Really wish these sounds would see more use in future cartoons, shows, movies, etc. They're truly legendary and fun sounds to use. Adds more charm than modern sound effects in my opinion.
0:36 firestar! 0:51 is the sound of captain cold's freeze gun played backwards from challenge of the superfriends and used in two episodes in spiderman and his amazing friends. 0:54 captain cold's freeze gun in its full glory!
I've been looking through various videos like these for years trying to find a particular old sci fi sound effect that I had heard in a few different cartoons back in the 1960's. It was somewhat of a variation of the "rise and fall" or "ascending or descending" one. But the way it sounded, was like it oscillated in an out as the effect sound went up in pitch, then the same, upon descending. It seems to me, if I remember, it was in used in at least one or so of Felix The Cat, Courageous Cat cartoons. But I can't place them. All I know is exactly how it sounded and how it led to me having nightmares when I was a young kid.
I'm looking for similar sound that I've heard only a few times, but remember very fondly. I did order a theremin for musical purposes and I'll try to recreate some of these sounds, including the one that I still hear in my dreams, yet have never come across since hearing it at around age 10.
@@wendi-bnkywuv It's probably the same one I referred to. I haven't heard it since I was a kid, watching those old cartoons. I have found many of these old cartoons, but none with that haunting sound effect. No matter how much I search.
@@wendi-bnkywuv Have to keep plugging at it. I have a sense, that if I find that sound, and be able to confront it now and to perhaps think of it differently, maybe it'll subconsciously help me get past one of the many hurtles and road blocks in my mind, from way back when. Here's a story about one of those cartoons that disturbed me then too, and still sort of does. It was a Mighty Mouse cartoon, that involved a wolf that stole a baby bunny and hot footed it away, after he lured it away from it's family. I remember the bunny screaming in terror and crying for it's life, while the wolf kept pushing the baby carriage the bunny was in all over the place. Might Mouse comes to the rescue in efforts to stop the wolf. The wolf keeps eluding him, until he's caught. But that screaming and crying haunted me for the longest time. I found that video on CZcams not too long ago and revisited the scenes, screaming and feelings I had of rage, sadness, wondering where justice and safety was. I know it was just a cartoon, but still. Also, I'd like to know how they made the kid who did the voice over for that cartoon bunny, do all of that screaming and crying. That kid must have been either negatively made to do it by whatever means. Because, I don't think one could make a kid scream like that all through a cartoon like that.
anyone know that really mysterious alien theremin sounding effect where its like WAAA WAAA WAAAA at different pitches. its like a tense/unveiling moment, like when you first see the aliens or something like that.
let me know if you find it. im sure we're both looking for the exact same thing. i think its time to start sessioning sci-fi from the 80s, probably twilight zone or something like that
The sounds of every cartoon and cheesy science fiction series and movie of my youth. Oh who am I kidding, I still watch those things to this day. Keep watching the sky's!
***** You would be referring to the unmistakable sound of a "theramin" which was used in a lot of 50's sci-fi and horror "b" movies. No I'm more interested in how they created sounds for photon torpedo launches, phasers, Spock's scanner and other stuff like the martian ships from war of the worlds. For the likes of Star Trek the next generation, all the effects were done using synthesizers but back then they didn't have synths. Take the Doctor Who theme for example. There's a full film documentary on how it was created using tape recorders and goes on to show how some of the sounds were created as well. I'd like to see a documentary on the creation of Hollywood's sci-fi sound effects.
Count Orlok Synths? In the 50's and 60's? So the likes of Delia Derbyshire used Cubase, Ableton, Fruityloops and a Pentium 2 laptop to bring the Doctor Who theme to life back in 1963? Uhuh...... a decade before Moog introduced the first thing to resemble a synth. At least the BBC "have" film documentaries of the inner workings of the radiophonic workshop to show how the British did things. What methods did the American industry use? More to the point, did you actually read my previous post?
I have a karaoke machine (which I wont be using to sing lol) and the night of December first 2021 my brother and I opened the backyard door and blasted this for all to here in out neighborhood.
I have been looking for one particular sound effect I feel like I have heard in movies and shows before... it sounds similar to these but Is a slow echoing “beep“noise that repeats a few times , then again with a lower pitch , then again a third time with a slightly higher and off sounding pitch. It just sounds like echoing through space I don’t know how else to describe it

these coupled with dubstep basslines (which some movies have used to denote alien or weird stuff, like Electro in Spiderman) would be pretty massive
