I know that they're capable of moving on two legs, but 7/10 times you see them on all fours. Though given how they can move on any surface (ceilings, walls, etc.), I suppose it's understandable why they'd be quadrupedal.
Laserbeak316 I think it varies on the situation, when they are searching or just simply traveling they would probably walk in a bipedal stance. When chasing something or crawling in walls or roofs they'd assume the quadrupedal stance.
I think it depends on the situation walking up right might be just for general movement where as in OG AvP they may be on all fours because they know they are being hunted as to lessen how much noise and physical outline when moving.
I’m glad they went with a design more akin to the one from the first movie, and not Aliens. A lot of games and comics use the Aliens design (or worse, the Resurrection design) too much.
Keep in mind its appearance and abilities adapt to the lifeform it's "birthed" from. So it could have just been something else that gave it this specific DNA compared to others that travel more often on all four.

For those of you who may not know, whenever you are in the vision cone of the Alien (AKA it can see you) some of you may remember hearing a distinct hiss that sounds like that of a snake? That's the Alien's detection meter filling up in the background the longer it can see you. In short, the hissing is your grace period to get out of the way as quick as you can before you become detected by the Alien. If it finds you, well then good luck. You have my sympathies.
Most of them actually. There are some sounds missing. Like the sounds when it spots you, or that roar when it drags you and kills you. Which the roar sounds just like the roar it made when it took Dallas.
@@Jose10614 I remember hiding under a desk and the alien walked by. All of a sudden he just bent down immediately and I screamed my head off it was so unexpected. Biggest jumpscare ever

I love (hate) how the alien's 'voice' can be a mix of...lions roaring, industrial turbines, cats and snakes hissing, scraping metal, human lamentations, the wind itself. Makes my skin crawl
Okay, I know this might be way off topic, but given that this is in Isolation: what the hell is that strange "OoooWOOOwooooo" background sound you sometimes hear? (it's all over the movies too)
I love how heavy the footsteps sound, really helps convey just how fucking big the Xeno is. Not only are they much taller than humans on average, their silicon-based biology also makes them way heavier despite their overall thinner frames.
I think there are more than that. The ones where it hisses when you are seen. Even on nightmare sometimes it hisses at you instead of attacking you. I recognise the hisses in this video are ones when you threaten it
Here I am, trying to somehow remake the sounds for a project, so I'm checking what the sounds are. Turns out a bag of chips is kinda all I need to get started. Got the growl down, more to go.
3:29 I’m sad not one of these screeches wasn’t used for the Xenomorph in DBD as far as I know. It would have been full on PTSD for any Isolation players to hear again in a chase.

You didn't include it's weird chuff / sniff when it falls out of vents! D:
Why would anyone dislike this?....Seems high quality and everything as advertised.
Love it, the only thing missing is that classic microphone screech that is heard both in the film when it takes Dallas and when it grabs the doctor through the door.
Enola Ayakashi Yesss I agree!!!
That sound is actually in the game. You can hear it in several of the death animations.
2:45
When you realize the noise your so scared of is lettuce and celery
Thank you.
Loving all the xenomorph fans down here! And you forgot the screech the xeno makes in the vents sound can be heard in the hive once activating alpha and or beta cores and heard past that point.
ExtremeSp00ks Omg Yesss!!! I love the Hive but are also terrified of it too! Xenomorphs are such Amazing, Gorgeous and Badass Creatures.
Sounds like somebody's opening. A snickers bar at Near the beginning
I love when it makes the clicking sounds around 3:19.
Edward Chamberlin OMG Yesss! I noticed it does that when it just standing and scanning the area to find you! It actually it supposed to Mimic Velociraptors, I think Xenomorphs actually sound Velociraptors! I love Alien/Alien Isolation so much💯💯🖤💚
@@xenomorph8636 Me too, and yes, they are kind of like raptors.
This is why listening and knowing what the sounds are is crucial to playing this game.
I love it!
Remind me the old days, when I played this game, time go so fast.
Get lost
I almost got ASMR tingles. Nice.
Man, shout out to whoever made these sounds, it is easily 50% of what made that game so damn good.
Amazing video! I wonder how long it took to make lol, probably took a long time! Anyway thanks for the vid!
The way it makes noises really makes me nervous 😬
Jacob MacDonald I agree ☝️ with you 100%. I love this game so much!
💚🖤💚🖤
I believe I've developed a severe heart condition playing this game! Lol (not really but I do feel like it with this game at times! I swear if you hooked a heart rate monitor up to my heart you would say I’m very unhealthy at times in this game!! Lol) I have never ever been that scared of playing a video game in my life (OMG)until I played Alien Isolation💚🖤💚🖤Sega really out did themselves!!! I'm actually playing again but for the first time with headphones and My God!!!
😳😳😱😱😆😆
Jacob MacDonald Did you play the game?
@@Jose10614 I’m playing it already but on medium mode cause it’s my first time
3:29 roar
I find it hilarious when people shoot at you and inadvertently draw the Alien to them. Hearing it go batsh*t on them always makes me laugh.
love the sound when the alien drops from the vent
Perfect!
2:07 - alien drops from ventilation system
No thats 2:13
X D At 2:07 is when the Alien goes up into the vent!
I love (hate) how the alien's 'voice' can be a mix of...lions roaring, industrial turbines, cats and snakes hissing, scraping metal, human lamentations, the wind itself. Makes my skin crawl
I will say one thing about this: the body bag sounds are spot on in the creepiness.
Thanks!!! My girlfriend is terrified of these creatures so now i can scare her all the time!!!
Is this sound effect copyright i eant to use it in a youtube video but will it get flagged?
Okay, I know this might be way off topic, but given that this is in Isolation: what the hell is that strange "OoooWOOOwooooo" background sound you sometimes hear? (it's all over the movies too)
A ghost blowjob.
WOO WOO
Might be late, but goo.gl/vdNFS3?
I think the OP actually meant the "space whale". There are a couple of good videos on the sound design.
its the sound of a whale pitched
Gyarretto7 they might be the souls of those who were killed by the alien.
i dont even recognize some of these sounds, most i remember is the footsteps, hissing and screeching
2:13 this hits different when you’re being shot at by armed enemies
sometimes your biggest enemy saves your life.
3:28 screams used at the end of Alien: Romulus trailer!
Frightening ,truly frightening
Gonna use this to freak out my friend later
I love how heavy the footsteps sound, really helps convey just how fucking big the Xeno is. Not only are they much taller than humans on average, their silicon-based biology also makes them way heavier despite their overall thinner frames.
Perfect to get your nerves going.
Thanks I got jumpscared by the beginning of the video.
+Brad Cypy Where did you find and download these? And is there any way to get a list of the files one-by-one?
turl This is actually from a game!
at 3:28 that means ``detect`` so you better run if ya hear it!
Yeah no point in doing that. It can and will outrun you.
It's a perfect organism
someone should make a ambient video with this, as your hiding from an alien and it walks and trots and searches for you
I think there are more than that.
Hagrid would have loved this thing
0:00 Joints moving rapidly?
0:14 Joints moving slowly
0:27 Joints moving quickly
0:39 Footsteps
0:43 Joints moving quietly?
3:09 hiss
So many scary memory’s of suspense when I barley avoided the xenomorph
Minecraft sand
3:29 I’m sad not one of these screeches wasn’t used for the Xenomorph in DBD as far as I know. It would have been full on PTSD for any Isolation players to hear again in a chase.
I wish this included those screaming sounds they make when they get flamed.
I can never listen to the alien's screeches without thinking of the suicide enemies from Clive Barkers Jericho.
You missed one where the Alien is walking around looking thinking that somebody is in the area.
3:34 probably the most iconic Xenomorph sound
Seems to miss the distant screams, like when you activate the reactor and you hear them all around you.
This creature very intelligence.
2:13 this sound gives me PTSD💀
2:08
Finally some relief.....*leaves locker*
*2 seconds later*
2:13
*sigh* maybe its not too close......
3:29
FUUUUUUUUUU
