Actually an easier way to connect it is... You don't need to use the AC adapter. Turn it on. Plug the cable in and pull the battery. Then hold the AMS button and connect the battery. I think they do the AC adapter instructions because they know how poor their battery is and they don't want it dying before you get it programmed. Just make sure the battery is fully charged and work quickly.
Digital modes are like a kid numbers drawing games, the more points you add the more define the picture will be. With digital signals processing, you will never get as much as the real thing (FM analog signal), so the full-frequency range will have some digital compression. The best digital mode for audio will have more information (data), C4FM Voice Wide (VW) sound the best because it used twice the bandwidth of the others, 12.5 kHz vs 6.25 kHz, if you want to transmit data with your voice at the same time in C4FM you will need to switch to digital narrow (DN) which is exactly the same width as DMR, 6.25 kHz. Digital brings more possibilities than FM, but it will never sound as good as compression is inevitable. On the other hand, transporting the digital signal through the internet is easier as it's alread digitalize, which helps to keep the integrety of the transported signal. 73

Wait, I recently bought similar radio in HRO store, the guy said I need to buy software with programming cable for additional $49. He said that cable that is in the box is for firmware only. What do you think about that?

@@Laboenligne My only real complaint about the FT-70D is the battery life. 6 hours is not enough. My $25 Baofeng gets about 18 hours from the battery, but the $150+ FT-70D gets only about 1/3rd that time. The cheap Baofeng comes with a drop-in charger, but the Yaesu unit sells it separately. I am quite disappointed in this radio, simply due to the battery life. The radio transmits and receives great, but that is hard to do when the battery is dead or dying...
I am puzzled. Why is it necessary to remove the battery? The programming procedure -- including this mambo with the batter/wall wart power -- is a real deal killer. I am guessing it is NOT DMR capable. All in all, as a big fan of Yaesu and owner and lover of FT60Rs, this is a deal killer.

Hello, I have a quick question. I purchased two VX-6R in order to have radios for emergency. The only thing is that I dont have any experience with Ham radio and dont know how to set it up. I know I would need a license in order to operate with relay antennas but is there any way to have both radios work as a two way long distance. Because intention is to use it only in case of an emergency. If yes, I'm not sure which channel or band to use for that. Thanks
Hi Willian, in some country it is illegal to own an amateur radio transceiver, so first you should check your area regulation. Plus, the only unlicensed frequencies you can use are the FRS or GMRS in UHF but these should be blocked with the radio model mentioned. Even if it was unlocking it exceeds the allowed power for this service. I have no answers for you since I never tried the VX-6R. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Hi Joel, that's depend if you have repeaters close to you or if you plan to used an hotspot. If you have friend nearby that operates in simplex you should get a mobile, if you're just starting, get a portable that support at least 1 digital mode with a digital hotspot. 73 Pascal VA2PV
Nice video! Not sure if I'm the right place, but what would you recommend for two beginners that want to communicate in an urban area between houses separated by approximatly 3 miles? From what I'm reading, a license would be required, and UHF would give the best performance in urban area. But I'm not sure if a handheld device would be appropriate, or a mobile + power supply would be required. Thank you.
Yes a licence is required for ham radio, 3 km is easily achivable in VHF an UHF. If you don't want to get a licence, I suggest you try FRS or CB that will work too. 73

so to change the volume you have to push a Button on the side and then turn the knob on top? is there a way to set the knob on top to be the volume without having to push the button on the side?
